Socketing help??

Does it matter what the item quality is when you're socketing a weapon?

IE, i have a 'crude' battle scythe (lower damage then a normal battle scythe or whatever) and if i socketed in a rune word, would the damage be stunted at all by the 'crude' part of it? or does the damage add up as the same?

In other words, should i socket this crude battle scythe (with the word 'Honor'), or look for a non-crude battle scythe, in hopes the overall damage will be better???

Socketing doesn't normalize an item, nor does making a runeword in it, but there are cube recipes for normalizing low quality items, but those drop the item ilvl to 1 so no 5 sockets in them.

Remember though that the cube socketing recipes won't work on low or superior quality items only Larzuk can socket those.

So if i used a recipe to improve the battle scythe, larzuk would give me another number of sockets for it (not 5 for my honor runes...)?

Also, i can't improve the item quality AFTER it has been put sockets in... right...?

Larzuk would give three sockets for a normalized low quality battle scythe.

And no you cannot normalize it afterwards.
