So I need a description of Diablo in a nutshell...

Hi guys. Well my dad walked into the computer room an hour ago and rather than tell me "Why do you play that game?" or "Tyler, get off the game" lol, he actually asked, "So what is this game about?" in a sort of interested or intrigued manner. Now I know this is definently no where near my dad getting the game and us playing, although I would love that:smile:, but when I tried to reply to him, I just couldn't answer him. After I said a few mixed up things about it he said, "Ok, well try to explain it to me in less than 10 seconds" I of course hesitated and after a minute of confusing explanations, I told him I would try to better explain it to him later tonight. So, now I've got to think of a way to explain to my dad all about D2, but I need it to be really simplified, while still representing a vast portion of the game. Keep in mind he is completely clueless about anything in this game lol. I just have no clue how to word it all, plz help me guys lol.

Just give him a simple explanation of what an RPG is, and mention a little of the plot.

" It is a MMORPG, which means....

The goal is to stop the prime evils from...."

And that should do it, just be concise.
 
you fight your way through a world taken over by the forces of hell as one of seven different adventurers, and attempt to break evils hold on the land by destroying the lords of hell, diablo and baal?

tell him to play and he'll know, "you must play to know" doesn't require 10 seconds to say, AFAIK
 
You develop a char to fight evil monsters from which a lot of different and rare items can drop which your character can wear, and as your character 'grows' (use of the word 'levels' might be too complex) you can specialize it more and more. And you can play online with or against other players.
 
Lol, well I needed more of a description of the game itself rather than Diablo "himself" lol.

I was thinking of possibly showing him just the intro scene where Diablo walks into the pub and tears the place apart lol.

I think it's different for different people. For me it's all about trying new character builds, trying to find or make items that suit them and then there's my quest to collect all uniques and sets.

Well what I'd say would be...

It's a game that can be played online or off, and if you play online you can party with up to 7 other players. You play through a storyline with a fairly good plot, and while doing so you can collect and trade various items. There are 7 different character classes as well, and each of them has various skills they can learn. Combined with items that grant skills this means a player can experiment with a huge number of different character and equipment builds. You can also build and craft your own items. Oh yeah, and you can fight other people too if you want to.
