Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I will probably get it sent tomorrow afternoon. Whats up with the Sunday april 29th

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Palpatine sent to kestegs and Chewbacca received from jiansonz. Good luck to everyone!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I've got a working Ahsoka and have sent on Solo to WoRG.

Good luck and stay safe. Remember that those quill rats in the Moor are deceptively dangerous!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I sent Antilles to Thomh. I'll wait for a character back from him and it's no problem to wait until Tuesday or when the computer problems are sorted. Don't rush and get killed as a result!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

The Senator has been received and working fine!

Back to back necros! yay!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Its not the quill rats in the Moor that scare me, its the ones in the Tamoe Highlands...there always seems to be at least one bosspack that is absolutely deadly there...

Binks is still not quite ready to pass, but I hope to finish him up tonight and send him to cenyth...sorry for the holdup, but I couldn't play at all last week...I'll send him tomorrow at the latest.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Yaddle has been sent to soulmanz. I shall wait patiently for JoeBruce to return. :)

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Mothma found a Steel Driver from the Cows. Alas, any character who may be able to use it won't be able to employ it until A5 Hell (if I burn the quest reward on it now, it can't go back into the 2 items stash, and thus can't be passed to another character). Not fair, D2. You should have given me this last act when I had a Barbarian.

I still haven't decided on what to socket, but I'll make up my mind today and send Mothma on.

Edit: Mothma sent.

Edit edit: Ackbar received.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Yaddle recieved. Organa sent out a day or so ago. She was pretty strong, even ploughing into the moomoos pretty well

Unfortunately despite much effort nothing worth giving to her dropped so I ended up just using her reards on the merc

He got a personalised duriels shell, and a rare lance socketed. The lance was rubbish as well, but the only cruel I gambled was a pike. If it had been a lance he would have thoroughly loved it though! From memory the lance was 99%ED, but also had something like 280%ish to undead, so might be good for act 1 and 2. Maybe about 40 cold damage, some fire damage and cant remember anything else. Not really rubbish, but only buffed his damage by 50% or so.

Not over the moon about the reward uses, but whatever. Had to be used

Yaddle is interesting. I am convinced she will be a big chance of deeds for me, because I am usually very headstrong with 'melee' characters and I am still ironing out my sorc hotkey kinks (I dont play them much and keep accidentally porting into bosspacks)

Any thoughts on a power skill for her?
currently Forb and Enchant. Considering a number of things, she has a nice ES/static memory staff, so those 2 might not be so needed, although a strong ES might be useful

Or maybe firewall? Then she will be a lot like organa though.

A strong static would make her a lot tougher/survivable even

The bolded part would be my choice.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Soulmanz: Sorry, I remembered that when I asked Skunkbelly about it, he asked that we not discuss Yaddle's third power choice in the thread, as others had not had that input....

Whatever you choose needs to be useful with less than max points, as she still needed some FM love to really pump enchant...

I would make getting Cold Mastery up to a skill level of 23-27 a high priority. A very high proportion of monsters in Hell have Cold resistance in the 20-50% range so those points are well spent. I'd say that an investment of 20 points in CM would be better than a 20 point investment in Static Field because you would be directly increasing your damage output of a very powerful killing spell anyway. A couple of Orbs should drop everything to half health anyway so it's really no different than Static Field.

Although, Static Field would still be helpful as well.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Binks sent to cenyth, Solo received.

Binks is quite strong...he played all of Act 5 at /p8, including Ancients and Baal, with only a couple bad moments...once from me being an idiot, and once when running Baal and discovering there were stygian dolls present when they ran up and exploded in his face.

I ended up making him Rain in a wyrmhide...it worked very well for him, the +skills and big +mana were great. As always, replacing Stealth meant getting FCR, FHR, and FRW elsewhere (seriously, who was it that was dissing on Stealth?...Its a GREAT runeword for the cost). He is now using both the clubs I crafted for him back in Act2NM, +2 elemental/+2 summoning, and he has 3(!!!) elemental skillers (Organa got one from the council in Act3, Yaddle got one in the RoF in Act4, and Binks found the third himself in the Bloody Foothills at the very beginning of the Act...unfortunately, they're all plain, but still...Tornado is slvl 31 (~2.5K damage) and Hurricane is slvl 34 (~1.25K/pulse)!!

Binks found a Kelpie Snare, and chose that for his socket reward...as it lacks leech, I put an Amn in the socket. The personalization reward was much harder to choose...its not that Binks didn't get decent drops, its just that they were good for a melee char, not for a complete caster...Headstriker, Titan's Revenge, Riphook, and Stormrider all dropped, but nothing he needed. He ended up personalizing an eth Spirit Shroud for Mizan, for the CBF mostly...I will say that the Peace armor the merc had been wearing was working very well...the CtC Slow Missiles was very helpful when facing big packs of Succubi shooting blood stars everywhere, so I kept it in his inventory in case...

I rerolled a few low quality pelts to get the Ravens staffmod again, as I find that it really helps in many situations...hopefully, Binks' future players will also find it useful and keep it this time...

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

WoRG, when I read the part about Binks´charms found by other characters, I went "WTF?".

Then I read the rules again and realized that I have misunderstood this part! :p This far, I have treated potions and charms as belonging only to the character I am playing, but that I have the freedom to keep their surplus ones (to avoid cluttering up stash/inv) in an ATMA stash until it´s time to send the character, when I put all of those things back onto the character. The only items I´ve kept in 'my own tourney stash' are socketables and the two allowed 'special' items.

I hereby apologize to the rest of the players for losing the charms that could have been useful to other characters (yes, including a couple of skillers) instead of sold by the finder because it wasn´t of use to them.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Offee has been sent. I have the email from Jason, but i didn't see any attachments. Could you resend the Mothma to me, and i will check again.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I got Dooku from Thomh today. It's nice to see him again- his rehab from his youthful indiscretions into clay golemancery was a complete success!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Received Offee (Trapper Assassin), and have played Blood Moor + Den of Evil.

Wow, what an amazingly powerful character! I need to crank it up to /players 5 in this act so there is any sort of challenge...

There is still room for gear improvements. For example, I think it´s strange that nobody has collected some non-magical claws with some nice one-point wonder staffmods (I miss MB and DF...) for the weapon switch. OK, I can see that progress in NM would have been real easy, and these skills not important. But still...

Merc is the Holy Freeze type. I can see the point of that, with him adding another two damage types (cold + physical) and making the Shadow a better tank since monsters are slowed. Going to look for a nice ethereal elite weapon for him to imbue. Too bad his weapons are so big that you can´t reroll an imbue with perfect skulls (well I can if I find a Stone of Jordan, but Offee will probably want to wear that Stone instead...)
