Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I got stair trapped by a Cursed Conviction spider pack.

Where was this? In one of the temples in the Bazaar?

Sorry for your loss.

(Dorme was my character in Act IV, btw)

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Ackbar made it to the Pandemonium Fortress. I doubt I'll do any runs with him although he's a very safe character to play due to an exceptional find:

Ackbar traded in his old Lore helm for a new Lore pelt that had +3 to Shockwave and since he's a mauling bear without that particular power skill, he can now use Shockwave as well. Yeah, things are a little slow sometimes but it's not too bad.

I'm a bit embaressed to say that it was in the Spider Cavern and the trap was of my own making. After I entered I popped a cacoon and went to pick up some loot but had a full inventory so I TPd back to town after going back up to the surface. I (or my shadow) must have stirred things up on the first trip because they were right near the entrance on the second entry. To make matters worse there were maggots behind them, and their spawn are what blocked my entry to the rear. Add in a pack of shocking bats to the conviction aura and things went downhill really fast.

I had also played Dorme before in A3 Normal, and started her down the BF path (which was probably a bad idea given the tourney restrictions, but I didn't want to see another trapsin). Was expecting to see her again in A3 Hell, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

RIP Dorme and Amidala

I've been lurking and keeping up with tourny in the thread and surprised to see two of the characters I've played bite the dust.

I still have three horses left in this race: the Invulnerable Dooku, the mighty Organa and Yogi Bear ...um I mean, Ackbar. Go, team, GO!

edit: I would appreciate it if Skunk and Brak could provide a quick post on the skills, etc. of Dorme amd Amidala when they have some time. I had Dorme in A2 and have little feel for what she became (except for having BF as one skill). I had Amidala in A4, and I know she had LS, CS and Valk as her power skills but if there is any additional info on how she played, etc., I am interested. Thanks, guys.

Antilles the Paladin has defeated Mephisto and moved on to Act IV.

It is not often you want Mephisto to target your character rather than your merc, but this was one such occasion. I needed only one 'time out' in the fight.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Solo has Finished off Meph 3 times, and I think he has suffered enough! I felt the same way about him targeting me, If he targeted me I needed about 3-4 healers, if he targeted the merc I couldn't keep up with it.

This Barb is very strong, not fast but strong. He was very safe through the whole act. I made some minor improvements to his crafts and to his merc weapon. He has 2 big concerns right now;
1. AR, CtH most monsters is around 70%, of course you can battle cry tough mobs/bosses (staff mod) His Conc is also a few points off of being maxed still, so that is what I put all of his points into.

2. CBF, no explanation necessary.

I put most of his points into str until I got him up to 127 base. This is all it takes to wield a steeldriver thunder maul. Of course it also takes level 77, so don't get to anxious if someone does find the runes.

There were a couple tough spots:
1. A fana aura szzark the burning, that was probably my scariest moment in the act.

2. A Holy Freeze Doll pack

3. A conviction Bremm, mixed in with a champ boodlord and boss bloodlord pack.

I just realized that none of the characters that I have played have died yet, interesting.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

cripes! Just realised next week is a 1 week Act ... damn you short Act 4!

I need a ruling on it ... I am totally keen, and really want to play, but without overemphasising this, I am sitting Medical Specialist (Radiology) primary exams in 12 days.

I really wont have Act 4 time next week, to put it mildly.

If I can get an extension to the following Wednesday or so, I am fine. If not ... ggrrrr I really don't wanna drop out, this is my favourite tournament I have played

Let me know what y'all think. If I have no leeway I will have to consider hard what to do

oh, and
Binks found Duriel's Shell. Not sure if he should keep it, or if it is better suited to another character or another merc? I am sure solo would enjoy it, as if he needs to be any more beastly.
Thoughts?

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

soulmanz, I think that should be OK. Just play the act as fast as you can when you're ready. It shouldn't slow things down too much, and if need be, we can give the next player an extension as well.

I agree. At this point in the tournament, I think everyone has proved their commitment to it so a couple of days delay is really no big deal.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Extensions at this point are totally appropriate. I've been grateful in the past Skunkbelly tourneys for occasional extensions once the going got slow, that is for sure!

Yaddle is ready to be sent although I still may do some more LK and council runs with her.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Talking about extensions, i am not sure if i can get mine sent sunday, or not. If not no later than monday afternoon. Just got back from vacation last night, and have a lot of work to catch up.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Ahsoka has had a very interesting morning...

First was a very, very welcome drop (screenshot contains some obvious build spoilers)

Moments later, while running around happily (leaving her companions trailing well behind), Bremm came charging over. One strafe into his FE LE bolts was enough to knock out her life bulb... all but a hair. :nervous:

A purple potion quickly remedied the situation and she lives to fight another day. If you had a hand in maxing her fire and lightning resistance, you have my thanks. She's alive today because of your efforts. :highfive:

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

SWITCHES for NM ACT 4
You may send your character to the next player as soon as you are ready. Ideally, you should send them by Sunday the 10th, but as noted, some people may be a bit behind.

IMPORTANT: You may not look at your Act 4 NM character until you have sent your Act 3 character to the next player.

The RNG has decreed no repeats this time... I think that's a first in the tourney!

ALSO, a reminder that Act 4 is a one-week act. If you have a hard time finishing by next Sunday, just let everyone know, and we'll figure something out.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

binks sent

didnt get to level him as I wanted to, but he is fine, and damn! He is easily one of the most powerful I have played yet. 1 point griz with DW synergy is tough as anything, CA and OS are mucho safety, and 1300 nado rocks through packs. Especially flayers!

Didnt upgrade much in the wya of gear, although I did stash my best find
