Skin of the Vipermagi or Iron Pelt?

Hello,
I started a single player enchantress a few weeks ago, with the goal of finally getting through Hell difficulty.
My enchantress does not cast any any direct damage spells (1 point in hydra for luring purposes). Between me and the merc, I am the tank most of the time.

In nightmare worldstone keep, I found the Iron pelt, which has nice damage reductions, high defense, plus a boost to life.
While doing a nightmare countess run, I had a random boss drop skin of the vipermagi for me.

I am currently using the iron pelt.

Will the damage reductions and defense of Iron Pelt still be worth it in Hell? Or should I go ahead and go with the Skin of the Vipermagi?

The original goal was to get a nice runeword armor, but after playing a few weeks single player, I realized that was not quite possible in a reasonable time frame on the legit side of things.

Well if the skin is 20 resists go with the pelt. Any higher I'd say you're better off with the skins. Resists are awesome as well as the +1 skill.

Don't forget the FCR...

Well, fast cast is basically a useless mod for the type of sorc he's playing. He dosen't use any direct damage spells. So other than for teleport (don't get me wrong, teleport is essential for this type of character) he woulden't really need fast cast.

FCR is needed for Teleport as you say, and could be useful for static too if that is used. The value of the 30 FCR is partly not in the FCR itself, but in the fact that it is 30 less FCR you have to get on your other equipment. For example with Vipermagi, Magefist and Arachnid Mesh I think you've got your FCR covered and you're free to use whatever jewellery, shield, helmet and charms are most useful to the build.

True, True.. Personally, I get the 30 FCR from my memory staff on switch. I use it for pre buff, as well as teleporting. After I've buffed my skills, I simply put teleport on the right mouse button and switch to my fighting weapons. When I want to teleport I simply hit my weapon switch hotkey and start teleporting. The FCR on the memory staff covers the required amount, and also allows me to wear whatever armor I want (CoH in my case.. ).

Hmm, well personally I don't like relying on switch for faster teleport on enchantress... that's good for MF sorcs, but IMO makes it a bit harder to use in the middle of combat where an enchantress may need it most.

That being said, the bonuses of CoH more than makes up for 30FCR I'd say...

@Liliel: It's really personal prefrence I guess, but I've never had problems teleporting in the middle of combat. I have my weapon switch mapped to my 'B' key, and like I said, I always set teleport to my right mouse button click of my weapon switch once I'm done my pre-buff .. so in the middle of combat all I have to hit is "B" and I'm ready to teleport, either way it's one key press to start teleporting, whether that key press switches weapons or 'right click' skills is the same difference.

As well, my 'Memory' switch provides other very useful teleporting 'goodies', +3 skills, less cost for teleport; +20% max mana, more mana for teleport, +10 energy, again, more mana for teleporting, +50% enhanced defense, meaning less chance to get hit if I teleport into a crowd, as well as the 33% FCR.

However, I know a lot of people don't actually keep this on switch, for instance anyone who owns a CTA, :) .. however, I don't have one of thoes yet.. if I did I'm sure I'd ditch the memory in favor of it.. :)

Haha I hate that, I had my ES sorc with a CTA and Memory... so much work, they are both very important... and the only thing that you can only hope for is to not die... although I'm with Liliel I hate changing weapons to tele or cast anything used in common battle.

why cant there be a few more wepon switch, 3 would be nice,
one for dmg
one for res
one for fcr

thats the life :D

when i say res i mean like, mass absorb, 4 pgem shield and stuff, not the traditional wizzy and lidless trick.

Well, I went with the Skins, I am planning to upgrade them.
The damage reductions of the pelt did not have near the value in Hell that they had in nightmare.

I did get lucky, and have a Hexfire drop for me. Along with items, my fire resist is 83.

Made it through Act I hell with only minor problems (the main one is the merc's penchant for attacking a cursed extra strong lightning enchanted boss from the wrong angle and dying instantly).
At level 79, my character screen says my melee attack is doing over 4k fire damage. Basically if its not fire immune, it dies quick!

Currently looking to upgrade the merc's weapon, he is currently using Hwanin's Justice.
