i think this is what caught most of our eyes:

you put down zon's dying to bad gear, we put it down as bad playing.

really i think it's the above that has me hung up. i dont sacrifice anything on my hybrid zon. her survivability comes from play style, not gear. i too have ~500 life and i do get in monsters faces to CS them regularly.

one point into magic arrow is enough for li/pi. just like one point into penetrate is enough for me even on champs/bosses and i dont use an ITD bow. all those points could have gone to something useful like CS synergies and fury. you'd have gotten more out of going hybrid or full bowazon than to just put a few into CS. heck you dont even sound like you use CS...

i didnot say it is only gear that makes survivability. my gear is towards survivability and diversity (means move-forward speed and killing speed to me) than dmg and kill speed, thats it. u say 500life is enough, i say 1000life is not enough. how u can survive is your talent which i lack. but i just dont want to slow my killing speed because of tricks i need to do to survive. u dont waste time in tricks? thats talent...

i use CS on bosses (baal and diablo), without it i cant kill bosses. else there are many few cases that i need to use CS. PIs that cause problem are mainly witches in WSK which fire star like thingies. but they proc amplify (brand) when i am hit (i am hit regularly, i cant stand without being hit, i need to be hit:D)

for penetrate, without it (1 skill i mean) i had around 4-5k ar after merc faith, i think 5k is not enough in hell. i dont use faith (%300ar) or dont have godly ar charms so penetrate (skill that gives ar) is important for me.

the posts/critics/suggestions from many members came after i posted my zon, thx for them but in the end i misunderstood sth. these do not offer/suggest gear, they suggest a play style.
"dmg comes from equip/skills/stats, survivability comes from tactics, fun comes from play style", for me that is not practical.

anyway, i dont say or claim my build's better in any case (survivability, kill speed etc....), but maybe best in diversity. but i select my gear towards survivability first diversity next always.

I'm bumping this thread with one of my prouder gaming achievements.

My Amazon is a result of a love affair with the Ice runeword. Astute readers may notice that many of my equipment choices mirror Wmeredith's "one bad bowie..." -- probably because I'm just as much of a speed junkie :)

It took me a solid month and a half of work to accumulate this gear. I've geared up some other characters in this time, but this zon was always my main focus. I could use some better charms, but her equipment, skill and stat point allocation is exactly as I want it.

I was willing to sacrifice a small amount of killing speed for additional survivability, especially on the realms where even a brief lag spike can open you up to a few hits that solid play would normally prevent.

If I wanted to up my damage output, I could switch to a Faith GMB, which would require (I believe) another 40IAS to hit the 8/2 Strafe breakpoint. That, in turn, ties me down to a 45IAS helm and Nosferatu's Coil. Of course, then I lose my 33% Pierce from Razortail (along with its Dex bonus), so I'm not really sure I end doing all that much more damage per second. That gear setup also still leaves me well short of a 7fpa Freezing Arrow with my Ice MAT, which is pretty much impossible to achieve without a Faith merc.

The biggest equipment swap I'm considering is running Infinity instead of Insight on my merc, which would obviously buff my cold damage big time and improve my overall damage output with Faith because of the 83% defense reduction from Conviction. I already leech back a good amount of mana with FA, and can always switch to Strafe to refill my blue bulb.

At some point I will also likely experiment with 2bow/20IAS/dex gloves if I can get my hands on a pair.

one great things about zons (especially hybrids) are how changeable they are. fiddling with gear on a bowa is a great hobby.

The 'Faith' roll made me pretty sad, especially given the cost, but thankfully 8 FPA was the goal. She had a 1.12a predecessor who used Windforce with a 'Faith' rogue, but her AR was always a concern, since she couldn't get nearly as much dexterity / Penetrate as a battle.net version.

In any case, hopefully this amazon was to your liking, despite being cookie cutter. I'd usually shamelessly brag in the SPF, but I always wanted to post here. *hides* Any suggestions are welcome. :) Thanks.

It was the tele-hybrid that caught me off guard. You can pretty much walk over anything in the game. You have one fantastic character there.

Seeing this thread resuscitated reminded me of all the time it took to build Virility in the this thread. The charms were especially nasty to come by, runes were pretty much fake then. Uh.... I hated trading in those days.

Again, congratulations on building Alice, thanks for sharing.

One of my favorite characters I've made:
Plague/Cs Tele Zon

Hits the 68fcr bp, 95ias, has max block and max dr on a switch setup, and can use gm sorb/stack gear in duels.

I know the life is a little low but that's because I prefer frw/res scs on zons instead of lifer scs.

It's a blast in pvp and does surprisingly well.

This Jaina-Solo my jedizon :)

Basically an all passive tree melee zon. called jedizons on the amazonbasin for their tendicy to use lightsabers. They are LOTS of fun to play and Jaina is one of my faves of all the chars in the Kaytie clan.

Her set up is:
66 res all Kiras with a sol on socket

Galdiator Bane armor, slso sol'ed

Pdiamoned Stromshield

8%LL Dracs

Gore riders

T-gods

Her weopon is an Azurewrath with a amn, it has alittle more oomph than a lightsabre, handles PI's better makes ANY undead monster killable no matter what mods it spawns with and (most importantly) it makes pretty sparkles :)

jewelry is 30 res all metal grid, dwarfstar and natures peace

on switch she has titans and a spirit monarch

in her back pack she has a 18/16/7 anni, 17/12 zon torch, 5 acrobatic skillers (1 plain and rest with various mods, 38 life being the best one) 1 175/6 pd sc, 1 100/5 pd sc with 5%fhr, and 2 plain 100/5 pd sc's, rest is a fire res sc to max her fire resist and then rest just 5%fhr sc's to get her over the 86 breakpoint.

this puts her resist at 75 75 85 75 with 38pdr, 35%pdr and 30 mdr. Nothing *too* flashy but it is enuff to make her pretty much immunes to gloam zaps and even the nilly viper poison clouds. She's not the fastst killer in the world but things DO go down eventually and between her dam reduction and high passives she pretty good at staying alive while swinging and chipping away till she kills whatever needs killing at the moment especially once the lifetap goes off :)

Her skills not counting prereqs are decoy maxed, valkyerie maxed, penetrate maxed, critical strike 1 away from being maxed, 3 points in avoid and rest in dodge (after she levels and CS is maxed rest of her points will go in here as well)

And for those times when things get a bit hairy (like with lister or boss frenzytaurs) a nice tuff decoy and free LF on switch thanks to tgods (lvl 13 with plus skills all total) is enuff to to calm things down to managable levels ;)

Her merc is a holy freeze merc to help slow down crowds with an insight eth thresher (I know there are more powerful merc stick choices but insight eth thresherstill does repectable damage AND the aura is handy since when she does need to spam LF in a pinch it usually an emergency and I dont wanna have to worry bout mana issues then :P ) then just a smoke duskshroud for resist and 10% ll crown of thieves for the leech. so while not exactly totin' a doom stick with an ebugged fortie he still does his job and is pretty tuff. And between the merc, decoy and a AWESOME Valk she can usually manage to avoid getting swamped and when push comes to shove she has the LF for back up.

Probably not a char for everybody but for me she is a TON of fun. Like a lot of folks I make chars for a specific purpose in mind--to run nilly, do UT, MF pit or Baal etc and I do have chars for that but Jaina's sole purpose is just to go out and have a blast killing stuff and look pretty doing it and she does that very well :)
