Actually, I'd love some help please. Any opinions welcome on where to place my remaining skill points. I posted my Zon on this page, but the key links are:-

I have a Razortail & War Travs on other characters/stashed that I'm thinking of bringing in. So, I guess my first question is would the extra damage gained (particularly from the belt) offset the loss of IAS I have with Nos Coil?

I'm a bit torn on that one, as I like the feel of having the extra speed.

If it does, and I bring in Razortail then I don't need to add anything onto my Pierce.

That seems to leave, Critical Strike, Penetrate & Valkyrie. (not going java on this build)

I'm happy to take the Valk up to the level where she's getting the best weapon, and then focus remaining points on the 'zon in some way?

I also have Faith, so do the extra points in penetrate really make a huge difference since it ignore's target's defence?

Critical Strike also has diminishing returns, and since I want to make the best use of the points, I'm loath to use them here needlessly.

Any thoughts or experiences in closing out your 'zon would be great to hear.

I've bounced around the forums for a while and received advice that Penetrate/Crit Strike were the options, but I wanted to ask again as there's no going back :-)

Here is my new Gunslinger (thank Kijya for awesome guide :thumbup:):

Current level:84
Stat Points:
Strenght: 207 with Javelin/Shield and 197 with Bow (I calculated my str req "little" wrong, but I am too lazy to rebuild this :D)
Dexterity: 405 with Javelin/Shield and 390 with Bow
Vitality: 143 with Javelin/Shield and 121 with Bow
Energy: 44 (no points used)

Equipment:

Griffons +10/-15 with 15ias jewel (yeah, its lowest possible, but I couldn`t afford better...)
Enigma Mage Plate
Titans 184% ed/6ll and Spirit Monarch 35fcr
Windforce 6ml with Shael
+3 Java gloves or LoH (yes, I want +3/20ias gloves...)

This build is AWESOME!

Then one question, what shield I should put on my merc? And don`t suggest anything expensive, because I don`t have any runes left :D

generally, act 3 cold merc are used for thier cold attack, for the freezing effect. Therefore, a popular choice is spirit monarch - although you will have str problems until somewhere at lvl 96. Often this isn't possible and then something like Lidless Wall or Wall of the Eyeless can offer some nice fcr too.
Now, why don't we go for something with damage, because they won't do damage anyway. therefore, you can use something with resistance as a helm - that nightwing is kind of a waste.

Other option are things like Rhyme for the cannot be frozen, something with resistances like Ancient's Pledge or sanctuary.

P.S. I assume you are running chaos. I have done it myself with a low gear bowazon and I have found act 3 mercs to be very strong, except for diablo lightning hose of dead. So something with lots of mdr would be a very interesting choice for a shield. Gerke's Sanctuary perhaps? try it out and let us know if it works - it's like Gerke's is expansive.

Yes, I run chaos. That Nightwing was lying on my mule, so it didn`t cost anything. That merc survives in chaos very well, but in other places, he dies pretty quickly if I don`t watch his back.

That mdr idea sounds interesting, I will about think that. First I will test Rhyme and Lidless, and when I get Gerkes, I will put it to the test.

screenie of dmg with pride/might merc....I recently changed to an act 1 cold arrow with a harmony bow and like it much better...dmg dropped a bit but she's SUPER FAST!!! What do you guys think?

mmm good times, takes me back to my Dagger tank 'zon I used to have. She got herself up to the start of Act 2 Hell using just a Stormspike, Lionheart breast plate and a Rhyme bone shield. She hit a wall when things started to really slow down in the damage department.

Don't think she ever died though, not once.

first of all dont get me wrong. this post is not an insult to maxdmg bowzons.

i wanted to share my zon because nearly all zons try to get very high dmg but forgetting survivability.

my bowazon (a rebel for above purpose):

equipment:
- dream tiara
- fort armor
- tgods
- brand gmb / switch: thunderstroke + mosers 2pdiamond
- gorerider
- highlords
- ravenfrost / rare @res+lifeleach+stuff ring
- rare gloves manaleach, ias, literes, fireres
- zontorch
- anni

charms:
- 1x 15@res, 1x 4@res, 1x 11fireres with life sc, 1x 11literes with life sc
- others are all max/ar/life gcs, plain life (18+) scs
- some empty space (except cube, 3x2)

skills:
- max strafe
- max valkrie
- some penetrate (ar skill)
- max charged strike
- rest in power strike (synergy)

merc:
- act 1,
- faith bow
- other equipment is junk (lionhearth and talrashas head)

as seen for me survivability + can-run-area count > high dmg for showoff because i want to play with this babe:thumbup:

got to go because i need to make this babe 90+:D

If you kill the monsters before they get to you, you dont need defensive mods.

this doesnot always happen when idiot valkrie goes to shopping and your decoy is killed instantly against some fearsome walking bulls in wsk when your merc is IM'd.

magic arrow is too slow for me if u didnot max it. @res, mf, %life and fhr doesnot hurt, also (for me good) 1-600lite dmg

for penetrate, i didnot ever think that i would switch to brand from windforce, after i tried brand i liked it, it is cool:D. penetrate? those skills are gone for good except champions (where itd has no effect), in WSK there are many....

bow is brand gmb, it is slow normally, i need speed and dmg.

good for you, i cant play with that patience:D

i dont know if u use a2 for pride+might but i guess so. i wouldnot run wsk or chaos with a2, i hate resurrecting him a few times in each run. if u can play with him and not letting him die, it is your talent and strategy. i dont have that talent:)

i am curious, u seems to have nothing in terms of defense, low life, according to your stuff (saw screenshot, i may be wrong), u may not even have 10fhr. res can be hell but maybe it was taken from normal or nightmare.

what if your zon is hit? is it so impossible to be hit?

edit: while i was writing dclone poped and i got 15/14 anni:D, ip was 64

Since you had maxed Charged Strike and some synergies, I thought you would use that against bosses. ALOT better bosskill-skill than any bowskills.

You only need 11IAS for Strafe in a GMB.

I use an A2 merc yes, and with upped eShaft and eVampire Gaze, he has 50%dr. So he survives a few hits when IM'ed. That gives me enough time for me to give him a full rev pot.

And yes, I have no defensive mods on my gear(except the def from Fortitude). My defense is my Valkyrie, Decoy and Dodge/Evade/Avoid..
Im a ranged attacker, I dont get hit that much..

if i would use a2, he would wield pride, not reapers (so no decrepify)
i prefer highlords over atmas, i cannot wait %5 (%5 right?) to proc. sometimes it takes too much time to proc.

i personally prefer magic arrow or basic attack (brand fires explosive arrows). i may be seemd "i am against popular/better tactics/equipment" but i prefer that way. also to change equipment in battle is not a quite acceptable case for me.

What does highlord offers that you need? Almost noting. You don't need the ias, you don't need the deadly strike, you don't need the skills and you don't need the lightning resistance.

You however do need to amp as a physical immune solutions and it is very useful to increase you attack speed (as in damage/second) when it does proc.

P.S. And who is stopping you from using magic arrow or exploding arrows while waiting for the proc. It's complements each other, it's not an exclusion.

i dont agree that highlords is useless.

i need lite res, with highlord %82 double dmg chance, without it %62 double dmg, although it doesnot increase much, ds/literes/+1/ias (when slowed) is good for me, while atma has only amplify which is %5. i am hit many times so brand also procs amplify, no need for atmas for me.

for magic arrow ias helps (from 10fpa to 9fpa). i know, it is not much but still speed is better than dmg in many ways for a bowazon, especially having our immobility issue while strafing.

without 160/60s or 120/45s i think thats the best option to use.

although my zon currently have 900 life, i regret pumping dex so much.

also most of the PI that spawn in WSK3 is PI-LI so need sth else. thats why i use brand basic attack (explosive arrow) and magic arrow.

i know, i act like i am against everyone:D but that is most convenient style for me.
