Running Two Copies of D2 on one computer

i have a problem.
ive made another account as administrator, after installation, i switch back to the old one. when im ready to install the second one, it shows "play diablo 2".. how can i stop the old account from achieving the d2 exp?

no.. grr so frustrated ive been fixing it for > 3hours..

this is what ive done.

1. ive an original d2 and lod pack in account A.
2. i create account B and install d2, but i failed cus its a limited account.
(i just followed the guide on the top post)
3. install d2 and lod in account A with name changing in file. (iunno y it doesnt work now)
4. try to access d2 in account B, but it keeps saying no cd.
5. uninstall both.
6. make account C as another computer administrator.
7. install d2 and lod.
8. attept to install d2 and lod in account A but failed...

need help.. thanks people..

ya i have 2 sets of cdkeys.

the situation im now under is:
- have a lod installed in the spare account.
- cant install another lod in the original account.

Make sure you are only logged onto one account at a time. You have to completely log out of 1 before you install it on the other.

dont mean to sound like a n00b (cuz im not lol) - but has any1 ever got banned for using D2loader? - I know its a 3rd party mod. so its against BN rules - but do they really care anymore? I just find it easier to use that instead of Log off - on - play - log off on XFER off-on mule, ect ect.

Yes they have, all of the previous mass bannings were those using D2loader, maphack etc..........

one of you doesnt know what you are talking about
i doesnt say that you should use 3rd party programs
nor that its safe , but i have used loader for years
more years that i can remember , 4+
and i have never been banned

Another possability would be to run a 2nd copy of Windows in a virtual machine. If you feel comfortable doing that sort of thing you could check out VirtualBox. It's free as in beer so it's more attractive than vmware.

On this 2nd copy of Windows in the virtual machine you could just install your 2nd copy of Diablo 2.

Right Click on properties, and at the end of the Command path add -w
So it looks like "C/Documents/diablo II/" -w

thats not working. right click on what, the d2 icon ? that gives me a target and start in boxes. says not a valid path when i do that.

Right-click your diablo 2 shortcut file and choose properties. Then in the "target" line add a -w at the end. Your target line should read something like:

"C:\games\diabloII\Diablo II.exe" -w


Edit: If you do not have a shortcut of Diablo II.exe, then navigate to your Diablo 2 installation folder, right-click on "Diablo II.exe" and choose "Create Shortcut".

When I select "enable fast user switching" and click "apply options" the chage isn't made. I can't use fast switching and when I go back to the user accounts the fast user switching option isn't checked off. I check of off again and press apply options, go back to check, still not applied. Every time. What the exploitive.

Yeah, I'm an administrator. And there are other user accounts if that matters.

Edit: I figured it out. Ram being used for video memory. Bah. So if anyone else gets that problem, you need more ram too.

Depending on the processing power of your machine, it should be possible to run 3 or 4 copies on the same computer. You'll need 4 unique Diablo 2 CD keys (and if you're playing the expansion, then you'll also need 4 unique D2 LOD CD keys).

I've never tried it though, as

a) I only have 2 copies of D2 + LOD
b) My machine is about 4 years old.

Dang didnt know that i needed seperate D2 CD keys in addition with LOD, thought that only 4 unique LOD CD keys would work. And i dont think im up to challenging my old computer's hardware as its really old too >_>

Aye. When you log onto battle.net via LOD, they'll authenticate both your Diablo 2 classic CD-Key and your Diablo 2 expansion CD-Key. If the classic is in use, you won't be able to log on.

It doesn't work well for me

I tried this method and can get two chars into the same game. However my 2nd character can never stay longer than 1 min. It always get "Your connection is interrupped", while the 1st char see it as "xxxxxx dropped due to time out"

Any way to solve this problem pls?
