Rune Master Ettin Axe with 5 sockets

I've found one of these and as it's a one handed weapon it is the business for me as I'm very poor. Question is though, what should I put in the sockets?

Is there a particular character that would really benefit from using one too?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It will matter significantly on the build and attack you intend to use.

WW Barb needs a specific amount of speed
Conc Barb may need less or more dependign on other gear you use
Same wiht Zerk

Fury Wolf
Frzy Barb
Wearbear...etc

IIRC the base on that is 10 which is considerably slow. For most builds you should be able to add some speed and some ED and have a pretty decent weapon.

I'd use it on a Conc or Zerk Barb, just cuz I prefer 2-handed weapons on WW Barbs and Druids, and I don't like melee Paladins all that much.

I couldn't get the ias tables to display right, so I had to trail-error it using multiples of 5%:

Code:
Class: Barbarian
Attack: Concetrate / Berserk

 ias fpa
  0% 17
 10% 16
 15% 15
 25% 14
 35% 13
 50% 12
 70% 11
105% 10
175% 9

From Phat-Strumpet's post it looks like at least 4 shaels and some outside ias or a combination of fevours and shaels - at least to hit the penultimate breakpoint is the way to go

I also have one of these and always considered it a little slow - although the cbf frees up a ring slot at least

Mine only has 4 socks tho

Chill

5 socks = 5 shaels (a helluva lot easier to obtain than ED/IAS)

Gives you a net of -90 IAS.

Get +20 IAS gloves (ample stuff around) or an IAS j00l elsewhere and you should be set... I think. Not all classes/attacks deal with outside IAS the same, so it'd vary a bit.

FYI... If you're going whirlwind, 3x 15% ias jewels get you to the top breakpoint, but 2 shaels falls just short... assuming the weapon speed calculator linked on the official site is correct.

Hey, thanks all, I was thinking of either a vengance pally or a conc barb. IAS looks like the way to go.

I could also be cheeky and stick in some Eths and have a saucy furysin.

Plenty to think about.....

mmm just remember that for one handers the total onboard IAS should be at -35 speed, so 10-15-15-15=-35... easy as pie.
