Rerolling rares?

Hi. I recently received an ethereal rare Colossus Voulge from Hell Diablo and figuring the high ilvl I was wondering if it would be worth it to reroll it.

Do those 350+ ED only get onto lower, upgradable rares? Or if I reroll it can I get it that high? I've heard that upgrading items causes them to loose their ethereality so I guess a normal ethereal voulge would be stupid to reroll. But if it is worth rerolling what cube recipe do I use?

You would want to use the 3 pskull + soj so you wouldnt loose all the ilvls on the voulge.

I dont believe it would stay eth either.

So that means it probably isnt worth rerolling but eh if u wanna give it a shot go for it. It aint my place to tell ya what to do and what not to do.

First of all, unless you are heavily into duping/botting, wasting a SOJ on rerolling a rare probably isn't worth it.

Second... Diablo may have a lvl higher than 85, but you should check whether any interesting affixes can show up above 85. If not, then any old rare from any area level 85 map can be used.

Third... while you're checking affix levels, check to see how LOW you can go. The "6 pskulls" recipe degrades the ilvl, but it may still be enough to reroll at least once before throwing it away and getting a new one.

I don't think rerolling rares is worth it, but that's my personal opinion. 6 pskulls is two charm rerolls, and that's ignoring the fact that it takes A LOT longer to collect 6 pskulls than it takes to collect 6 pgems.

yep but if u want it to be ethereal i am not sure if rerolling helps.
(for magic ethereal items 3 gem recip makes them normal again.)

Alright guys, doesn't really seem worth it. Especially considering rerolling normalizes the ethereality.

But I still have some questions. Does upgrading rares cause them to loose ethereality? I've seen godly rares with huge damage on ethereal elite class weapons. Did those have to be found as is or could they have upgraded them while keeping it ethereal?

First of all, rerolling rares:
3pskull + soj + rare = socket
1 pskull + soj + rare = high quality reroll, but not necessarily ethereal
6 pskulls + rare = low quality reroll but can't be used for item greater than 3x2 squares in cube.

Upgrading keeps ethereality. It just upgrades the item type only.

Ehm... Upgrading keeps the ethereal bonus, yes, but right now ONLY on weapons.

Never upgrade ethereal armor (of any kind) as they may very well end up with less defense than you started out with, but just unrepairable, and with insane requirements... (Especially hoz, gaze, corpsemourn suffers from this)
