PvP Week 4
Christmas 2009 - Discussion & Sign up
(Shamelessly taken from the last PvP week thread)
What is PvP Week?
Well the clue is in the name. It is a week of PvP games, intended to be a friendly, non competitive way to introduce new plays to high level duelling. If you are new to PvP but worried about getting smeared all over the Blood Moor, don't be. Your new character may have a steep learning curve, but it is everyones interests that you enjoy it and keep playing. Players can split into teams to even out skill levels. Don't expect to win every duel either though
What happens in PvP Week?
- You will get the best idea by reading the write ups from PvP Week 3
- The idea is a PvP game, every night, for a week. Normally there ends up being a mid week break, and some pre PvP week warm ups too.
- The main emphasis of PvP week is Bad Manners rules duelling, but I'm open to suggestions. Someone suggested a day with a simplified GM ruleset the other day. Would this be a good idea? Bear in mind that these rules would have to be finalised fairly soon.
- If anyone has any ideas for an end of week mini Tournament, please let me know. I thought it might be nice to incorporate something, not too complicated or time consuming though.
- PvP Week - The Questions Thread is a wealth of good info and is always open if you have any questions.
- I'll do my best to write up all the duels, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to, I'm likely to be at my parents house for a day or two whichever week is chosen.
OK, you have convinced me, I want to have a go, how do I get started?
1. Read the awesome Updated PvP Guide and the Bad Mannered Addendum to the PvP Guide
2. Have a look at your existing characters. Maybe one could be re-equipped or adapted for PvP.
3. It is best to build a character specifically for PvP, so pick a new build from the guide & get questing.
4. Level that character - Pits, Pindle or MP Baals will all do the job.
5. Join a game & give duelling a go.
Hopefully some of the current group of PvP players will make some new characters for the occasion too.
So when will PvP week be?
- Well, there is nothing to stop you starting a new character now.
- The weeks I am available to run it are:
21st - 27th December
28th December - 3rd January
These are Monday to Sunday dates, the weekend before can be used for practicing or testing builds. The second set of dates would suit me much better, as I'm going to be visiting my parents over Christmas. I'll try to host some Baal runs nearer the time for people to level up their characters a bit as well.
- Yes, I know this may be a bit early and you may have forgotten about it by then. I am posting it now so that people have a chance to get characters together before the PvP week begins.
I thought Maxicek hosted PvP weeks?
- Yes, he does, but as he's busy at the moment he suggested that someone else should host it this time instead. We'll be back to normal service next time. I'll do my best to do some writeups
