Pronunciations

The other day, I was sitting around in class, and was just thinking why I pronounce Occy, Ossy. And then I thought about how there are people from around the world at the SPFs and started wonderinf how they pronounce some of the D2 things.

Here are a few of my pronunciations:

Occy= ah-see
Tir= teer
Sol= sohl(I think that's correct. I say the 'O')
BotD= bee-oh-tee-dee
Hoto= ho-toh
CoH= see-oh-'h'
Lenymo= le-nee-moe
psynergy= sih-ner-gee

Those are all I can think of at the moment. How do you all pronounce this?
 
I pronounce things a little differently:

Occy: okky
Tir= Ter
Sol= Sole (like hole)
BotD= bot ed
Hoto= ho-toh
CoH= never tried pronouncing it :P
Lenymo= le-nee-moe
synergy= sin er gee

I bet most of them are wrong though, but it's Warriv's fault for not saying "Wow! Cool BotD!"
 
I remember when I was first starting the game, I never really paid that much attention what NPCs said, I was eleven or twelve, and I remember saying:

Horogath= Hoh-ra-gath
Lut Gohlein= Loot-golian
Kurast= Ker-ast
Arreat= didn't even bother trying
Travincal= Trav-in-call

I'd remember talking with friends that knew how to pronounce most of these things, and they wouldn't know what I was talking about.

Except it's Harrogath and Lut Gholein. ;)
 
Yeah I had trouble with pronounciation when I started playing, since I used to own the spanish version of the game it would be a pain in the butt pronouncing things since it was spanish as in from spain (I know it doesn't make sence but think of it as the difference from american english to england english)
 
Occy=Ocky (to rhyme with Rocky. it is short for Occulus fafter all, which is a hard 'k' sound, not a soft 's')

the ones I wonder about are runes

Tir= t'r, like the last syllable of after but without the stress
Dol= Dole, like the pineapples
Ber= bear, like a grizzly
Fal= faal, with a flat 'a' like in 'father'

and what about Baal
I say 'Bayl' (or 'Bale' or 'Bail)' with a long 'a' but my partner insists that with the double 'a' spelling in should be closer to 'Ball'
 
I think normally the 2 "a"s mean that it is supposed to be Ball, but in this case Blizz has called him Bale (Bail, bayl, take your pick).

Oh, and for me, Ber = B er (as in ernest)
 
Occy would be aw-see
Tir is tear
Fal Tal Ral Mal all rhyme, and end with Al like the name, Al, not like the spanish Mal.
Baal is bale.
Lenymo is lenny moe and Sol is Soul,Sole
 
Well for most items I tend to ignore the 'common' way of shortening them and just go for the full item name. I can be rather difficult like that. Anyway, runes are rather fun to play around with.

Tir - Tear as in crying, not ripping apart. (Or course depending on your accent you may pronounce things slightly diffrent. :-p)
Sol - Sol as in the name of our solar system. Imagine saying the first bit of 'Solar' with a deeper 'O' sound.

The strangest one for me is Amn. I repeatedly say Anm because I can't find a easy way to pronounce it the correct way. Anyone help me out?

Sorry, I can't help you with Amn. But I think it's easier to say Amn than Anm. I do say "Leynmo" for some reason, though.

I think I use Spanish-ish pronunciations for most... "a"s are "ah"s, e's are eh's, etc. I don't use abbreviations like Hoto or BotD so I don't know how I'd pronounce those.
 
pretty much the same as fec, other than my ok-eees

good to see you spelt pronunciation right, i've picked up my boss on that one. (he already hated me)
