PORTAL to PINDLE gone!

I went ahead and did all quests in all acts with my hammerdin.
After that the red portal to pindle is gone, i cant get in, Why is this ?

Is this a bug or does it close forever after i kill the....dude down there ?

You can either kill Nihlathak, or get the Halls of Pain waypoint, but not both. If you do both, then the Pindle Portal closes. (The idea is that there will always be a way to get down there.)

Ye ok, so I was stupid to do the quest. I'll remember that the next time.

The only way to meet Pindleskin now is to go through the Halls of Pain and Halls of Anguish, which can be quite fun at times. I've found a Bonehew once after plowing through those many swarms of flayers. Once entering Nihlathak's Temple, the table turns. Pindleskin and his minions will be on you immediately and can be dangerous, especially if you're a melee character and Pindleskin spawns with FELE + conviction, fanaticism, etc.

Getting the Halls of Pain waypoint closes the portal. If you kill Nihlathak, but you don't get the waypoint, then the portal will still be open. And if you get the waypoint, but you don't kill Nihlathak, then the portal would close.

This is all quite true. I had to retire my non-ladder matriarch trapasin because she accidentally triggered the WP one night and now she cannot rapid-shop Anya for big claws.

Besides, how often do you hear people say, "Oh goody! Let's all run Nihlathak"?

BTW he's easy for a trapasin in Hell. MY Corpse Explosion is set-it-and-forget-it and usually kicks in before his does. :winner:

I usually open all the portals but never kill Nihlathak in Hell. Anyway, the reward is very crappy : Personalizing an item is the best way to reduce dramatically its trading value :lol:.

Have you actually tried that? I tested it myself both ways before I replied, and the portal remained open. Only when doing both, did it close.

Oh, and yes, some people do like Nihlathak for rerolling his charms. They might not be as good as Baal charms, but he's faster/easier to kill.

I just tested it on Single Player, and it seems you are right. Sorry for the misleading information.
