players settings/chest drops

I know that a higher player setting effects the quanity of items dropped by chests but when does the player setting actually go into effect? In other words, with monsters, if I'm on players 3 and switch to players 8 any monster thats already spawned stays at players 3. But what about chest? For example, could you run LK by entering at p/1, teleporting to the super chests and switch to p/8 right before opening them and get the extra drop? Seems too simple, yes?

Yep, the relevant players setting is the one at the moment that you open the chest - not your players setting at the moment that the chest was spawned. So it is possible to clear lower Kurast on /P1 and then go to /p7 or /p8 to open all the chests. Some forumites consider this to be cheesy -but its not forbidden by forum rules.

It's seen as cheesy and to some members it's almost cheating, and certainly, they are right.

But anyway, most people running LK super chests does it to find high runes, and since such things do not exist, it doesn't matter

Your post made me think of something else...I know everyones running LK for all(LOL) those Ber's, but do the chest drop other high runes too? I don't ever remember someone saying they got a LO or whatnot from the chests.

I ususally have better luck with the chests than the countess. But then Nili's temple trumps the countess for me too so that may just be a statstical anommoly.

Funny you would say that...I have always felt that LK was the best place to find mid level runes. And that was before I even knew about these super chests. As an example, I've run(full clears) LK 3 times with my new character. In those runs I've found (1) Lum (1) Io (2) Hel and and El and an Eld. Now tell me how many countess runs it would take to duplicate that? I know, I know, the stat freaks would say I'm lucky and certainly I am(LOL) but them are the facts.

Interesting. I don´t do any runs, but I´ve had significantly more luck with decent runes (the Ort-Lem range) in Kurast Bazaar and Upper Kurast, both in NM and in Hell. There are a couple of super chests in these areas too, you know. I don´t understand why people don´t run them more often.
