PGems and trading

Do perfect skulls count as pgems in trades?

Just want to clarify for when I start trading :p

Re: PGems and trading

I guess it depends on the trader, but I think they usually do.

Re: PGems and trading

They do unless otherwise specified (which never happens).

Re: PGems and trading

You can definitely reroll charms with p skulls.
Some people may pay more for them to reroll rares, esp rare jewels for twinking gear...

Re: PGems and trading

Most people who are looking for PGems are looking for them for one of two reasons.

1. Rerolling stuff. Most likely GCs in hopes of good skillers. In this case PSkulls are fine

2. Crafting. In this case, they are probly after a specific type of PGem, and will ask for that type explicitly.

In short, I think trading PSkulls is fine >90% of the time

Re: PGems and trading

In my opinion some people may think p.skulls are more valuable since they can also be used for rerolling rares. however i dont think there are much of them in the traders.

Re: PGems and trading

Save your pskulls for rerolling rares, mainly jewels and diadems. Diadems have an innate magic lvl and you can get +2 skills with a bunch of other goodies.

Re: PGems and trading

Sure Diadems can spawn high level mods at any time (even with a low level character), but...

The problems with rerolling Diadems is they have a huge quantity of mods to choose from, so the odds of a nice combination are very low. At 6 PSkulls per reroll, it's likely to take hundreds (or even thousands) of PSkulls to get a good diadem. And on top of that, there are some reasonably common items like Harlequin Crest that are going to be very tough to surpass anyways.

So you can spend (literally) thousands of PSkulls rerolling rare diadems before you get something "nice" - and if you spent those on rerolling Baal charms instead, I'd be willing to bet the odds for a great charm (or three) in that timeframe are much higher. Especially since you can build a GF runner and gamble coronets with quite an efficient rate compared to accumulating Baal charms, so the overall incentive for rerolling Diadems seems quite low to me.

I'd say jewels - and possibly boots/belts/gloves (the good rare mods are relatively low level, so you can tip the scales a little) - are really the only good choices for PSkull use beyond rerolling magic items.

I think that about sums it up. I traded for a bunch of PSkulls pretty early into my SPF career to re-roll jewels to get some great twinkers, and boy am I glad I did. I can get from 1-15 on any toon in no time, and from there on out it's 1.06 RC time.

It's not for everyone, though, and it really does just save time (regular envy jewels will do just about the same). I'd say just save them yourself and make some good twinking gear, or just re-roll charms and/or trade them as usual.

Re: PGems and trading

OT: krizalllid, do/did you play XCOM? I looked for an intro thread for ya, but didn't see one...anyway, I love XCOM and TFTD and still play occasionally (thanks to DOSbox, I can do so without having to keep an OLD 486 up and running...)

I've lost more than 1 squad to chryssalids or tentaculats...brrrr!!

Anyone else remember this classic turn-based game? Sure, the graphics suck, but the gameplay is STILL great!!
