Patriarch Vayde - Novamancer
Hi All,
Yesterday I took some time out of my Pit running to finally Pat my necro. He's been stuck in the Pits since level 67, so it was a pleasant change of pace to do some questing with him.
A fairly standard build, I guess. Most would consider him to be a sugary, baked snack...
Stats below are in his questing gear. Skills drop by 1 and resists by 50 when using his MF kit.

Weapon: +1/46% Death's Web with a +3/-5 Facet (totalling -51% resist)
Shield: PDiamond Homunculus
Amulet: 22 Maras
Rings: 2 x SoJ
Belt: Arachnid's
Gloves: Trang's
Boots: Aldur's
For MF runs I swap out the Vipermaji for PTopaz Skullders, and the Arachnid for an upped Goldwrap giving me 300 %MF.
Skillers: 4 Fungal GCs, a 38% Gheeds, SCs of Good Luck, Vita and LR. 12 slots free in inventory.
Merc is Defiance with Fortitude AP, Insight Eth Cryptic Axe, Ral'd Andy's Visage.
Levelling was easy as usual (I'm starting to think about stopping this low level twinking business, as it's becoming a bit tedious) - Khalim's + Hsarus, 1.09 RC and Iratha's. Once I hit 30 I started using Nova with some generic caster gear. Swapped in a Blackbogs when I could, then replaced things with end-game gear as and when possible. I levelled to 42 before entering nightmare (to equip Homunculus), and to 67 before entering hell (Maras).
Once I got to The Pit I started running it on /p8 for levelling purposes. I'm probably going to stick to that until I hit 90, then drop it down to /p1 for MF runs. I found the Throne room reasonably easy, using CE for the immunes. Not sure I'll run WSK with him - it's doable, but probably not the most efficient.
All in all, a very enjoyable and powerful character. I prefer him to my strafer for Pit runs - seems safer, quicker and can easily carry more MF. That's what he'll be doing for the foreseeable future.
I'm still not sure what to do with the remaining skill points - maybe a point in Bone Armour, maybe an Iron Golem... I remain undecided.
I really like the Clay Golem for his slowing effect. He makes bosses very safe (although killing them is fairly slow using LR and Nova).
He's found me a couple of grailers so far, including Nat's Mark. HF drops were unremarkable (so much so that I've forgotten them already).
Next up, I'm thinking about levelling my Orb/Nova sorc from 85 to 90, running an as yet to be decided target. On the other hand I'm wondering whether I should rebuild her to go max block. I went 156 strength for Tal's+Spirit, but I find that Nova requires close proximity to monsters, and think max block may be a better way to go. I'm also considering a non Tal's / Spirit version (assuming I can get my hands on a Fathom) which would suit max block better.
Finally, I'm wondering what to do with my Grief. I was going to rebuild my zealot, but the thought does not fill me with any excitement - the character is a little one dimensional for my tastes. Perhaps a frenzy barb, but I don't have a suitable companion sword (except maybe an Azurewrath).... decisions, decisions :scratchchin:
