After finding Tyrael's a few years back I wanted to use it rather than letting it gather virtual dust. I have done a number of zealots in the past but only one avenger, very early in my playing career. I looked at the available runewords and Destruction seemed like an interesting choice. It took a while to get the runes together though and many other runewords kept seeming more interesting. Eventually I assembled it at the end of last year, so presenting

Tyreal is is based on Asmodeous' Justiciar, providing Fanaticism himself and getting Might and Conviction from the Mercenary. I don't think an explanation of his name is needed this time..

Not much really. A few crafting runes & jewels as usual. a Sparking Grand Charm of Incineration in A5. Hellforge dropped a Gul.


Gameplay

All the classes have defensive skills. Barbarians have War Cry, Sorcs have Armours and of course Teleport. Bear Druids have shockwave and so on. As I played this character through, I thought about what a paladin has. Defensive auras maybe, but that won't help kill stuff. Holy Freeze is pretty good. But really I think the basis of paladin defense is high block with holy shield. They are not clever fighters. If you need someone to charge the enemy heavy hitters without questioning if it is a good idea, you are going to want to call up the paladin.

So when you create a build that removes the cornerstone of a paladin's defense (i.e. the shield) you can expect trouble. Delirium helped, but holy freeze and Reaper's is probably more reliable. So the character was a bit of a glass cannon, especially after a heavy stat investment for the Colossus Blade. I died more than a few times, but mostly managed a naked body retrieval. Of course I have edited them out of the video so I look like a much better player.

So what about Tyrael's? Is it any good? For this build it was not a bad choice, despite the ridiculous level requirement. The -100% stats didn't help much when I needed to invest anyway for the sword. Swapping Tyrael's, one BKWB and Mara's for CoH, Ravenfrost and Highlords would have given better resists, stats and IAS. Slain Monsters Rest in Peace was OK, but I could have used Redemption too. Tyrael's was an OK choice, but they should have given it +2 skills too.

Volcano went off all the time but didn't do much other than look cool. Knockback from Molten Boulder was useful. Altogether though it was good to use the items on what was quite a fun glass cannon.

What can be said to sound somehow different...well, nice write-up, I would have thought about the build to be somehow stronger but I guess that's something related to the unlogical strength of Grief. At least seeing all those flamings is entertaining!

I'm a big fan of Destruction after equipping it on a merc in my Runeword Bonanza sept, and I plan to build a 2H melee character that wields one with an Infinity merc. What a great character, and nice write up, which I will definitely reference when I get to my Destruction-wielding character Congrats!

Cool char and I agree, tyraels should have had something more unique or OP given the level req, like "cannot be cursed" or +3 to all skills something, but its nice to see you made it work.

@Babyhell Yes, made in iMovie, it is the first time I have really used it. I'm quite happy as a first attempt, a few things I would like to change but sometimes you come up against the balance of simplicity & control in iMovie.

@skiffcz You can probably see in the video, sometimes I just run with LMB held down and press shift to attack. This works well vs big targets or groups, but sometimes you hit to the side of a small monster. Other times I namelocked the target. All in all not too bad though.

I'm glad you asked me that @D2DC . Izual seemed like a nice guy on his Facebook page, but later I found out that was all a front. I was a fool to have trusted Facebook.

@skiffcz I deliberately keep my armour production in low numbers to keep demand high. Think of it like the designer sneakers of your world. There are much cheaper running shoes that work much better, but they sign each one and keep the supply limited, so all you mortals want them. That is exactly how my armour works.
