This Necro finished off my Unfinished Business Sept, and was quite a fun note to finish that Sept on: A good balance of power and challenge, allowing p7 through NM, p5 through A2 Hell, and p3 through Pat (except ultimately dropping to p1 for some A5 surface areas). The Sept was focused on some builds on my to-do list, either as not tried during my 7x7 or rebuilding a character from that with better gear. This guy was the latter, and the backpack full of skillers (and other +skill gear) compared to what was available early-ish in my 7x7 made him a very different and more enjoyable playthrough than his predecessor.

First things first, it turned out that I didn't have a +3 BS wand in my SC stash, but the Pally and sixth character in this Sept lucked out and found one, allowing this item to build around and equip very early at clvl48:

Playthrough
As noted in a progress update to Hell, he was standard melee twinking until he could equip Spirit sword, then a White wand at lvl 35 until he could equip the end-game wand at level 48. As noted in that update, I dropped down from 125 FCR for Hell, shifting in Mara's for +skills and resists and a nice FHR/resist rare belt until Arachnid's became available at lvl 80. Using Darkforce was quite fun, just to not use Spirit and at ~half the strength investment relative to Lidless. His life pool was beefy with CtA and the summons to do their crowd control duty (not intended to do much damage).

Bone Spear was very powerful in early Hell, even at p5, but it started tapering off in A3, prompting a drop to p3, and the lesser power against high-life (and I presume somewhat magic resistant monsters?) in A4 and particularly A5, prompting further drop to p3, and ultimately p1 for surface areas in A5 because lots of fast moving projectile-throwing monsters that weren't super fun to take on. I limited use of CE, but ended up using in A5 a bit more, particularly around the fast moving low-life monsters and gloams and witches.

McCoy did my standard twinked playthrough approach in Hell of all quests but otherwise direct playthrough, except full-clearing all A85 areas and the weird A5 portal areas (one of which had the flame-shooting Salamanders :)). He was a great mix of plenty powerful, but also requiring some care and engaged playthrough. That was likely due to my choice to go with 1 pt skeletons (with plus skills giving 5 of them) and 1 pt revives (with plus skills giving 10 of them), and not using bone prison. Prison is much safer, as skeletons dropped more quickly than standard Fishymancer with not-maxed mastery, and revives couldn't keep up with the team in most areas and disappeared regularly without teleport to keep them close. So keeping the summons up, while casting bone spears and amp, and the occasional CE, kept the battlefield engagement high. And at higher p-settings it kept merc and bone spears from 1-hitting everything and CE from being too powerful when used.

Gloams and witches in Anya rescue and in WSK2 were surprisingly easy to manage, with maxed LR and able to dodge (and not shying away from CE with those rolls). Definitely fun to smile at that roll twice (plus in the Plains in A4 with Gloams). And Ancients were kittens on the first roll with summons (it happened to be non-amp, but I would have likely gone ahead with amp roll). Iwent back to summon Eldritch's minions as an army before hitting the altar:

In general, I found it a very engaging playthrough Hell, with a much more diverse set of skills to cast and challenge staying steady with each incremental reduction in p-setting. The higher +P&B skills definitely made him more enjoyable than my first attempt, and able to manage higher settings without relying too much on CE to spam once the first enemy dropped. A couple fun screenshots, Diablo trying to bone prison McCoy but he moved too quick, and showing summon army supporting the bone spears and spirits; lots of fireworks in the WSK with Vampire summons; and an army of Balrogs fighting Baal:

McCoy actually had some, unlike that last few characters in this Sept! He found a Mal in A3, Gul at HF (for very good HF luck on this Sept), and a Realgar JOF in a one of the A85 areas:

What's Next?
For McCoy, he will become a low-key Cow Runner, shifting to the Beast-wielding poisonmancer build, and he should be able to hit 125FCR with one of the 2/20 amulets I have (two for necros, but none for other classes). So he will likely be my Cow entry for next year's RFL, assuming I'm still up for doing extended target runs by then. I may actually use him in the meantime as a DWeb poisonmancer for RFL Round 3 in the Pit at p7, with some higher MF in hopes he gets some eth grail, or even a major luck to finish off the main grail.

Aside from him, this completes this Sept, but I have the 2H Melee Sept, with three characters complete. So next up will be the Amazon Fuzzy Dodger with Ribcracker, plus a craft tourney HC pally that I just started after deeds-ing my first entry to finish that HC tourney sept. I also have another project pretty far along that I may post about, but it's contingent on getting a drop before RFL Round 3. If that happens, she'll likely be my entry instead.

Awesome write-up and screenshots. This just makes me even more excited for my intent to build my dentist necromancer, hopefully this year.
