Patriarch Grey - Spire of Honor Charger with Sanctaury

Grey is the ninth character to complete his journey in my Colour-Coded Sept Project. The project is based around having one character class respresent each of the seven colours of the rainbow, as well as the 4 additional colours available for equipment. Basically, all gear must adhere to the chosen colour of the character, as well as skills where possible.


Two items stood out to me when looking through the possible grey items: Guardian Angel and Spire of Honor. Spire of Honor is obviously VERY slow, but luckily my favourite Paladin skill doesn't give a hoot about weapon speed and a lance-carrying Charger was born. The only real problem was that there aren't any grey auras, so I had to fudge it a little bit and call Sanctaury silver (close enough!) and he was on his way. First some stats, then some thoughts.

Other Notes and Final Thoughts

- I love Charge. I really wish it was an Oskill. I would immediately drop everything and make a charging sept if that was ever to happen.

- Sanctuary... mixed bag. Great for Undead, since KB (crowd-control) and extra dmg. It even seems a bit too OP as it works on bosses and champs as well so any undead-heavy regions are basically laughable. It obviously falls quite short in areas where there aren't any undead, though I'm glad I tried it. I could see it workign very well as a situational aura for endead regions, but not the main aura for standard gameplay.

- Because of this, for I think the firts time ever, Act 2 was my favourite of the lot.

- I really would have liked some leech on this guy, but potions were okay enough for the most part. I wouldn't recommend going without leech though if you're going to try one.

- Do NOT make a charger without CBF. That was probably the most annoying part of his adventures. Getting chilled for a Charge means you're a sitting duck until the charge completes 9which takes a LONG time). And SoH is so slow that if he whiffed and did a normal attack it made the whole process even slower.

- Would I reccomend this char to anyone? Not if it's your first Charger. If you're going to build a charger, definitely make a powerful and safe one first. After that, making a weird one like this is more fun. He misses a bit of the steamrolling aspect that comes with traditional chargers.

Another nice one! Why no socket in SoH for an Amn and life leech (or pSkull for dual leech), given your reference to preferring to have leech? And maybe a Cham instead of Ort or Ral for CBF :p

Socketing the SoH would have been smart, yes. Mostly laziness kept me from doing it, and I could manage fine with potions. Chargers give you a lot of 'down time' in the fighting while you re-position, so lots of time for pots to take effect. As for the Cham.... maybe next time. ;)

This is all correct. The ED% doesn't work, but the increased knockback range was crucial for my crowd control in undead-heavy areas. Also, I didn't really have anything else to put points in so I figured I'd give it a proper go. :)

I thought it broke physical immunity as well?
It does, for the undead. Physical resistance of undead is ignored for the person using the aura.

I was thinking as I read the collection now kind of feels like Reservoir Dogs. Nobody gets to be Mr Black. Maybe there is an MP project in there somewhere.

Thanks! Two more colours to go, according to the transform files. Black (looks like somebody DOES get to be Mr Black this time around;)) and Gold.

I agree, a Reservoir Dogs/Colour-themed MP group would be awesome!

Congrats!!

My charger had an opposite experience with sanctuary (comes from Lawbringer merc). On charger, knockback away from you trumps towards you anytime:ROFLMAO:

No surprise act 2 was the most PITA I've ever played with a build..
