(A hardcore semi-solo, semi-twinked, journey)

The Name
There is an author who writes about the benefits of idleness, whose work I quite like. His name is Wringham. My brother and I were joking that he may have an efficient, far-too-serious, German cousin called Wringheim. I know the Paladin doesn't have a German accent, but he's hilariously serious and (as we all know) highly efficient.

The Plan
Wringheim started as a co-op character with my brother, who was playing a lightning sorc. Wringheim went with conviction, for obvious reasons. This journey was initially untwinked, but when my brother lost interest, I am sad to say I ended up twinking Wringheim. I don't have anything against twinking, but for me personally it tends to take the fun out of the game a bit.

Skills & stats
Initially Wringheim went with max conviction and zeal, and was on the look out for elemental weapons. Later, when Wringheim was twinked, he switched to a fanatacism and zeal mix.

The Journey
The co-op, untwinked section with my brother was great fun. We played on and off over a series of months until about Hell Act 1. Wringheim wielded The General's Tan Do Li Ga, as well as some Cleglaws Pincers he found. This combo we nicknamed "the slow whipper". It did little damage, but was extremely effective crowd control, allowing my brother to blast fools with lightning and stay close without being overwhelmed. Conviction was obviously a boon to the sorc. The pinnacle of the untwinked play was a mob somewhere dropping an almost-perfect Tiamat's Rebuke, which was a brilliant fit for the build.

Sadly, my brother decided to pursue some non-Diablo activities. For one session we twinked both our characters, and then I continued with Wringheim, twinked and solo, until the end. I wanted to try a physical Zealot build due to lacking any particularly good elemental weapon. Wringheim ran with Heaven's Light scepter socketed with two shaels, and some mid-tier zealot gear. He had no real way of dealing with immune to physical, so simply ran past them, which led to a few close calls, especially in the lead up to Baal, running past cursed Blood Lords. Eeeek. Baal was a pushover and gave nothing.

Special mention to Emilio who, wielding an ethereal Obedience thresher, and buffed by level 23 Fanatacism, was an absolute beast and did far more than his share of tanking and spanking.

The Future
As per usual for my twinked characters, I am feeling uninspired. I did not particularly love the physical Zealot build with it general feeling a little 'squishy'. This is probably because I am contrasting it to my iPDR barb and assassin, who are both delightfully tanky. I am thinking of using Wringheim's last re-spec to become a Hammerdin and really embrace humourless efficiency. I've also never actually played a Hammerdin, but quite like farming Chaos Sanctuary, where I understand the build shines. I don't have any particularly high-end gear, so we'll see how it goes.

Congrats Russel, any Guardian, twinked or not, is an achievement. And although your char and his merc are twinked, it's still not OTT Uber Gearz. I love the eth Obedience Thresher. Any char that doesn't need Reapers Toll or Insight should go with this weapon for the big damage it does. (And don't get me started on Infinity which everyone is swimming in right?) I have Obedience in eth Treshers, Partizans and Poleaxes. But upgrade your desert merc to either Might (for offense) or HF (for defense).

You had a Tiamuts Rebuke but went with Gerkes, a defensive shield. No probs with that but a spirit shield would have given +resists, +skills, FHR and allow you to swap that heavy strength investment for life, a must for HC play.

No points in Vengence? You need not fear Physical Immunes with only a 3-5 point spread.
After life, resists and damage, you need some form of crowd control, which the Paladin lacks. The runeword Nadir offers Cloak of Shadows charges. But the Darksight helm offers CoS + the all important Cannot Be Frozen.

Dude, why is your merc wearing the Duriels? Give him the Smoke and you wear the Duriels for the CBF. There's an old saying: a frozen Zealer is a dead Zealer! But you Guardianed and that is the most important thing.

Make those changes and level up at Shenk , Eldritch and Pindle before transitioning to Hammerdin. The Hammer kicks a$$ in Chaos Sanctuary but really shines with Enigma. Good Luck!
 
Good points Dave! Had I mustered more enthusiasm for the character in the latter stages, I'm sure I would've thought of better arrangement of gear, but he made it through anyway...

Switched over to Hammerdin. They are good. What a surprise :p.
