OT: The Daily Thread

RL: we went on a weekend out with my running buddies, the wives and the kids. 31 people in total: 14 adults and 17 children. It was fun. Busy obviously, with that amount of people and especially kids, but so much fun. The youngest was about 1,5 years old, the oldest two 15, but still they all got along so well. We did a few hikes with everyone, and then a 32K run on Saturday afternoon with 5 people. The other 2 are injured, but they were kind enough to function as mobile aid station :). Unfortunately we didn't have any snow then, but still it was a beautiful run.

My muscles were quite stiff the days after, which isn't something that happens often. So that clearly means I still have quite some work to do when it comes to training for altitude gain, given that the Zugspitz has 4000 metres of those.

D2: I've been leveling my untwinked 99er Barb a bit, mostly at Pits, still searching for that Grief and/or Oath base. Still no luck though. I also played my untwinked 99er Paladin a bit here and there, but can't really focus on him for too long for some reason. Since it's HC, I don't try to force it, and just play another character instead. Which, next to the Barb, has been my Novamancer. Really one of my favourite builds, so now that I got him to pat status to take on Cow level duties in the upcoming RFL, I've been leveling him in the Pits. No good drops yet, but fast leveling guaranteed. He's currently level 89.

OVG: I still want to try out the new PoE expansion, but can't bring myself to do something else than D2. Still ... ;). The second expansion of Grim Dawn is also nearing release, so I'm keeping an eye on that one as well.

@T72on1 That sounds like fun, other than the running part. I could handle some hikes. I have an 11 and 9 year old so it's cool that it was a family affair. Sometimes it's tough to do things with friends once people start their families.

RL: I got put in charge of the cub scout pinewood derby for the 3rd year in a row. Last year it became frustrating because our pack more than doubled in size. I love all the new kids participating but running the even became a challenge. This year I have some software to help organize it, so it should go much smoother.

Non-Video Game Fun: I've been reading Brandon Sandersons The Way of the King, its a stupid long book at 1250 pages, but its very good so far.

D2: Leveling my untwinked sorc and I really want to start a Druid or a P&B Necro.

OVG: The last 2-3 months I played a lot of Warframe its pretty fun leveling and unlocking new items but after a while I found the end game kind of boring. I am playing some D3 S16 HC with friends.

RL: My water is reconnected, so that's nice. However, my boiler is now screwed and -5 degrees celsius is not a good time to have no heating, especially when you have a crested gecko who needs heating. I really don't need this crap just now.

D2: Nope, pulling long lab hours at the moment, deadlines and all that.

OVG: Reading counts right? I at least get a bit of reading before bed.

Yep, reading counts.
Good luck on the heat / boiler issue. Hoping the best (and expecting no less).

I am going to go on my first ever Skiing trip since ~1995 and I'm a lil nervous. With the GF and her family. It's gonna be fun and games, but I got a bad feeling for me to end up in hospital somehow. Let's hope it's not the arms and hands :D
:oops::rolleyes:

D2: leaving town at Grail -10. HoZ dropped finally off of De Seis. What a good boy he was today.

OVG: i don't read before bed. Except for SPF of course :p

RL: only three more days left in beautiful LA. Then back home to the tundra of northeastern ohio.

D2: Not really.

OVG: Everyone in the forum that has an account in Go that has posted their code should be getting gifts from me regularly. This Sunday when I get home I’ll probably hunt for Groudon.

HoZ to put you at -10? Crazy game at times :).
It is! Had to find 2 mang songs, 3 griffons, windforce and complete gris set before that unqiue gilded shield dropped.

Next in line is hopefully BK ring (last missing jewelry) and Spirit Ward. At least I expect them to drop next.

RL: leaving on a weekend to Luxemburg tomorrow with a few fellow runners. There's quite some snow there right now, which I hope will stay that way, because I love running in the snow. We'll be doing a part of the Mullerthal Trail, which is incredibly beautiful. I ran the UTML 75K there two years ago, and it was by far the most beautiful ultra I have ever done.

D2: still playing my untwinked 99er Barb here and there. He has finally managed to make an Oath and make the transition to dual Sword, but that Grief base refuses to drop. Had another two PBs yesterday, but one had 2os and the other got the same amount through the cube recipe.

Next to that I'm leveling up a FA Bowazon. She's currently in Act 2, NM, killing incredibly fast even on /p8. I forgot how much fun a FA Bowazon is.

OVG: nope.

RL: Played some CoD Blackout on PS4 today. Anyone on PS4 play? My friends and I are always looking for a 4th for quads. I have an interview on February 5th that I will be flying back to Kansas City for. I grew up doing electrical work with my grandpa who is an electrician. I applied for a union journeyman position to get licensed. Decided I'm giving up law enforcement for trade work because the money is just too good to pass up.

D2: Farming LK for infinity. Sur#2 just dropped. Im 200 runs in and have a Ber!

Think about it though, do electricians get to carry a gun?

RL: I've been without heating for 9 days now, and I've bloody freezing. I haven't had a day off in two weeks either, partly because the lab is so warm and cosy. However, my experiments are on standby until we figure out an issue, which I can't tackle until Monday, so I'm off for the weekend. A bit of work from home maybe, get ready for my journal club on Tuesday.

D2: Just about finished the 1000 Mephisto runs, but most of my Diablo time this weekend will go towards Bohica, my concentration barbarian.

OVG: Noes!

RL: start my on watch days so that's why days then 2 nights before 4 off. 12 hours each. Up two hours before alarm this morning as, according to dog, turning over in bed now means I'm up for her walk..........

D2: almost certainly none today as likely to be too tired at end of watch. Running LK on p7 is relatively safe with my 99er HC windy, but not falling asleep safe...

RL: My family is coming over in 3 weeks and we're still in full renovation mode for the inside of the house. Oh boy.... and I discovered we have termites :-(

D2: I haven't played since the start of 2019. I bought a new laptop and now I have to reinstall as well as set up the bliss version switcher which I was struggling with last time. I'm in a spot where I need to run 6000 more lk runs for my project, and I have the runes now for some good runewords, but I want to push my 1.00 characters forward to 1.07 to get some bases before I spend my precious runes. So TL:DR I'm too lazy to take the time to install D2 on my new laptop to play it.

OVG: with the new laptop I'm now able to play Ark: Survival Evolved, so that's what I've been doing. It's fun but a huuuuuge time sink if you play solo pvp. Basically you either build small or get raided daily.

RL: I'm. So. Tired. I'm getting data at least, but we always need more... I'm also going to be helping a colleague with a technique because seemingly I'm the only person in the lab to have used it, so I will get on another paper, which is nice. I'm also meeting my first PhD reviewer today and she seems really nice, so it should be good. Also, I got a new photograph for our lab website - don't I look like a semi-proper adult? :p

D2: I will hopefully finish my 1000 Meph runs today, and hopefully a shako will drop because otherwise I need to do more... Otherwise, not for a while I don't think.

OVG: Reading? I'm actually reading a few more of the D2 books just now in the form of the Diablo Archives.

I've been ridden with the dreaded man-flu for a few days. Haven't had much time to play, sadly. Just this past week i made the error of starting Morrowind again, which ate what little free time i had to begin with.

RL: Did my taxes and let's just say that extra $12 I got each paycheck ended up costing me $1100 with claiming zero. I don't know why I had any hope that the tax law that passed would do anything for me because it didn't. I'm worse off now than before.

D2: Still trying to farm that infinity. Been AFK for a few days. Getting back at it now.

Generally speaking, cancer immunology, but officially the course is 'MRC DTP Precision Medicine'. I study the prognostic role of gamma delta T cells in colorectal cancer. Gamma delta T cells are kinda my thing

Are you in research too?
Ah. That sounds super interesting. I have a master in biochemistry. Cell biology was one of my favourite courses.

I am working as a research engineer for a research institute, working mainly with circular bioecenomy (I.e. how can we make more from sustainable sources).
