OT: The Daily Thread

If you feel like starting already, just do so :). Fresh start is always exciting, and it's not like you will have forgotten everything by the time you come back from vacation.

Btw, you know what's coming next, no? If you are starting over anyway, why not join the untwinked 99er challenge. Too much fun not to.

RL: our three boys are on a camp with the boy scouts. Usually it's a nice time for my wife and me, getting to spend some more time with each other (next to working unfortunately). However this time the oldest of the three got kicked against his shin by the middle one very hard two days before the camp started, and after a while he got a lot of pain in the outside of his anckle, so severe he couldn't stand on it anymore. After seeing a doctor, who told us it wasn't too bad, and that our son should try to keep moving it, we decided to get some crutches and have him go on camp anyway. Also because he really wanted to go himself.

However now, after a whole week, things still aren't better, but we are starting to worry if the doctor's judgement was right. So I think we'll get our son from camp and go for a second opinion. In 8 days we are leaving on vacation to Austria. If his foot isn't better by then, I'm afraid he won't be able to do much hiking there, which would have a major negative influence on our holiday of course :(.

Kids ...

D2: due to the good weather, I haven't been playing much. Only 11 hours in in the RF/MF tournament. I won't make the full batch of 20 hours, but I did plan to go home early from work today and try and do some 4 - 5 hours of Nihl running. If I have to get our son back from camp, that won't happen though, and the tournament might be over for me. Already happy about my xp progress with the character, but more obviously wouldn't hurt.

OVG: no.

I'm no doctor (nor do I play one on television), but it sounds like your eldest might have a bone bruise? A couple of months ago, my father-in-law accidentally (?) dropped a patio stone on my finger....while it was resting on another patio stone. After about 2 minutes of mimicking the Flintstone Frantic, it started to slowly swell up and turn dark purple, leading me to believe it was broken. I saw a doctor a couple of days later, and he said it was a bone bruise - painful, but he said there was nothing he could do for it except allow time to heal it. He stressed not putting a splint on it, wanting it to get a free range of motion to help with the healing.

Depending on the severity of it, he may still have a varying level of discomfort which is too bad - as a Canadian, Austria has always been on my bucket list!

And go HC. SC ist fur sissies. :p

Hehe. I know how to do it in the manly way:

But I don't think I'll be playing HC again anytime soon with my daughter around.

RL: nope.

D2: a little bit lately. Have an sorc wandering towards end of act ii hell.

Pokemon Go: finally got an ex-raid pass! My first shot at mewtwo will be next Friday at 1pm. Also really want them to up storage as I'm getting very close to the limit.......

RL: Took a few days off of work after the death of a family member, we're holding up.

D2: Finished /p8 Normal with my HF Zealer as part of the Untwinked Level 99 challenge, and wondering how it took me this long to realize how awesome a "Steel" flail can be, and how that weapon basically carried me through the entire difficulty. Working on a new Meteorb Sorc right now, need one more level to use a Leaf Staff, but in the meantime, I've been using "Steel" in a broad axe, which, again, holy crap, is awesome, considering how weirdly-fast Sorcs seem to attack with hulking two-handed axes. These chicks are deceptively athletic.

RL: I feel like I'd have to do an RL for the last 18 months since I've not posted here, but let's just skip that and go straight to this week. Had the pleasure of contracting shingles this week, so it's been a week of pain, discomfort, working from home and thus...

D2: Untwinked 99er Paladin, Aura. Mostly CS runs at either /p7 all the way or /p1 until Vizier seal, where I switch to /p7 to finish of Viz and Diablo. Not the fastest XP/per hour I could get, Nihl is a bit more efficient, but it's really safe and I reckon gives me a bit better drops to try and narrow down my grail.

Mac users! Any of you experiencing unexpected errors when launching the game and intermittently while playing? I get an unexpected error every time I launch the game, but the second launch goes through and I can get in. Every now and again, I get an unexpected error/crash mid game, which is first a few second screen freeze and then followed by a crash within the next minute. I tried to do some googling of the issue but just found loads of Windows solutions and nothing for Mac, so I thought I'd shout out here in case anyone is silly enough like me to play on a Mac. Using a MBP2015 with High Sierra, D2 LoD 1.14d.

RL: Super busy at work now, couple of new business proposals flying around, so working on those for the next couple of weeks. Nearly all recovered from the shingles now too, so back in the office on Monday, which means...

D2: Less time for that. Working from home means that I can play through my whole lunch hour and eat while I "work". Also, no commute so that time can be spent playing. Aura is doing well, planning on giving an update this weekend.

I am now trying to figure out capturing my screen on Mac. Tried using QuickTime, but that only captures the video, no sound and quite awful lag when playing so no good. Tried OBS next. First go, worked fine, no lag, but again, no sound. Installed some sound capture driver on my Mac, but that caused a different issue. Diablo 2 won't launch if I have OBS open. So that's a no-go. I might just go with soundless video capture, but that's not fun. I still have plenty of time to figure things out and get it to work.

OVG: A bit of gaming with fiance, been bashing through Lego Jurassic World. Also played a bit of Crash Bandicoot, but I have a feeling that was mistake buy since it causes quite a bit of frustration and not happy times. Lego games are awesome for couch co-op. Which to our disappointment has nearly vanished from gaming altogether, unless you go with Indie games (nothing wrong with that), but still, couch co-op is the best kind of co-op. Hopes are very high for Borderlands 3, we've played through all the previous Borderlands (and their DLCs) through quite a few times, so fingers crossed!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

RL: Creeping ever so rapidly towards the busy season when hours go up quite a bit and time to advocate towards video games will vanish. New seasonal menu was launched a month or so ago. Here’s a Sautéed Calimari, Romesco Basil-Fettuccine, and pan-seared Lamb Loin (credit to Chef). Jude is also about to turn 1! We got him a custom toy box among other things. Parenting isn’t always the isn’t easiest thing in the world, especially at a relatively young age, but I really think he’s helped mold me into a better person just by existing, which is pretty damn awesome.

D2: Sophie continuing to spend all of her time at Nihlathak farming away experience as we’re getting closer to the end. I needed a change of pace from the same target 100s of times per session so I progressed a future pit zerker (named Serpent) through Normal Pindle to 39 and up to NM Pindle where I will stay until 69 and then do Ancients and farm Baal minions to ~79. This is my first twinked experience on SP and it’s been quite fun playing as Ribcracker WW (would’ve probably did Bonesnap but I seemingly never thought to save one as I didn’t have one in my grail stash) with Harmony on swap speeding through acts. He’ll transition to some variant of teleporting Grief WW for P8 Pit packs until 90 unless it’s for some reason slower than Pindle. That should give him a good starting point to run P1 Pit for MFO/self found grail progression. I still need 6 Ists (I’ve burned all of Sophie’s) and a crafted caster Amulet
for his base setup to be finished but that’ll have to wait as I really want to hit 99 on Sophie before 1 year from start date (October 7, 2017). I’ll probably get Serpent to 69 and hold off on going any further to focus on 99.

WW/Berserk
Guillaume’s
Angelic Amulet
Ribcracker (didn’t want to burn a socket quest as they’re limited for me, will up at 56)/Harmony (swap)/Life Tap Wand (cube)
Duriel’s Shell
Cleglaws (LoH at 63)
SoE
Gore Rider (Sander’s Boots for extended travel)
Angelic Ring/Manald (Dual Leech rare at 65)
A couple 17-18 Life SCs
Act 2 Might
Stealskull
Kelpie Snare
Shaftstop

OVG: none!

This thread on the third page? Blasphemy !!!

RL: first day at work after a 3 week vacation. Vacation was terrific, I already hated my job before it, so yeah, not hard to imagine how much fun I'm having today :(.

During our vacation, my wife, our 3 kids and I became fairly addicted to the Settlers of Catan board game. We played it every single day, so I decided that a perfect gift for her birthday would be one of the expansions. We have a specialized board game story in the city I live in, so yesterday I went there with our youngest son and after a short explanation from the guy at the store decided to take the Cities and Knights expansion. Can't wait until next week to try it out.

Lately I'm having problems with my hip when I'm doing runs longer than say 10K. I have a minor tear in the labrum of my hip, but the specialist said that it shouldn't be a problem to continue my running. I was just at the planning stage for my first ever mountain ultra next year, but for now that'll have to go to the background. I hope the hip problems are due to not doing core exercises enough coupled with having to sit at my job all the time. Otherwise I might have to give up on ultra running, which would be quite the disaster for me.

The strange thing is that i have been out for some good 3 hours in the mountains on holiday, hiking and running a distance of 21K. The problems only seem to occur when doing continued running, not when I switch it up with hiking.

D2: none during my vacation. After that my weekly AB group game on Monday. Also some rerolling maps and test runs with my PitBarb for the upcoming MFO. I settled for a map for a while, but now I'm thinking about rerolling it anyway. Which is a bit of a problem as the MFO starts tomorrow and I most likely won't have time to play today. As I also won't have much time to spend on the MFO, it might be better to just use this map anyway.

Next to that I have been leveling a Doom/Phoenix Furywolf. He's currently in Hell act 2 at lvl 79, and has been converted from a standard Furywolf to the Fire Enchanted variant ever since meeting the lvl req for Doom and Fury. He's tons of fun and the Fire portion of the damage is actually better than I expected, killing PIs on /p5 at a reasonable pace. If you have the wealth to make one, I can definitely recommend it.

O yes, last but not least, I've also slowly started on the title grail with Lady, the Bowazon who's planned to earn the title ... Lady. This grail is something I will only occasionally work on for now though. Main focus will still be on MFO first, then both my 99ers (especially my Sorc, who is closing in on 99).

OVG: no. The new Grim Dawn expansion is looking great, as usual, though. I might pick it up when it gets released later this year.

Lady Lady? Seriously? :-P

Settlers of Catan is lots of fun indeed. My only issue is I'm bad at losing and people know it so at some point when I'm getting in a good swing, they will refuse to trade with me which makes me angry. Not furiously angry, but enough to regret starting a game anyways :P

Yes, every character will just get the same name as the title they will earn. Keep things easy you know :).
