OT: Mafia game

Night descends on the sleepy little town of Bitterroot. Aman, the town's King walks casually about the streets when he spies something in the shadows. Something...or someone...plots dark and devious plans of town corruption. The mafia is back, Aman is certain of it. He lets a quiet prayer slip between his lips as he hopes the town can stand up to the sheer might of the mafiosos...
Enter Night

Night will last for 24 hours
 
Rules:

1) You do not talk about your role outside this thread.

2) You do not talk about your role outside this thread.

3) If you post at night i will kill you

4) If you edit your post i will kill you (This includes editing for spelling mistakes)

5) If your role allows you to communicate with others during the night, feel free to do so via pm, instant messaging or any other form you choose. Only those roles expressly allowed to communicate privately with each other at night are allowed to. If you have any questions, contact me privately.

6) Once you're dead, stay that way. Dead people tell no tales, or in this case, dead people make no posts.Suck up your death and keep watching and rooting for your team. There's always next round.

7) Votes and unvotes need to be bolded . If your unvote isn't bold or highlighted, it doesn't count.

8) The required number of votes to seal a lynch for the day is equal to one half the remaining number of people alive (rounded up) plus 1. Once someone reaches this number of votes, they will be lynched no matter what; however, the day will still continue to it's scheduled conclusion.

9) Never post anything in the thread that shouldn't be known to the town. Don't flame in the thread. If you have a problem with anything in the thread, please PM me and I'll do my best to handle it.

10) Any player may claim any role.

11) Do not post any information sent to you in a pm. If you're a townsfolk, the only person you should be pm'ing (no private aim or msn conversations between each other) is me. Mafia can pm between themselves (or talk on msn or aim) only during the night.

13) I won't be telling you the starting roles, upon lynch that persons role will be revealed, people that get nk'd their roles will only be known to the mafia

Gorny is found in a pool of blood, a broken vodka bottle seems to have been the weapon of choice. Written in blood was the following message "Zhao watch out lest you be next...was as quite a lot of blood to spill...here in the home of my favorite mod.
--Murder, Inc."

It also seems a bomb has gone off killing Serdash and Spigot, it's unclear exactly what happened.

It's now day, Will last for 48 hours

With 17 alive it takes 10 to lynch

Interesting 1st night. Here's some thoughts to get things going. Everything is a little cryptic with hidden roles, bloody notes, and multiple deaths. However, I think it's pretty clear that there are multiple mafia groups (or third party killers) and I'd be hard-pressed to be believe different at this point.

At the Gorny death, I'm curious as to why Zhao was mentioned as being next in the bloody note. Aman, can you confirm that the note was written by someone other than yourself? I can't tell if that's more "aman > zhao" rivalry stuff you typed to be funny or someone else actually making Zhao out as a target.

That said, the double bomb is almost just as interesting. It's possible this game is stocked with rarely scene roles to help with the mystery angle. I've never seen it used, but there's a role actually called, "The Bomb" that kills whoever targets him for death. So, potentially Dash or Spigot could have been a mafioso that had the unfortunate luck to target a role like that their first night out.

Just a quick change to the lynching numbers

10 = Lynch locked
7 = Person getting lynched at the end of the day as long as that person is 2 votes ahead of the next person
 
I think the bomb that killed Serdash and Spigot was likely the "Bomb" role that Liq mentioned, and one tried to kill the other. Either that, or there is some "Mad Bomber" role in this game, where that person can select targets and blow them to smithereens. If the "Bomber" is a role, lets just hope its a one-time thing, and we won't be losing two or three people every night.
 
Other than rooting out the organised crime gang(s?) in this town? :tongue:

If they targetted someone at night they are mafia and there should be 3 of them correct?
Is it not true that there should be 3 mafioso and they vote together so if Dash and Spigot were mafia who targetted the 'bomb' by mistake there should be 3 dead mafia members? Unless the bomb is incapable of killing more than 2.

I thought of the serial killer role as well, but I thought that would only leave two dead (whoever the Mafia killed plus the serial killer).
 
I thought the SK wasn't going to act on night 1? Or did that change when rule 13 above was implemented?

There was nothing ever said about the SK not acting on the first night...because nothing was ever said about the SK.


It would make sense that either Serdash or Spigot was the serial killer, considering the mafia offed Gorny. We might've dodged a bullet, literally and figuratively, if the SK ended up killing himself on the first night.

Those were just general rules so people could know what to expect, i probably should have just changed them there.

The model for the "bomb" role that Liq mentioned normally has the mafia member who sent the moderator the killing PM blown up, rather than the entire gang.
Think about it. If the entire mafia team was blown up due to one unlucky choice of target, then it's game over, town wins. Similarly if the town lynched them. This is still based on quite a bit of luck, but at least it's not reduced to flipping a coin as to which side gets to kill the bomb and lose.

Riddle me this, but cut the filler: How do you know there's a serial killer?

The thread's changed for the start of the game. But be careful: the rules aren't the same.
