OT: Draughts / Checkers

Some people dont like it compared to chess, but i've convinced many people this is much more fun to play - I think its equaly strategic in different ways, even if the rules are much more simple

Basicly no one plays this damn game anymore that i know, apart from me and some members of my family. It was popular for hundreds of years and then died in the 1950's way before I was around

I'm not that good, but I've been playing quite a while. So any of you want a thrashing, post here and we'll have a game...

If you have a yahoo account, heres a link to log in:

If you dont, make one - you'll never be bored at work again.

Depends on the rules. May the "Master" piece move only 1 move backwards, or whole board to everywhere?

They're called King's in draughts and checkers, they can move 1 square in any direction..

I think what your talking about is this rule called "Flying king's" in this random version of checkers ive heard about, where a king can move as far as it wants in any direction or something...

I'm really interested in hearing about different checker rules if you play a different game to me. If theres website's to play them on, that would be cool too.

Don't really know a website. But yeah, if it so, then I am used to be playing by the "Flying King's" rules. If someone could point out a website, where that is used, I would be surely in for a duel.

Well, i've an arbiter in checkers tournaments quite a few times and indeed, "kings" could move as far in any direction as they wanted.

Chess ftw!

Edit: Added on MSN.

I can't quite play chess when im into draughts and vice versa, i like both but i tend to go through phases of each... playing on the same board and moving differently really affects my playing for some reason :badteeth:

come and join me in the Pelican Palace checkers room lol, on yahoo

What's ftw stand for?
