OT: Days of our Lives aka the Beacon's Billboard

Pwned by Simeon! That would be a nice story if Piscene has been with his girl since his teenage years. I don't know anyone that is still with their adolesent love.... Our generation seem to move on after a while..... I wonder if Ronin has been with his wife since they were kids?

Actually, I've been with my wife since I was 19, and we got married when I was 21, just after graduating from college. Not sure if that qualifies for adolescent love, but its not too far off. In any case, I've been with her for over 1/3 of my life, which is pretty amazing. And I still love her after all this time. Pretty cool.

did you know the only reported human death by killer whales was in one of those stunt aquariums and only because the whales were playing too roughly with the handler and she drowned.
they've been known to pull up from beaching themselves when they realize its a human rather than a seal pup and there have been close calls with surfboarders and the like where they are nearly attacked and the whales realise their mistake. the funniest one i heard about was a surfboarder wound up half inside the killers mouth\,then it let him go and swam away....insane

I've seen the videos of the orcas hunting seals by surfing in on the waves behind them...awesome...those are the coolest animals. And I always wondered when watching the shows at Sea World if the whales ever accidentaly killed a trainer. I mean, when you weigh that much, a small mistake can be fatal for a little 150 pound human.

The really cool thing about the orcas is that they can kill pretty much anything they want, but they don't want to. They're smart, and kill on purpose, when necessary.

Killer whales also use a really interesting technique for feeding on herring. they circle the herring and force them into a really tight bunch and herd them up near the surface and then the whales swim at the herring and twist so they slap into them with their flanks and tails, killing lots of herring and then they can just pick them off at their leisure. wow!

That is very cool  , congrats and I hope you can be happy for the rest of your lives. I've heard of people getting married to their high school Gf's, but I guess that's a bit of a stretch?

Just to clarify that wasn't my car, nor was I driving or a passenger.

What would you say would be the average age of marriage in the States? I only ask because RoninDog was married young, not that a sample of 2 would be anything to go by. Judging by my friends, I'd have to say that late 20's early 30's is the norm (Australia)..... Just curious :xgrin:

my parents married umm......i dont know. before my brother was born and dad was 24 and mum was 22 when that happened. so 20-22 was mum.

Id prefer to marry and have kids younger as id hate to be an old coot(40+) with a 10 yr old child. just not on. like our neighbours. hes almost 60 and they have a 4 yr old girl and the other 2 kids arent 10 yet.
anyway i digress,
ill probably end up marrying late 20's as after i finish uni, hopefully ill be 20-21 at the time i want to travel for a few years. but meh. future.

also due to FB's ignorance of the awesomeness of my tar and simeons i have become teh grinch and removed my xmas tar.

Lock your doors. It's Him

My mum was 19 and dad 22, It seems that the baby boomers were married young, I would say that things have changed now though? Sex isn't taboo before marriage now as it was at least frowned upon then.......

@Rizzo - I had a look at LotR as a chrismas pressie for Bec's younger brother, maybe I should have got it. What's the general gist of it?

It's a strategy game. It's called the Battle for Middleearth (iirc). I've only played skirmish but I love it. It's very cool. I'm thinking of buying a new pc just because of it... !

Corax: Why you!! You've replaced my tar with something else? Grrrrrr!!!

@missmollygrue - Is that you in your avatar?

*chuckles* Yes, that's me in my avatar. I got bored with the stock one provided by the site. This is my headshot. (The 8x10 I hand to directors when I go to theater auditions.)

I know that I was kind of young compared to the norm for getting married. Most of the other parents we meet at our kids functions are about 10 years older than us. So it looks like they're getting married in their late 20s/early 30s. We have a few friends our age whose kids are the same age as ours, but most seem to be older.

Have you done any acting professionally (as is, got paid) or do you do college theater or community stuff? I come from a huge theater family. My grandfather directed and taught musical theater for almost 30 years, and he and his brother both teach summers at Interlochen Arts Academy. I think 3 or 4 of my aunts and uncles have music or musical theater degrees. I was active in the theater through high school but that was about it.

Will you be heading to one of the coasts for a shot at professional acting? Or maybe you're already there?

@Piscene - As Corax said, at least you'll be able to enjoy your kids when they become teenagers, you won't be out of the loop so to speak..... Did you find it financially tough having kids so young? I only ask because that's the main reason I refuse to have kids. Though my Gf (soon to be wife next year) would disagree and say that we are more than financially capable now ~ maybe I'm just making excuses :uhhuh:

@missmollygrue: What type of productions do you act in? I'd imagine that the theatre would be a rather cut-throat industry? Is acting your chosen profession or just a hobby of sorts? Sorry about the 20 questions.....

@Rizzo - I'll have to check out LotR, it sounds interesting.......

@all - Merry Christmas, I'll be AFK for 4 days, as Monday and Tuesday are public holiday's here in OZ.... Going to spend X-mas and boxing day at Bec's parents, (my family live in another country so it's a bit hard to see them), then it's all D2 baby........

excuses are good. remember sabotage it as much as possible, you have to try more that way :xeek:

PM j00 n00b.

@Corax - Yes Bec and I have decided to make the move into marriagehood... More Bec less I me thinks... No date in mind yet we are still deciding on the ring. It's funny how Bec doesn't want to be there when I get the ring, (that wouldn't be romantic apparently), yet she is very happy to go into every jewelers we pass and point out the one she wants - go figure.....

Did I just PM you????

The forum was playing up - I'll post it here:

I know, I know - it would have been alot cheaper too!

Max Hammer and Synergies (Blessed Aim and Vigor, concentration though not really a synergy), 1 point in prerequesites, make sure you have 1 point in redemption, I sort of stuffed up and put a point in sacrifice and 1 in zeal (failed experiment to see if zeal and CB would be better than Smite - don't do it!) For Baal killing a point in Fanat and smite away. I've also added a couple of points in lightning and fire resist (to get the additional resistance points) and the rest go in Holy shield. My resists are 91/90/92/90 in Hell, block with holy shield and Guardian Angel is at 75% (I could have gotten away with less dex points truth be told...Meh) strength is at 140, dex the same, energy at base, rest in life, I've got 1617 hp (>2000 with oak sage - but I've given up on using that, you don't need it and repair costs are too high) and a very high level HF merc with reapers kicks butt.........

First of all, congrats on your future marriedness. I don't think it matters financially when you have kids. It's one of those things that you're never really ready for, you just do it. If you actually don't want to have kids, you better face the facts now and get it out in the open before you get married. Better to not wait to face that one.

On the other hand, if you're just hesitant because its scary to have a little human being who is totally and completely dependant on you for their very survival, not to mention that you are responsible for ensuring that this person grows up to be a positively contributing member of society and a happy, well balanced person...well, you should be a little freaked out by that, it's a lot of responsibility.

Personally, I love having kids more than I ever thought that I would. And I love the fact that I can help make the world a better place by raising kids who will be good people, and be good to other people. It has given a meaning to my life that I can't even explain.
