OT: Days of our Lives aka the Beacon's Billboard

i need seriously urgent help guys. my gf is really depressed because he UAI( uni admission score or whatever) will most likely be under 60(we find out tomoro morning at 9am). we used a calc of the last 3 yrs to figure approx figures and she wants to get into bach of art teaching and it requires a low 80 score. so she isnt going to be able to get in that way, she can however use alternative entry but thats not the point atm.
she is really upset and nothing i can think of will cheer her up. help!

Corax: she needs time to think, and there's not much you can do to help, besides to be there when she needs you. You can buy her flowers, but the fact is that whatever you do, will not force her mind off the main subject. She has to figure it out, and you can help her by just being there. That's my opinion. It sucks tho... I hate it when something happens and I'm unable to help.

Still baffles by recent events (the fact that Nacaa has never played D1) I greet everyone this joyful morning. I'm just in at work, 8 hours looming in the dark horizon. Thankfully there's no rush at work atm, so I can relax and take a breather. I finally figured out what to buy additionally for my girlfriend, now it's just a matter of time. I have no idea when I'm able to buy this piece of clothes. I'm working every day until wednesday when I'm going to see her (actually I'll travel to her tuesday evening) so I'm in a bit of a tight spot.
But anyhoo the day is fine and it's.... CHRISTMAS!! Wohoo! One week to christmas eve! Can't wait! Feel like an 8 y.o. again hehe :D

Have a great day everyone, and don't go hang yourself or anything Corax. Things will work out... this just takes time. Be there for her, don't try to take her mind off of what she wants to think of. Buy her flowers and take her for a long walk. There you can talk about something else...

Best of wishes

Corax: What Rizzo said. It's hard to cheer someone up when they are in a position like that. Just be there for her and show her your support.

Rizzo: I guess I have to buy it then :)

Oooh, a day off. And it's friday. This feels so odd. I am used to go up at 6 in the morning

I wish you a happy and relaxing day Nacaa. What are your plans for the day?

D1 differs greatly from D2. You ought to try it. It's VERY good!

well cindys finally settled down and gone to bed.
im not in much of a mood for d2 OR foruming so im going to go read a book or somehting, might go for a late night run aswell.
ill catch you all around. last karate lesson tomorow

Good morning everyone, and I've really got to stop staying up this late getting nothing accomplished.

I'm heading camping this weekend, doing training for the winter camp I'll work every weekend at in January/Feb. No D2 for me, but I've played enough lately, especially PvMing (5 acts, 30 lvls) with a super twinked Hammerdin.

@Corax: I'll get back to you on that one.

Catch you all on monday!

No idea. Have already been at the bank so I guess I will watch a movie or something and then see what happens :)

Whatcha gonna do after work today?

I'll prolly go down to town try to purchase some of the missing gifts. I still need to buy at least 5 presents, and really don't have the time. Then later I'll have to try and find my Diablo game. I have borrowed a Hellfire cd but NEED the diablo I have somewhere.. but where? Argh!
Started a dr00die yesterday but really didn't feel like it... want too much to start D1 again. It's just so dark and cool with great atmosphere... You should try it Nacaa. Then later I'll go to bed, because I'm going working tomorrow again :(

Rizzo: Sensation, no that is an understatement. I really can't describe the feeling, or feelings I am feeling at present. Sorry for the confusement all. You will have to read the TGIF thread (very sorry I don't know how to link) but to fill you in quickly. My name is Jasmin and I'm a Paramedic and today I had the opportunity of delivering my first baby. A 3.2 kg healthy baby girl.

We were called out for a maternity assist. Generally straight forward, no complications etc etc etc and as it was this one was no exception. We arrived and spoke with the expectant mother. Before we had the chance to assist and transport her to hospital she went into labour. Within 15 minutes she had her baby. As I have already mentioned a healthy baby girl 3.2 kg with the lungs that would make an adult envy  My ears still ring.

I hate her so much: I was in labour with my daughter Tamasin for almost 23 hours and she had her's in 15 minutes

My BF just rang and I've just told him, he's tickled pink, whatever his chrissy present is for me now couldn't match the one I've just had.

Sorry for the way that this is posted and sounds. I'm celebrating with a few Baileys. Who could blame me. :xrollseye

I know I will deliver many more babies throught my career, but as my work collegues said, "your first will always be remembered more than your 100th.

Take care all, please be careful on the roads and have a safe and very merry Christmas.

 I could use a few too. One of my fav drinks. But wouldn't look good if I drank Baileys at work I guess... hehe!

Have a nice day Jas, and remember to celebrate this awesome experience. This is what makes it all worth. And if you ever have any downperiods on the job, remember this day and that you helped bringing a child to the world.

there are different styles within the grouping of karate j00 n00b*uppercuts rizzo out a window* for example i do Koryu Uchinadi which originated in Okinawa. probably doing ninjutsu after i move next yr.

Ok, in my town there are the following karate versions:

Ashihara
Ten Chi Jin
Shotokan
Shuri-ryo

I'm planning on starting on Shotokan. Do any of you know anything about that?

Hoping that Mordalles will join us, I took the liberty to post his thread (problem) in here:

i just finished brek at university. i got my degree. now i dont know what to do.

the problem is that i dont really like what i studied! trust me, the accounting world was not meant for me. so now i dont know what to do. i just cant seem to decide what to do. i need advice. where better than to ask people i dont know, but who might have some good wisdom to share.

im thinking of studying math and programming at varsity, since math was always my best subject, and im really good at it, and computer science was my favourite subject in school. looking back, i should have started this 3 years back, but listened to the wrong people. however, this will mean ill have to study 3-4 more years. (ive just done 3!!)

my other option is to actually start working in what i studied. even though i didnt like the past 3 years, starting to make money would probably help with the depression? also, i dont have any connections, so finding a job could prove difficult, especially with the whole "previously disadvantaged" thing going on in our country.

im really looking for a third option, but what i dont know?
please help the internal debating deep within mine lonely mind.

if only there was something like pro diablo! haha!

does anybody have any thoughts?

What's your opinion guys?

Some key issues:

The problem is that i dont really like what i studied!

There are several options. There are always options...
About the two listed, it's really hard to try to advice you. I've learnt through harsh experience that you don't need others advice. Sometimes it's best to figure things out for yourself and ultimately you have to make your own decision. That does not mean I can't say what I think though, so here goes..:

Don't worry about time. If it takes 3 or 4 or even 5 more years to be able to do what your heart truly wants, then go for it. Don't waste your life on boredom. I do believe however, that you should first give it a shot. Try it out. Usually the practice is very different from the study, and thus you could find it to your liking. If not, then you have at least earnt some money to start anew.
In my opinion the time you take to educate yourself is never wasted, even if it means you don't want to work with it. You've still learnt valuable lessons that will give you an edge in many situations. Time spent on something productive, is never wasted. But you should follow your innermost desires.

A romantic perspective perhaps, but this is what I believe, and what I try to do in my own life.
Hope it helps...

afternoon guys. just got home from karate and i ****ed my back. luckily i like to hunch as its one of the few positions that doesnt hurt. anyone want to trade spines with me????

my uai is....*drum roll* 83.55 and im on the state honour roll. pitiful really. that not enough people could beat me in maths that i made the honour, considering i never did a scrap of work

cindy got 60.9 which is better then predicted but she is still really upset. specially since she asked all her friends and they've been gloating with 80 and 90 scores. yes, shes friends with nerds.

@ Corax: Congrats mate - getting on an honour roll sounds like an amazing achievement! :xgift: When at school I found that some people could do really advanced maths with the effort that most of us used to add up the shopping. No work required but big scores achieved and none the less noteworthy for that... I'll agree with the others who have given you advice on your gf. You just need to be there for her. Don't worry, she'll soon realise that there are more important things in life than school scores (not that I'm knocking yours) and that her friends aren't really friends if all they can do is gloat that they beat her.

@ Siege: Wow!!! :xsmile3: That will really be something to remember during any bad times at work. And a few Baileys sounds good to me too. Must remember to get some in for Christmas.

@ Rizzo: No idea about karate at all. And I've never played D1 either, though Anne has and keeps going on at me to MP with her. I guess I should get a copy of the game and do that.

@ Mordalles: Listen to your head, but follow your heart. Maybe get a part time job using your degree and study what you really want to do part time as well - the best of both worlds... I studied History (REALLY useful!!) and my first job was market research interviewing - absolutely no link at all. But I then went on to an auction house where it did come in a bit handy, and now - alongside my "proper" job at a call centre - I sell old postcards on a well-known internet auction site. I could have planned none of that when I left uni; life has a way of throwing unusual things your way and you move along a new path.

@ Nacaa: Hope you had a good day off!

@ all: Keep smiling, and remember to tell those you love that you love them.

I'm happy!

My girl is coming this evening, and I thought I wouldn't see her before tuesday... I'm happy!!
I've come up with an excellent plan for a little Christmas gift for her. On tuesday I'll drive down to see her, and pick her up at work (which she doesn't expect). I'll stand outside her work when she comes out and have homemade chocolates for her, which I will make tomorrow or on monday. I've bought marcipan and nougat, still need some nuts and some chocolate
I *know* she will love that! Wednesday we're just gonna relax and perhaps bake cakes and cookies, have fun with each other and (;)) and just generally have a great time. I love her. And I do tell her every chance I have... :xsmile4:

Have a great day everybody, and remember the wise words of Simoenb
