Im guessing you had a destructive streak in your youth as well but you managed to make it through it all and come out a better man?

Well, destructive is a kind term.
what follows is a brief life history........
Left home at 17, after leaving school and moved country (from NZ to OZ), spent 2 year working on fishing boats in Tasmania, then a year roaming the East Coast picking fruit..... Have some memories of 94~97, most of them not good. I didn't speak to my parents for 4 years (not once that is)... basically went off the rails.
Things got better in 98 when I woke up and realised that I was too smart to waste my life like that. So I went to Uni and studied commerce.
It's really only very, very recently that I've really mellowed. Even at 23 and 24 when I lived in Korea and Japan, I was still doing some pretty silly things (very easy to do in Asia). In 2002, after Simone's accident, I got really bad again for a time (though at least I had my career), working 14hrs a day and drinking the other 10. It's only since early this year (the arthritis) that has made me give up my sinful ways and go on the straight and narrow. I can now say that I'm a productive member of society!
I think that some people need to go through that stage to come out a well rounded person ~ sure I regret some of my actions, I hurt (read: emotionally) some people (my parents mostly). But I've apologised to them and we have a great relationship now.
As for tattoos, I got my first at 17, an arm band (wire). Liked it at the time but as soon as Pammy Anderson got one I wished for something else!!!! Also got a celtic design across my lower back, and the most recent was one for Simone ~ A heart with a banner, that runs from my left armpit to my elbow (really hurt to get). I've been toying with getting another, but need to find one I like.
