OT: Days of our Lives aka the Beacon's Billboard

Ronin: Hehehe :)
I know about the cant cook/no money feature, but as I stated some time ago, everyone can cook. It's all about finding a recipe for something easy and cheap. If he has like 10 dollars he can get all he'll ever need including the candles and the meal. And I mean 10 dollars.. that's nothing. You can do that, can't you method?

Well method there it is:

If you can scrounge up 10 bucks, get to the market, buy some kind of food/candles/2 dollar bottle of wine, pick some flowers from a flat down the street and viola! Have a romantic candle lit dinner ... perhaps followed by a comedy/scary movie if you would like...or if the conversation is there then just go with that. What you think about the SPF's solution?

hehehe I wouldn't recommend a 2 dollar bottle of wine tho :D She might think you actually like it  Seriously, ice cold water is better (she'll think you care about low fat or something haha) or perhaps just some juice...

I always like cod florentine as a cheap meal. It sound posh but is really cheap -

Buttery Cod Florentine

1 pound Cod fillets
10 ounces Spinach
4 ounces Mushrooms, fresh, chopped
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, mild, shredded
1/3 cup Butter, unsalted
1 teaspoon Dill weed
1 teaspoon Nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon Hot sauce
Place cod in ungreased baking dish.

Layer with spinach, mushrooms and cheese.

Melt butter and add seasonings. Pour this on top of cheese.

Bake at 350º for around 30 minutes.

Dont worry too much about the seasonings, but putting a bit of bacon in with the cheese makes it taste fantastic.

Heheheh the two dollar bottle of wine was a joke, I was just throwing it in for some fun because $2 wine suXzor and since he only has $10 bucks then but has to be romantic thats all he can afford. Yes...dont get $2 wine....apple juice is better...or better yet mix a smoothie...ice/strawberries/vanilla ice cream will make an awesome blended drink.

Ronin: yea I know hehe! Smoothies are great btw

Oi Method...if your game for cooking I have a few simple less than 30 min recipies and drinks you can make M8. Let us know how the $$$ situation is going.

@Rizzo - Thanks for making this place fun.

@corax - How old are you?

16. im a wee little lad :surprise:

i can just see method trundling off to the $2 shop to by
1 balaclava
2 knapsacks
1 $2 wine bottle for smashing in guards faces
1 wire cutters
= $10 so he can break into places and steal things instead of buying stuff

Where is method when we need him? He hasn't said anything... I hope he could use the advices we gave.
I need an advice but perhaps I should just follow my own romantic impulses instead of listening to you movielovers :p Tomorrow my gf is coming  and I'm cooking. I'm da chef master, but I need some advice... gimme an example of a nice romantic dinner. I've been thinking lotsa things. Wok for instance, but perhaps something more exotic..? Any ideas?

That depends Rizzo, give me some factors here to work with so I dont give bad advice! How much time/budget do you have? How exotic do you want it? Let me know and I will let you know. ;)

Budget? What the...

Hehe, I can spend around 300 danish crowns max, which is around 50 dollars. But I need some other stuff, so don't expect it all on one dinner. I have a plethora of wines provided by my dad (he has alot and everytime I visit he gives me something because he has no room for it haha!). I have enough time to make something nice, and I'm planning a warm romantic scenery too (yea Im getting hooked on that decorative stuff hehe). I'd just like some ideas for the main meal. Not dessert or anything, just the main thing...

Do you want the main dish to match the type of decor, that might be a neat twist...depending on decor that could influence your choices of main dish. Decor ideas or you have one picked out yet?

-roninDOG

hmm, if you just have some ideas for a main dish and perhaps some deco that matches, it would be great. I can cook good, I just sometimes lack original ideas :)

I'm off to bed now folks. Have a nice evening/day/night everyone! See you tomorrow

@grogs - 2 weeks pindle running and you pull out those items? Thats awesome! Again grats on the amazing finds....looks like I got your griz corona the other day albeit a lower end one. Do you do trades? :)
-roninDOG

No, I don't trade, self found only, kind of spoils the fun if someone else gets it for you. Re: Pindle, I've spent about 4 hours a day at work running him, then that again at home + most of the weekend (at least til my girlfriend starts packing her things. )

I've just deleted my copy of D2 on the work computer as I was getting nothing done, and falling far to far behind.

@Rizzo and Ronin: I had this argument with my girlfriend last week, she said that I have lost all the romance that I showed when we first started going out (8 months ago).

Basically I'm not the most romantic of guys, I've been engaged before, that however is another long story. I tend to think that as long as your comfortable with the other person then thats great, just be yourself. If you happen to think romance is a night out, or sitting at home watching TV, you'll eventually find someone who appreciates that and you'll get along fine.

Maybe I'm just being optomistic

I agree with you grogs, its all about the person liking you for you. Romance is great, but it only goes so far because....well to be honest you cannot be romantic 99% of the time when you have wife/work/kids/etc. If a girl thinks your not romantic enough it could quite possibly be that your with the wrong girl. Although this shouldnt be confused with being a selfish unattentive jack *** who never pays his girl any attention. Fine line here.

grogs has the right idea. gg grogs.
if your not a romantic person (ronin, grogs n me) as opposed to a romantic fanatic( rizzo :cheesy: ) then never ever be super-romantic at the start of a relationship , otherwise it'll become the expected norm and when you settle back to your normal 'rut' (movie night and what not) she/he will probably dissapointed, and we dont want to disspaoint them now do we. or they will come after us :grrr:

I think that might be an exaggeration :D
I'm not some romantic poet walking around all day writing pink stories for my girlfriend. But I like to do something special for her once in a while, and I like when she does something special for me. Like the other day when she bought me a gift. Just a small thing, but I was really happy. It's nice to know that someone's thinking of you all the time. I like that. Of course it's necessary to be able to be yourself in each others company. That is obligatory for a relationship to last. And we can. I'm just saying that it doesn't hurt to spend some time and money to prepare something out of the ordinary for that very special person who lives in your heart. I hope that made it more clear.... :fish:

I hope y'all are having a nice day btw? It's still dark outside here in Denmark at 9 am grrrr... hehe. Today Im at work from 8:30 to 16:30, then off planning something for my girl when she comes at around 1900 hours...

oh and rizzo. if your going to pick your gf up ring her before and confirm the time and dont damnwell drive like a nub. you will get pwnt.

Heya guys, sorry I aint replied til now, aint had chance really..

As for yesterday, turns out I had no money, so I was a little stuck as far as food went, but I managed to put together some pasta in sauce and a few sausage rolls for the food side, by candlelight of course, and I found out I had two Jaffa Cakes left, which were the *perfect* dessert (if you know what they are, you'll know how corny it got last night).

It might not have been much, but the lady in question loved it, however corny it must have appeared, and we just sat and chatted about random stuff for a while.. before sorting the meal out, we'd taken a walk up along the cliffs from town where we met up to my house (living 5 minutes from the beach pwns), and that was about that for the evening, walked her home, said goodnight, then got a good nights sleep.

All in all, not a bad evening, total cost - nothing, romance - corny but plentiful.

Works for me ;)

Ronin: Nah, I dont play anymore. The little free time I get I wanna spend with my friends :)

grogs: Yea I am a fireman-to-be ;) It's pretty damn fun. If you think about joining the army... do it!

MethodOne: That sounds great. I hope everything will work out great between you two. So... do you have that special feeling in your stomach? ;)

Rizzo: Zup mate? Hope everything is good with you and your girl.
