Glad to hear your gf is doing better. I'm not a world expert, but I've learned after 10 years of marriage its usually best to not try and fix their problems, just listen, tell them you understand how they feel, and be generally sympathetic...even if you have no idea how they feel and you're not at all sympathetic and you see a perfectly simple solution that she fails to recognize.
As for the job, these things always have a way of working themselves out. Just keep your eyes open and you'll end up in the right place at the right time.
