I've never tried the Fallout series though. Don't care much for futuristic games I suppose. I like warriors and swords better :p

Rizzo, I do agree with you about BG1 making you feel more powerful with the odd easy fight.

I'm normally a fantasy geek too and not SF but Fallout has such a good story and the 50's camp makes it all feel so real - you actually care for people in the game - can't say that about many I've played. Seriously, for the price you could get it now grab 1&2 and have a look at it - you won't regret it!

Hey guys! I'm back home now, I had forgot how boring this place is :p. I went to my old high school, visited a few of my teachers. Other then that... that's about all I've done. Less then 24 hrs before I see my girl. I'm pretty sure that my posting will all but disappear, once my lady comes home :uhhuh:

My favorite class in BG2 was the Monk. I just liked all the nice bonuses that they got for melee combat. I've been thinking about reinstalling the game, and I like the Kensai/Thief combo that Ronin mentioned. I also really liked the city feel, because you get much more of the feel that your character is actually in a city rather then in D2, where a bustling city has all of six NPCs. :teeth:

I think that I might uninstall D2 to make more space for BG2. I know! Blashphemy! I'm willing to take that risk. :teeth:

Hey all,

It's been a busy week at work, am looking forward to easing up over the X-mas period as most of my clients will shut up shop and it'll be operations only for 2 weeks (far less work than everything else I have to do).

Interestingly enough I've never played BG, in fact, I haven't played any other game apart from D2 for 2 or 3 years!

@Kaysaar - I'm happy for you that you're home and will see your girl. You must be excited

@Ronin - enjoy your time off, I've got around 8 weeks of annual leave saved up and may take some time off in Feb depending on the work situation - *must finish the lvl 99 quest*

@everyone - salutations and have a good weekend.

I have a RL dilema that I'm hoping you could shed some light on.

Bec and I are flying to Brisbane this weekend. A friend of mine is leaving the company to travel around the world and is having a going away bash.

During the trip I'm going to catch up with friends that I haven't seen since I moved up here, and herein lies the problem(s).

Situation #1: I used to be romantically involved with my friends flatmate. It was a stormy relationship and ended after a few months. she's a flight hostess (Virgin Blue - for those that care) and I was hoping that she wouldn't be there. Well she will be, to make matters worse Rebecca knows that I have had some sort of relationship with this woman and isn't too wrapped that she'll be there - the girl and I still talk but that is another contentious point.

Situation #2: Now to make matters worse I'll be catching up with another friend and his wife as I lived with them in Brissy before they were married. The problem is that my friend's wife is from France, she had a friend come over to be her matron of honour........ One thing led to another and I found myself involved with her, she ended up staying in Oz for 3 months and then left because of visa regulations. I've since moved on (obviously), unfortunately for me, this French girl has come back to Oz and is staying with my mate again. Rebecca has no idea that we were romantically linked and I'd like to keep it that way!

Now, Rebecca, being somewhat young (24) and therefore not as self-confident as someone with a little more life experience, has a hard time with the fact she's got to meet someone that I've been involved with. I can understand this as I could get jealous in my younger days, though now I see no point in it what-so-ever.

I've talked to her about situation #1 and told her that there is nothing to worry about and yada, yada, yada, with varying degrees of success. situation #2 I'm hoping just will not come up at all  !

Any thoughts, comments, I told you so's, you've made your bed now sleep in it's, and Oh what a tangled web we weave's would be much appreciated.

You're in an interesting position Grogs, and I don't envy you.

Based on how Bec took the situation with the first girl, I'd tell her. It may be rough, but I as I see it, there are three possible outcomes:

1) You get lucky, nothing happens with the French girl. I think that this is probably a little sketchy. The more you don't want it to happen, it probably will.

2) You tell Bec nothing, and she gets surprised, and everything goes to hell.

3) You tell Bec everything, she may be a little jealous, but you assure her that what's done is done. and you're commited to her. She has an idea of what coulde happen, but anything that does won't be a huge surprise. She meets the French girl, nothing bad happens, everyone is happy.

I see not telling her anything as the worst possible situation because then you run the heavy risk of have her find out, and having to explain everything on the spot. This can make Bec angry that you didn't tell her, and jealous of her. If you tell her ahead then you have a certain degree of control over the situation. You can explain everything with a cool head, and without having to worry about damage control. But then again, I don't know Bec, and that counts for a lot. But from my perspective, I'd hate to have to try and control an awkward situation that could be easily avoidable.

Good luck!

Kaysaar, your advice is sound. The only problem is that I don't want to set a precident here, or I'd have some fairly rigerous explaining to do!

As far as I'm concerned the past is in the past. I don't quizz Bec (or any girl I've seen) as to her (their) romantic history as I see it as none of my business. I'm yet to find a girl that totally agrees with me on this though. Apparently it's not possible for a woman and a man to have a platonic relationship after once being involved?!?

Anyway, for better or worse I'm going to go down the line of not telling her. If it blows up in my face it's not the end of the world (I hope). If I can go into a meeting to pitch proposal, or to front a board to answer to a breech of contract, I hoping I can get through this :uhhuh:

EDIT: sp and not happy with how a sentence read

I respect your decision, I just think that you'll have a lot more explaining to do if things go poorly. Bec seems like a rational girl, I wouldn't worry too much.

Have a good trip! Hope things go smoothly!

I'll let you know Monday!

Good luck grogs!

I would agree with Kaysaar that it's better to have cleared the air beforehand, but as you're the one that knows Bec you're in the best position to decide. I can certainly understand that if she hasn't much experience of life she could get irrationally jealous and that then it might be wise to cross fingers and hope for the best.

As you know though, it is of course possible to have a platonic relationship after a romantic one. Indeed, I have just such a relationship with my ex-wife... :xeek:

Kaysaar's advice is a good one imo. From my experiences telling the truth is always the best option. Jealousy and anger might arise but not nearly as much or longlived as if she has to find out herself. Keeping a secret will make her think something might still be going on, and make her even more jealous. And keeping the secret might be quite difficult too... imagine the setting and try to decide wether or not you're able to keep the secret. If you feel that is for the best go for it. I don't know Bec but if it was my girl, I'd tell her.
Hope that helped, but I imagine you already knew my viewpoint of the situation :xsmile4:

Btw folks, I've decided to start at Karate.

what style j00 n00b?

hey guys :xman:
had to go shopping today with my gf, for shoes. then she didnt buy shoes. but her sister who accompanied us bought a stack of books and apparently my gf got me an xmas present but i didnt see ot :xquiet: damn.

@grogs: hope the trip goes well. you could always just avoid the frenchie? pack a bottle of wine in your inside jacket pocket and when she approaches smash and stab  or you could use this

alright time to tell the tale of the hippies and me. gather round children of the stars for the cosmic cosmicness of hippies.
well when i was in shopping with gf n sis they were inside some shop and some hippy lady wandered up to me trying to get me to sign some crap bout ending the war in iraq. so i had a go at her bout how if we all drew out now we would be totally consummated(hehehe) and what not and then she was telling bout the horrible suffering occuring over there, but my dad went over for awhile and i can tell you that where he was centred in the conflict as it happens wasn't anything like this lady described, so i had a go at her to actualyl head over there and find things out before spouting all this bullplop(hehe).

the 2nd lot were anti-meat activists and had something special against koreans eating cats and dogs, so at first i went over and asked them how koreans eating a dog was different to aussies eating a cow( up to this stage i was unaware of their total meat bannage) and so they corrected me on their stance against all meat, then from where i was i could see over there bench and one of the ladies had leather shoes and a leather belt. pwnt her too

then i saw the friendly neighbourhood bum who was busking so he could buy toys for a childrens xmas appeal. good bum

:xgrin: Yeah Grogs, follow Corax's advice and go crazy

Corax: style? Karate... :p hehe!
Nice job in telling of those anti-meat people. I haver never actually understood them. It's human nature to eat meat. We're designed by nature to do that. I can understand that some people think it's sad the way that some animals are treated, but the mere fact that we eat them? No way. Not in my mind...

I know j00 noobl4r it4m *circlekicks Corax out a plane* but have no idea what I'm able to train in the city I live in. I'll find out tho, and start first thing in teh new year.

Koyuraui Uchinandei, eh? Is it fun? How does it differ from "standard" karate (if there is such a thing? ) ??

its better than other styles because im in it:lol: i r teh hilarious
its different because it focus's on movement and using the whole body to deliver power to strikes, rather than just arms or legs, so when you kick your whole body gets behind it and even little nerds can get quite a bit of power behind them.
GG MINSC!!!

I've taken two different forms of martial arts over the years. The first I took was Shaolin Kempo, then I later moved on to American Kenpo when the first studio closed. I was quite oung at the time, but I was pretty good at it.

I've since moved on to more aggresive styles. I've been doing a bunch of reading on the fundamentals of German sword/buckler, and hand and a half sword fighting techniques. I just wish there was a place where I could take lessens. :p It's interesting because the sword fighting you see in movies many times isn't anything like the actual sword fighting. Real swordsmen were very creative. It's really fascinating.

And Corax, based on the whole body behind the punches, I assume you've seen Bruce Lee's two inch punch?

wasn't it one inch??? or am i mistaken. anyways yes ive seen it and it is truly awesome. very similar principal although the only person ive actually KNOWN personally who could manage anything close to that is gone now, well besides kyoshi, who is the founder of the current style as he took several old okinawan styles and made them into koryu. hes a big man but you should see the way he moves, ive seen him brake good solid broom handles just by swinging them. hang on and ill find a picture of him.
sword fighting would be interesting IMO but im a long way from even learning tonfa, atm im working mostly on bojutsu with a small bit of sai work that i do myself. although i bent one of my sai's on my head . sai's

why what did you post cormallon?

well seeing as the forums currently wont let me edit my last post. they force me to do something i do not wish *kicks butt for goodness*
here
you can find kyoshi up the very top. there he doesnt look that large. but he is. hes a massive man. not very tall but big and solid. and he can catch flies with chopsticks...total pwnage.
also id like to point out my sensei. 3rd row down 2nd from the left sensei bob king. who has recently had his sternum removed due to heart problems then subsequent infections. but he is back with is now and is very flexible because his sternum was replaced with muscle. also the 4th fellow in from NZ is tiny but a brick. he fell on me once and i couldnt breath properly for bout 10 mins. we were grappling and i could no move him. :xmad: hes insanely heavy for barely reaching 5 foot
