OT: Days of our Lives aka the Beacon's Billboard

Hi Ronin! I understand your situation and you are right in your actions. Your family comes first above everything else, and taking care of your child is essential. I know we can still chat in here and that's great. Wouldn't want to miss our discussions abour RL. I wish you luck on the homefront. To quit training entirely must be hard, but you know, you can always run a bit in the woods or something
I have some items i could add to the giveaway, around 200 items if you'd like. Tho I can't send them before thursday. Don't know if that's too late.

-riz

Edit: remember dog, that D2 never changes and is always there. Taking a break just makes it more interesting later on. What really matters is the real world and the actions you make there. Be there for your family, they need you (more than we do :D )

Yup, I know D2 is definately low priority. Ill probably be back to it a decent amount in 6 months - 1 year or so (:innocent: hopefully...), it all depends on what I need to get done on the house to make things easier for my wife. Ill get the odd ball MP or run in though hehe. As for the give away though...yeah its not too late to add your itamz in as well. Email them to [email protected]. Ill probably host the giveaway and then add your items in after the start but I will mention your name for sure. Also if you would like a few items lemme know and Ill peruse the stashes for you. So far the contributors get first dibs on items if they need any. Only seems fair :)

-roninDOG

Ronin: you have PM. I don't have FARA so I can't make a list (or yes I could but I don't bother writing them all down :p) so I'll just send the stash to you on thursday.

Only 3 hours left of work

@silo - mule received

@rizzo -thanks will check for it on thursday

thanks for your contributions! much appreciated! i will add the items to the giveaway and ill see what a javazon/meteorb could use. so far we have got roughly 2000 items that are gonna go into this giveaway. thanks again guys. your names will be mentioned in the starter thread which ill probably repost each week.

Sup all,

I've been very busy lately at work, I usually check the SPF everyday though.
I usually just don't like to post unless I have given some forethought into what I'm writing. (And for me that takes time.)

@roninD Man it's good to see your voice. Thought you were a goner. Dude, I understand completely about the wife and family. I'm 29 and I've been married now for almost 7 years....the first few years are the toughest. Glad to know you're still gonna be around...My internet is now on...when you get a spare day to mp just email or PM me...looks like it's going to be a pretty nice giveaway...as far as my assassin is concerned, I'm fairly loaded in gear, I would like to get: arachnid mesh, shadow dancers, soj, and any type of armor that is better than naj's with +skill....also need any MAsin skillers.
Currently using duel Bartuc's, shako, +3 MA skills gloves-all for the skills.
Thanks.

hey ronin, sorry to hear your having to give up martial arts and d2. but atleast you've got your priorities straight
thats a pretty big puppy? what breed is he/she?

oh and i think i might have a few items i can send for the giveaway. they won't be top notch or anything but i can still send em. i can organise and run it for you too if you want. i have nothing to do now as i still dont have a job. so i'd be more than happy to do it.

Agreed, but I think as a male it would fit best if I were to be around 30-33 years of age to have my first child. This way I should also make enough money to safely raise the child and take good care of it, no matter what happens in my life. The child comes first always. My beloved girl, who's name is Anne Kathrine would then be around 24-27 and would've finished her education. This way we can both have an education without the trouble of raising a kid in the meantime. I think it's best for a child to be raised in safe enviroments, and a 20 year old dad just don't have the responsability to raise a kid.. imo.

I totally agree on the age thing Rizzo... I've many friends that have families now. I'm the Godfather of 2 very cute little boys (aged 3 and 5). Their Parents are in their early 30's and even though Dan has a great job and earns good money they have still struggled in the past.

I've decided that I just don't want to bring kids into the world until I can financially support them (and my partner). I'm 28 in Jan, and my Gf (Rebecca) is only 24, we are definately financially stable at the moment but that would change dramatically with kids (back to 1 income). A few more years of paying off the house and then we'll relook at the situation.

@Ronin: There comes a time in your life where you have to look at your priorities. I agree with you that your partner's wellbeing is the most important thing, though I will say that no matter what else is going on you do need to take time out for yourself and do something that you enjoy. It's a great idea that you'll keep up the martial arts, even if you have to train alone. It'll help keep the balance in your life. Hope to see you back playing D2 once it starts to settle.

Good luck on the exams and good luck with the job. Are you in year 12? If so uni down there wouldn't be too bad an option.

Though JCU has some good courses (depending on what you want to do). Lots of attractive women too...... tanned, and wearing hardly anything (tis the only good thing about the weather).

Not that I look at that sort of thing anymore..

nonesense. youve just got to look more subtley.
yea yr 12. too exams to go. tomoro and friday. then im free. as for the job. i dont really want it. its more of a bridger till i find something worth my while and if i do get into uni it would be pretty good too i think. cos its flexible and so forth

funny story: yesterday during the storm. i was cleaning out the desks on the pc table and i pulled out one of the instruction books and $200 fell out. i was like....wow. so i went out to mum and said look what i found. and we decided it was the money we paid the guy who built our computer. normally we would of given the money back to him, but he did a VERY shoddy job on the computer, so we decided it was a cashback deal. if he was dumb enough to rip us on the pc then forget to take his money, hes only ripping himself.

Hey guys, nice to hear from you all. I appreciate the support with whats going on. Things are looking on the up and up. Its only been a few days and I am already getting home earlier everyday, I am less stressed and more rested, and spending time fixing up the home/landscaping the yard. I went out and bought some gear to set up in my home and hopefully will train alone for the first time today. Me and my wife had a lengthly talk about things as well and shes pushing for me to try and go 1 time a week. I still havent decided as to whether I will or not.

@oapwm - Im here to stay at the SPF! No getting rid of me that easily. As for your assasins gear, I dont think that there is much that I can improve on. No arach's mesh / shadow dancers / MA skillers in the stash thus far. If we get some you got first dibs though. You sure you dont want melee gear if your an MA sin? Shaft/Vamp or rockstopper/etc? I might be available to play sometime this weekend for a few hours. Saturday/Sunday any time Ill try to set aside some time. We might have to meet on open bnet if there are firewall issues. If I work all day on the house I should be able to get a bit of play time! Whats your schedule like?

@corax - thanks for contributing as well! you can email the items to [email protected] and i will add them to the stash. Right now its a lil over 2000 items. This is gonna be one hellova giveaway. Oh and my puppy is an 8 month old Doberman named....Ronin. Hence my name. Hes ridiculously large and energetic and can be a real handful esp for my 80 lb wife.

@grogs - Yes, its important to have priorities straight. And I do recognize that you need time for yourself. Tis wisdom in your words. Yesterday I picked up a punching bag to hang in the garage...all I need for a good Thai work out. That should keep me in shape and in high hopes for the time being. A lil D2 once in a blue moon shouldnt hurt either....I hope!

For the giveaway:

current contributors: roninDOG*, oblivious*, oapwm*, silospen*, corax, rizzo
*refers to items being sent and collected

I will generate the fara reports after I get corax/rizzo's items and post them in this thread. Each of the contributors can ask me for a mule of items they might want after looking from the fara report and I will send those out before I even post the giveaway start thread, consider this a thank you. :)

My current rules for giveaway are:

1. No trading items or using them for grail (per oblivious request that he would like them to be used).
2. First 5 people to PM me requests after start thread is posted can ask for up to a full mule of items. I wont fill any more requests because I dont really have the time each week. This will also make the giveaway a routine weekly thing which I think is good.
3. I will use discretion when giving out items and will try to make sure that they are fairly distributed, i.e. no one is gonna get more than one TC > 80 item in a stash.

Please give me any other comments/suggestions.

Take care all.

hey ronin. glad things are looking up for you  i'd still try to get to martial arts at least once a fortnight.

i'll send the stash this afternoon when i get back from exams. so in 8 or so hours  crazy. just crazy. stash currently stands at about 320 but i found some old characters on a disk so i'll see what they've got any maybe do some more MF'ing, and like i said before if you want me to handle the giveaway i'd be more than happy too. so youve got more time for your RL  lol

@Ronin: If I could, I'd like to danate a few items to the giveaway..... Not quantity but someone could find a good home for them.

Cheers,

Grogs

Your name goes on the list of contributors as well. Ur gearz gotta be 1337 mang. Fara reports coming out as soon as I get stash from corax and Rizzo.

Oblivious, 1st contributor has got his mule.

Yeah! Glad i've taken part in this giveaway :) Feel special now ;)

Life is going steadily downhill...Need to do work more often methinks. And stop posting in this damn forum. Just starting a > 5 hr assignment for tommorow, i have rowing training at 7 (its now 5). I also have 13 blisters from rowing training and i can't feel my calves. We train 6 out of 7 days a week. I have a rowing outing on the canal at 8am tommorow and again at 1400hrs. Then free weights training at 1600 hrs. Feel muscley :)

Edit: Seriously guys, if you want to stay in shape, take up rowing. It also works on your mind. I seem unable to fail at the moment...

Hi all!

Just home from a days vacation with my girl. It was great as always, tho we didn't get as much out of the day as I would've liked. Can't get it your way all the time eh? Hehe. The best part was our walk. We took a good walk on the streets of her village, a very quiet town on the outskirts of main city. We talked alot about us, the future, our past and other things. I like to talk to her. I like to be reminded of things we've done together but which I can't remember. I like to have a past.
I can't remember much anymore. For some reason I can't remember alot of things in my life. And I'm not just talking about the small things. I'm talking about major events, travels and stuff. Many things which my brother and sister can recall I can't. I don't know why but I think I kinda closed up after the divorce. And that has hurt me more than anything. I've felt so alone at times... but it's hard to communicate with other people when you feel disliked. When you feel that the person you talk to don't really want to talk to you, you feel laughed at, ugly and stupid. I've felt like this a long period of my life, and it's only now that I've started to realise these things. Now that I've changed my exterior in order to tell myself that I'm not ugly, it's easier to get related. Just talking to your colleagues at work gets easier. It's amazing how the human mind works. How you're able to completely shut off... you can imagine that involving in a deep relationship with a girl can be a pretty tough job for me at times because of this :)

I just felt like rambling a bit. Now y'all now me better
Have a nice day all!

Edit: Silos - yeah rowing is great. It's one of the toughest forms og training out there as it works your entire body. For some reason tho, I just don't like doing it

The blisters hurt like hell. Thats one good reason. Also people shout at you a lot. Apparently you have to be "very strong or very stupid". And as i can only do 15 press ups without resting...im assuming the latter.

Rizzo, the remembering things in your life thing could be related to the divorce, but to be honest, i think it just happens to everyone. I'm only 18 years old and i can't remember places ive been. Every year of my life ive sailed to places with beautiful coastlines, watched amazing moon rises, watched incredible sunsets. Yet if you asked me to describe somewhere i have no idea.

Never create a future at the risk of losing your past, is a lesson to learn here, i think. Or if not, it sort of sounds good
