optimal merc setup question

alright, ive got my merc set up with an eth shaftstop upped, an eth gaze upped, and an eth reapers toll, my question is what should i put in sockets that i put in his items.

im thinking a mal in the reapers as when he is fighting sometimes before he can kill a monster it regens a lot of it's health, plus it would be very beneficial for boss killing i think. i was thinking of ed/ias jewels in helm and armor

what do you guys think? oh yeah its a holy freeze merc

If I'm not wrong, the PMH mod on a merc does not work on monsters. Your char must use a PMH item and hit the boss/monster to activate the PMH.

Can't confirm it, but I'd like to see a bad facet with a 100% chance of a L50 nova stuk in a helmet, for doing cowruns.

I would stick a Cham in the shaftstop, a 40/15 in the gaze and either an amn or another 40/15 in the reaper's.

Yes. I've got a LFzon without a merc, like to do cowruns. I wonder whether I could collect a 100 P8 cows and then get my merc to die in the middle of them wearing a helmet with- ow my, my facet casts a lightning bolt:

100% Chance to cast Level 47 Chain Lightning When You Die
+5% to Lightning Skill Damage
-3% to Enemy Lightning Resistance

That would be useless, lets see if I can trade it for one with a nova- But you get the point I guess. L47 nova == lots of dead cows == lots of stuff- (cheap-*** merc ressurection fee) == me happy (I think).

The whole point of using ethereal items on your merc, is that they don't use up durability.... So ethereal items are used because you gain an extra +50% enhanced defense. But, There is currently a bug with upping ethereal armor and when you up it, you lose the +50% ethereal bonus. just thought you'd like to know, that you'd be better off with non-eth up'd items, although, if you're only using the items because you got them cheap and have nothing else to use then carry on...

If you actually upgraded the items yourself, then sorry to be the one to give you the bad news that you wasted the upgrade runes.
