One Ring To Rule Them All

Just need some numbers. Sorry if this is the wrong forum. :(

I read somewhere a long time ago that it is somewhat easier to gamble SoJ's than to find them.

With that in mind, is this still true?

If so:

a) What character level optimizes SoJ chances?
b) Does MF help?
c) What are the chances of gambling a SoJ at that level and that MF?
d) Are there any other factors to consider (difficulty, etc.)?
e) Has anyone actually gambled SoJ from vendors?

Thanks. :)

Also, I just bought the Special Edition of the LoTR trilogy on DVD. The cashier was a dumbarse and for some reason I got it for $15 cheaper. :teeth:

Before the expansion it was easy to gamble SoJs. Uniques were gambled much more easily in classic D2, and unique rings spawned in order. If a unique ring was rolled and none were in the game, it was a naglering. If there was a nagelring in the game, it was manald heal, and if both of those were in the game, it was a SoJ. If all three were in the game it was a rare instead.

a) Something like 44 or 45, I think.
b) No. MF does not help.
c) I think it's some absurd number like 1/32,000. Maybe less.
d) No. Gambling is just chance.
e) In 1.10? I doubt it.

Oh, and congrats on ripping off the video store. :p

Thanks. Sorta disappointed.

BTW, just one more unrelated question - when you up a unique shield, does the Chance to Block % go up as well?

Also, according to the ATMA Drop Calc, Uber D has 1:1337 chance of dropping SoJ.

The chance to block only goes up, if the chance to block changes between the normal/exceptional/unique versions, and some may change I am unsure(i don't think so though), what type of shield are you going to upgrade?
Also NM andy doesn't have that much higher chance than hell mephisto(about twice as much is all), and hell mephisto is just a better place to run in general.

In classic D2 gambling uniques was really easy and all you had to do was make sure to carry a Nagel and Manald in your inventory and every unique ring you gambled would be SoJ (Hence the SoJ economy of old). Nowadays you are much better off running NM Andy as already mentioned above.

So I could have 2 sojs or one... Hmmm lets think about that one ;)

Also the reason NM andy is prefered it can only be one of 3 rings... Nagel, Manald, or SoJ

When Hell Mephy drops you a ring you can also get RF, Dwarf star etc... Reducing your odds of one actually being a soj

Simmilarly this is why hell Andy is your best bet for BKWBs

Speaking of Ravenfrosts, can anyone tell me why I have less Nagelrings and Manalds (combined) than Ravenfrosts? I'm sure that's theoretically wrong on so many levels. ;)

By the time you actually gambled an SoJ you would have probably found 2-3 SoJ's from Hell Meph (or Andy if you want) plus! a ton of Grailies and useful uniques and such. Not to mention a ton of XP.

I am planning to upgrade Moser's Blessed Circle... so would the Chance to Block % increase by 15%?
