One handed charger

My current paladin is holding a eBoTd War pike. He is a dual hammer/charger and lacks good resists when he's holding his big stick of doom. I've already made a Phoenix shield with some good resists but can't decide on what to equip for his one hander.

What would you get? I'm thinking either Rune Master or Death Cleaver would be satisfactory. I'll have to test them out first.

Grief. 78910 Edit: oh wait, does it work with Charge? If not, then I guess Death is one option. DS does work with Charge, doesn't it? And it's ias-independent, so it doesn't matter if the weapon is slow.

but Death has a nasty glacial spike CtC, which I don't want. I'll probably just get a eBoTd Zerker

If you lack res, there's eth Tomby to consider, although it may be out of your price range. I still don't remember if Charge works with Grief's +dmg; if it does then there's no point choosing anything else - the dmg will be obscenely godly.

I don't think the +400ish damage from grief transfers to charge. I may be wrong here.

anyway, I just xfered a ebotdz on my hybrid and he's pretty kickass. I went into a dueling game and pummeled some pubs, except for the annoying NKs and such:

I still managed to get my body back (charge + vigor ftw!!) and destroyed him a couple of times. After awhile, had to resort back to using my big stick of doom. I just couldn't resist that big damage. 1-shotted him a couple of times. The first time was right after he said "weak."

I have finally decided to switch to a Grief zerker and HoZ for shield. I liked the Phoenix + EBotDz combo, but the firestorms with phoenix were getting annoying. What other combos can I try?

I have a SP hammerdin with 8 or 9 skill points saved. I thought about spending them to boost charge and putting something heavy on his switch. I have Oath in a cryptic sword and a balrog blade and Death in a colossus blade (all eth 1.07 weapons; 1.07 has higher damage).

My question for you is what level of charge are you using? Have you tried with only 1 point and also with 10+?

Try: Grief pb / zerk or EbotdZ or DoomZ or Death or Death Cleaver + HOZ or Exile.
The +damage of Grief transfers to charge. Also your Attack Rating matters for a hit or miss when charging.

I am using maxed charge with my charger. My smiter has 1 pt charge and he seems to get the job done as well, with his grief pb. Just comparing, it takes quite a few charges to kill an urder while with my charger, it took about 3-4, using a grief zerker.

Yeah, I thought it didn't but after some testing, the Grief seemed to be doing more damage than my ebotdz. I usually wear angelics for good AR. Some of the gear you mentioned causes monsters to freeze in place though, which will stop a charge chain.

I think I'm going to stick with my Grief zerker + hoz, since they seem to get the job done...although I do miss the Redemption aura from Phoenix.

I know the damage may not be as high, but have you considered Obedience? 20-30 all res (runes are cheap so you can reroll), CB, big ed%.

I actually had Obedience and tried it out, but CB requires hitting a lot to work. I rely on hitting hard, regrouping, and then doing it again. I also tried an upgraded Spire of Honor, which was fun for awhile. I've been pretty much upgrading weapons for awhile and the zerker + hoz seems to work well as end game gear.

Okay, just an idea.

My 2-hand zealer used a Spire of Honor while leveling, and it was quite good.
