ok guys besides countess who has bonus for dropping runes

ive been re introduced to d2 lod and ive noticed that runes are now the new preverbial "soj" i was wondering if besides the countess who also drops the good runes besides the forge i no that but is there any other boss in the game who always drops a rune like her?

nope!
plain and simple ur only guarenteed to get a rune when u kill count or do forge. :grrr:
 
So far as I know the countess and the forge are the only spots "guaranteed" to drop runes. One alternative to these two spots is chest hopping; just go to an area with lost of chests or stashes and tele and pop them all; chests in hell can drop decent runes, and if you are fast at it the rune find rate over time can be as good, or better, than killing monsters. In fact if you can find a full game, like a baal run, you will benefit from larger chest drops without the bother of the slower kill rate for the monsters. The catacombs and the docks are especially good places for this, and the ES sorc is particularly well suited to this task.

In case you didn't know: you will get better rune drops from the countess in solo games. This is due to the coding on the drop, and I am not up to the task of explaining it; just take my word for it. Countess is also a pretty predictable place for pkers to find you; so you will be safer in a solo game anyway.
 
Good place for decent charms and runes is to pop all chests in Lower Kurast

Just run around popping them, dont worry too much about killing monsters.

Hell Council, and NM council are woth a mention, Hell Council seem to drop a rune every 3-6 runs. (all luck naturally u could do 1000 runs and not get one LOL)

The Summoner also has a decent chance of dropping runes.
 
Well, no other monster has guaranteed drops, but ghosts and Hephesto (Near Hellforge) have better chances of dropping runes. Not much better, to be sure, but better.
 
i dont belive the countress is "guaranteed" to drop runes every time, only forge will always drop one. she has a chance to drop non at all but most of the time she drops few and thay seem to always be el and eth

ghost type monsters have a better chance to drop runes, as someone already said, council, chest. witch ever you do you well still need to do many runs to get anything good like pul up. i would find a good place like jungle or cow lvl somewhere with lot to kill find and trade for runes. opening chest dose work i do it when i go to meph, dl2 seem to have a lot of locked chest and i take few sets of keys with me and as i am going through i pop what i see, best i have found doing this was an um though

Runes 8,9 are my fave low level runes!!

excellent for upgrading low level uniques, and for some cubework ;)

The countess and the hellforge quest are the only ones to give runes. I have been doing the level 85 areas to find other runes. Ancient Tunnels, I found a Vex rune after only 3 runs, Black Souls in Baal runes are good got a Pul from one, Best I have gotten from countess in one drop is Mal and Pul.
Found Ist in Tal Rashas Tomb. But still Countess is the only guarantee in the game. Every run 1 to 3 runes all ranges.
