Obedience Advice

So I wanna make one of them bad boys but here is the question.
If I were to use it as a merc only, it would be eth obviously. However, is that advisable? It looks like it can be a sweet weapon for a polearm barb or a charger maybe.

Opinions?

Re: Obedience Advice

I think Obedience is cheap enough so you could make 2 with no problems. Make on in an Eth Thresher for the merc, and one in a regular thresher for the characters. Highest rune is easily had from NM HF or Hell countess. Fals certainly aren't rare runes, so I'd say make two. Or if your a HF rusher, you might even be able to keep up with Eth Obediences for the barb/druid/pally to use.

Re: Obedience Advice

I agree - the highest rune is fairly attainable with a little patience with Hell Countess. Unless of course you are thinking of making the polebarb soon, I wouldn't worry too much - if it's the case where you are more likely to find another Fal before you start your next character then the decision is easy!

Re: Obedience Advice

Depending on your prioritisation of the two char builds you suggested, you may wish to make a non-eth one first and mule it between the merc/barb/pally. Now if you wanted it for the merc *of* a polearm barb or charger pally then ignore me lots. Or make two.

Re: Obedience Advice

I pretty much agre with Fast Eddie. It all depends on who you're building right now. If you want to make a charger or a barb right now, then non-eth it is. You're going to find all the runes fairly quickly, whether through forges, countess, or just questing, so making two is probably going to be your end-goal anyway.

So: Make the non-eth if you wanna try the barb/pally right now, or make the eth for a merc and wait for the runes to drop again.

Re: Obedience Advice

My favourite Obedience is made in a Giant Thresher. I used it on my fire/forst zealot, and it was very much awesome. It has decent minimum damage, range 5, and good looks.

Re: Obedience Advice

I'd make it in a non-eth weapon. That way you can use it on your barb and it's still a very high damage weapon in a non-eth weapon. Besides, the best thing, for me, about Obedience is the CB. It'll help take down bosses* just as fast when not ethereal.

Determine which type of base weapon by looking at your available gear for the barb.

*that's pretty much the only thing I count on my mercs to do any damage - CB on bosses, that is.

Re: Obedience Advice

If you're thinking of using it on a WW Barb, one thing to consider is that Obedience lacks IAS. The fastest you could whirl is 8fpa (with thresher/giant thresher).
