No cash, no friends, no time, no problems
So you don't have an uberrushing superbot and ten accounts. You don't think everything thats not a high runes is worthless and has no value. Congratulations you may just enjoy diablo 2 yet! You also might get good at the game. What follows are some simple rules for starting from scratch without scratch.
1) PGEMS, PGEMS, PGEMS
Cube those gems. The odds of you finding good items are slim. Because, cookie cutters are usually sucky at playing diablo and poser characters that are good at one only thing, you can get the goods cheap. Case in point, Skin of the Vipermage (non upped because defense really doesn't matter, but stat point do. Or how about instead of fretting over 4os monarch shields and hoto's you can't afford, you just go get a chromatic ire for a pgem and wreck hell.
2) Do level clears and not just boss runs.
Kill a boss and you get one good drop. Kill three maps full of monsters in teh same time and you get allot more drops. Charms! Runes! Gems! You even find the same crappy items the boss would have dropped! By all means kill andariel (insert other boss of your liking) over and over, but make sure to click a few times on your way down.
3) Never cube flawless Amystyst.
Always keep a couple flawless Amystyst in your inventory. Upgrade these with the shrines you find. Trust me you'll appreciate it later.
4) Don't use a pile of gold where a penny will do. Trust me Chromatic Ire is sufficent for a LONG time. For real? You finally managed to accumulate some real wealth and your going to get a HOTO over an Infinity? For real you finally managed to accumulate a little wealth and you going to get an Occy over a Shako?
5) Use you're wealth for items that are long lasting. Tal's Ammy and Shako, are good up until you craft Godly Rares. They are worth their weight in gold.
6) Runes, Runes, Runes
Know when to cube and not to cube. cube often.
7) CUBE!
3 magic rings=> 1ammy
3 ammy=> 1 ring
These are like free drops and we like free drops. Just make sure you get them from the same place, so they are about the same level. Really! Crappy amulets do turn into expensive rings!
8) Gamble rings. Craft Amulets.
9) Cheap runewords are the bomb.
10) GLOAM
Killing bosses gets you junk. Killing monsters gets you charms, runes, rings, amulets, pgems, and jewels. You know the finer stuff in life.
HM) You can tell a good diablo player from a bad one by whether he has keys in his inventory and i'm not talking Dkeys. Open chests when it's convenient to do so. You might be suprised what you find. Get as many free drops as fast as you can. Kill monsters, open chests, gamble, and cube! Oh, and by the way, you should play a sorceress.
