Nezeramontias?

I actually playerd the nezeramontias 1.07 mod. I took it off after a week. I realized the game was meant to be played "vanilla" and i prefer it that way. Almost three years ago- i "uberred myself" I quickly cut it- came to the forum- kinda like a Cheaters anonymous for me. I have been completely legit for nearly three years, and probably will not do any "game alterations" again. Sorry if this got a little off topic.

ive made a necromancer named "necromancer" (ooh aah) and hes damn near lvl 20 and just did countess o_O found gull dagger which has led to finding lots of shatty arse uniques and sets (none new :() btw, dont go in the karego dungeon or whatever its called, you WILL get PWNED like you're a stupid little newb :p they ripped through my 5 skeles, golem and merc in like 5 seconds >.> at lvl 18, so... yah... heh

contrary to what hendrix says i think that this mod far surpasses "vanilla" (reg un modded D2) as far as fun factor goes, but that might just be because ive done almost everything possible on reg diablo, so its a nice change

Well, I put it in and gave it a try and the conclusion is....... its fun! Different, but fun nonetheless.

I made an amazon and she's up to lvl 15. Its pretty challenging and like bradley_turner mentioned, stay away from the Kerego Dungeon (sp?). I didn't even make it pass 5 seconds.

Some changes are subtle, some are not. I especially like the new graveyard layout. I also ran out of money more times then I could count, so you can't really splurge and stuff.

If you've done everything there is to do in D2, go ahead and give it a try, you MAY like it.

Then i must be too principled in the game to see that. oh well.

I don't think it's a matter of principle where this type of mod is concerned. If we were discussing a drop mod, or maphack, principles might come into the picture. This is just a different way of playing the game, although it doesn't appear to have changes as extensive as some of the total conversion mods.

I did try this mod some weeks ago, but wanted to try with a paladin. The use of an aura drained his mana, so the paladin is all but unplayable. I should try it again though. The weird thing was, around the same time I tried another mod (Eastern Sun), and there the same thing happened with the paladin. I did actually try all character classes in both mods, and did not run in such big issues any further.

the graveyard in this mod kicks ***! :) pardon my french, but it just does. a kinda cheesy way to get gold easy is to go into cow lvl and kick the bodies down there and pick up gold and stuff to sell, but its dangerous too, youll prolly die a few times, just make sure to stash your gold every time

I've tried this mod too and I find it rather interesting. Right now I have a level 14 paladin and I'm having a blast with those "monster gate" type items  And the soul collecting thing looks promising. As for the difficulty, it is pretty high but I still managed to get by at /players 8 so far so its not as hard as some of the other mods I've tried (I remember one where the blood moor at /p1 was hard as hell) . Seems like the kind of mod I'll be playing from time to time rather than just something I try once and never touch again.

Thanks to the version switcher, going from vanilla to a mod is as easy as clicking the right shortcut

I just tried this mod out and it looks good, but it just died when I tried loading up a character (created in the mod, not 1.10)

Level 5 Druid... and something causes it to have Unhandled Exception Errors :grrr:

Back to 1.10 I guess

I found Eastern Sun extremely difficult, killing things at /p 1 in the blood moor took sooooooooo long. What is that version switcher you spoke of LordDamien?

I'm surprised that some people are looking down on using this mod in particular. Anything, imho, that extends the life of a game we all enjoy is a good thing, and one must really appreciate the time, effort, and imagination that went it creating something this detailed and feature-rich.
While they improved rune drops, they also made areas that are 10 times as difficult as any in vanilla, lowered immunities in hell to -250, added a whole slew of new spells, monsters, and items. Perhaps letting people enjoy it without questioning their legitimacy would be in order? If I show up in the trade forum offering a gatling gun or baal's soul, then, by all means, complain. If I'm doing nothing more than discussing a new way of playing diablo that follows forum rules with other like minded forum members, I think a little restraint and understanding would be most welcome. :)

I actually had more fun playing diablo than I can remember yesterday MPing using this mod, finding brand new items and areas I didn't know existed, and enjoying a heck of a challenge while doing so. It was like playing Diablo 2.5, only it wasn't made by blizzard, just one talented, creative person.

Just my two cents.:)

atompilz, i found a super uber set of crossbow bolts while... erm... "running" in the cow lvl. and by running in the cow lvl i mean fleeing my friggin' arse off hitting chests and grabbing itamzzz :) aso, if you havent done andy yet... dont forget to lower players setting to 1, or you're dead, no ifs ands or buts about it. surprisingly i have yet to die, im pjlaying softcore anyways for a change, but its a noteworthy accomplishment in this mod. and i agree with everything you said in your last post, everything, and mil, you cant play with non mod people anyways... so....... what the hell does it matter if we find more runes so we can try out new recipes? not that finding runes really matters, at high lvls you can just use your tons of gold to buy mystery chests and buy the runes you need from the vendors

I tried your method of popping into the cows for gold, apparently I'm not quite as fleet-footed as yourself. ;) I'm level 23 or so, and barely managed to kill andariel, but was able to gamble a handgun in act 2 that really helped kill radament and clear out the maggot lair. I look forward to playing some MP with whenever we can get it together. :surprise:

Sounds really cool, but I can't quite get it to work. I've unzipped everything, and clicked the "install" file thingy, and a DOS-like screen pops up and tells me to press any key. When I do so the screen dissapears, and the game is the same. What's goin on?

@prophet you should anyways, but i had the same problem, just fiddle with it for awhile if it doesnt work, took me like 30 mins in a sleep deprived flu like state, so shouldnt take more that 5 or 10 mins, heh

atom, ill play almost any time, i suppose i could try hosting too :p i myself am at the viper temple, just got there, the golem bottles are uber if you dont need a shield, lvl 20 clay golem >.>

*note: bolded areas were my edits

Ok, now you have my full attention. :)

I will restate two things.
1) Playing mods is perfectly fine according to site and forum rules.
2) If you want to use the SPF to trade ANY items found while using a mod you are required to clearly state that the items were found in this manner, in your TRADE POST.

Because this mod seems to be a rune drop mod:

If you are known to use the Nezeramontias mod, you cannot trade runes or runewords in the SPF.

The reasoning for this declaration should be obvious. One of my jobs here is to keep the trade pool as legit as possible. Any mod that alters rune drops severely threatens the integrity of the pool. I cannot allow this to happen. I am not calling any mod user illegit! I am saying that your runes are now suspect. If this seems harsh, I'm sorry. I don't see any viable options.
