My highs and lows this weekend
I thought i would share my recent experiences this weekend.
With the impending reset,I had not been playing much but Fri. night I decided to work on leveling my 94 h-din, who only needed ~20mil to get to 95.The first game I made ,I decided to mf a few areas while waiting for the game to fill up.First drop I get is from Eldridge and there is a shiny gold jewel on the ground.One id scroll later and i am the owner of a 5-5 die lite facet.
Do I really need this facet? No, so I find a game and trade it for 2 organ sets.Well now my priorities have changed.Running uber trist is much more interesting than 25-30 baal runs so I get my smiter and off I go.
After two surprisingly quick ut games ,I now have 2 un'id torches.Should I trade them un'id or not?The last 6-8 torches i've id were all crappy zon or necro so I figured the odds were at least one of them would be valuable.The first torch---20-20 SORC!!! OK that made my night!Now the second---16-15PALLY not bad. Probably the best two i've gotten back to back.
Now comes the tough choice,I can use the p-torch but I already have good torches on my 2 sorcs on ladder and have 2 perf sorc torches on nl.I decide to auction the sorc torch.I post in the trading forum and within 45 min. the bidding has reached 40 hrs.Im thinking "wow thats a pretty good pay off for maybe 1-1/2 hrs of my time".The next day ,i close the bidding and we agree to a mule trade(the buyer is a very trusted member here)and very shortly he messages me in game that the trade is done.I go to the mule and instantly notice 4 empty spaces in my inventory were there should be runes.Well I think we all know thats the chance you take with hrs.After several pm's between myself and the buyer,he has offered to replace the missing runes and I have declined,after all its not his fault that 90% of them are dupes.
Its now Sun. evening and my son has just returned from his mom's.I tell him of the recent events abd we decide to make some rw's for some of his chars.I open op the mule and there are only 10 hrs left--10(and yes i did use the temp perm meth. when i left the previous time).So now i've gone from extremely happy to serverely p.o.'d.We take some of the remaining runes and make 2 ds fort's,and a grief pb.At this point my son is really mad and tells me that i should demand replacements for the poofed runes.I try to explain to him that "its just pixels on a screen" and no one can be sure of a hr unless its self found.Then i add up the total gain from the whole weekend
(1) 5/5 lite facet +1-1/2 hours work = (1) 16-15 p-torch +(2) dusk shroud fort,'s +(1) grief pb +5 hrs still left. I think that's a decent return.
My questions to you fellow forumers ;
1. If dealt the same hand would you be happy for the total profit or p.o.'d at the loss of 30 hrs?
2. Would you accept(or demand) compensation for the lost runes?
As for me,I'm content with the overall profit and would not accept compensation(he did offer a 2nd time after the additional losses),after all it is just a game right?
