I played for 30½ hours, did 1620 p1 Pit runs with a 65 second run average, finding 20 TC87s. I think I got unlucky when it comes to quantity of TC87s/haul pic worthy drops, but certainly very lucky when it comes to quality. More details here.

The character is fragile, because he's built that way, but extremely efficient at finding Uniques. I've improved him steadily since introducing him in the Winter 2011 MFO (run time was 76 seconds back then, 11fpa, less hork, less MF etc), and at 810 MF I think I've reached the highest MF breakpoint that's practically reasonable. The next one, 828 MF, would require an essentially unattainable 2/15+/~35 MF crafted amulet, among other things.

The Barb Helm allows me to reach 56% hork rather than the much more reasonable 55%, but it comes at a pretty high cost. Losing that much life from a Cham'd 1.07 Shako means a lot less Strength to compensate, and even though the theory is that the Barb Helm allows for a higher "ceiling" in efficiency (56>55), it might be that the loss in DPS is significant enough to make it a bad choice. When respeccing for this MFO, I put his life at 2400, which resulted in too little Strength, and for the next time I play him seriously, I would respec down to maybe 2200 and hope it would lead to much fewer bosses needing 2 hits to die. I will also try to make a serious effort of getting him a few more levels, which could only help both with safety and with strength. I'm sure he's got another second or two of run time to shave off from being better built, and probably a second or two more from being better played, and definitely a second or two more from having a computer that doesn't suck for Diablo playing. So, there's always room for improvement! He's pretty damn sick as he is, though.

From my original thread on him last year, there's this video. It's outdated when it comes to equipment, strategy, MF, hork%, efficiency, hardware, etc, but it's all I got for the time being, and it's pretty much close enough I guess. After the MFO, he's been de-equipped and respecced for some Baal running, but when/if I get back to running him (next MFO?) I'll look into making an updated video.

This character would probably make Fabian sick. :badteeth: Very poorly optimized, but that's what happens when you're just trying to scrape together a runner from scratch in a few weeks. Gunslinger is my favorite character, so that's why I chose this particular build. Also, I received 'Faith' and many other useful things from frozzzen and company to make things much easier.

The run times are very slow, but not so much when you consider it's (1) on /players 7 because I like experience and runes, and (2) she doesn't use/have a single javelin skiller or (more importantly) 'Infinity'. She's also extremely fragile, in case the initial screenshots didn't already make this clear. A careless LF into a pair of Cold Enchanted bosses (or a single Cold Enchanted who felt like going out with a double shot) almost always equated to death. Heck, scoring a critical hit against a Cold Enchanted/Lightning Enchanted pack often led to death, what with those nasty invisible novas. Between that and the constant skill switching, runs were actually quite entertaining, albeit a bit stressful/draining.

As far as actually optimizing her, she'd want 'Infinity' and a respec into a much more pure lightning build. I have a 1.10s 'Call to Arms' Matriarchal Bow waiting in the wing for that particular moment (prebuff and five point bow switch for helping the moron kill nasty unbreakable bosses, since I just can't stand leaving something behind). That kind of build would also open the door for placing much more MF into her gear and inventory, and it'd also mean more vitality/resistances. >_<;;

She tried two different maps (and a bit of CS for occasional downtime while replenishing javelins) over the course of the competition. Her killspeed is relatively good, but the extremely slow cast rate of her teleport probably keeps her no closer to barbarians than any other second tier runners (poisonmancer, etc.). I suppose the teleporting more than anything explains why run times were the same despite two very different maps (bosspack quantity was about 1.5 or 2 packs greater per run on map #2).

Either way, I'm relatively happy with the effort. Another character taken from the mid 80's (85 in this case) to 96 (in spite of a few dozen too many deaths -_-) over the course of one MFO. :badteeth:

It's just a basic brute force version of the pindle barb. The other option is Grief+Azurewrath/Lawbringer for the Sanctuary Aura (=no PI pindle). That does less damage and has a a higher chance of shattering pindles corpse, but doesn't have any problems with PI pindle.

@Fabian: Those charms assortment is just sick!!! :crazyeyes: I think I don't even have one Fine SC of Good luck with 7% MF...and I found around 60 to 70 7% MF charms in total. Have to keep rerolling, I guess...and the helmet is pure awesomeness! How did you get it? Run yourself or trade?
Also: 2 Tyrael's in one lifetime: You should be banned :whistling:

@Nagi: ** hours??? Wow...that's...mental? What area did you run? Pit or WSK? Or something completely different? Can't view videos at work, so no way of finding out...but I assume Pits, since you mention her cast ratem which keeps her no closer to barbs than other 2nd tier runners.

Has anyone ever tried running Pits without Enigma? Is it possible? I still stick to AT, but get bored by the surroundings :p

Thanks, it's taken a pretty huge amount of effort/wealth to get those charms, they're quite lovely. The Helm comes from a trade from nulio, who started looking at 1.07 Barb Helms specifically because I said a Berserker's with +3 Berserk/FI/BO/Sword Master/etc type staffmods would be useful to me :) A pretty ridiculous find on his part.

At least bcoe has found 2 Tyrael's before I have, and honestly I thought more people have. I might be mistaken on that though :) Oh and Nagisa ran Pit.

Running Pits without Enigma.. It can be done obviously, but it's not going to be anywhere near efficient, or competitive. If you want a good area MF character, it needs to be a sorc or someone with an Enigma, that's just how it goes.

My singer does. It's slow! I think my run times are about 2.30 w. 350 MF or so. Not efficient at all but.. I have no Jah or Ber and still have fun ;) han he has won an MFO even though that was just pure luck.

Good old AT blizzard sorceress. I didn't think I would be able to play with her ever again cause char got messed up somehow and loading times when you go from act 2 to act 1 with Wariv were about 8 - 11 seconds. Clearly not acceptable for anything semi competitive right? Couple days before MFO I tried to fix her and by deleting .map file of hers my loading times were reduced to 1 sec or so <3
It's funny, I participated with her in couple MFOs and initially my run times were about 54-55 seconds average with 105 fcr, managed to lower it to ~45 seconds, and by deleting that nasty load time I got it to 38 seconds or so. All on same map. And that was by lowering her fcr from 105 ro 63. Sadly, map doesn't have 10 bosspack spawns, but rather 6 - 7 that are consistent. Ofc 38 sec would be very good, but I watched stuff 90% of the time so my run times were much slower. I think it kept me motivated enough so it was worth it.

I was never that crazy PvM optimizer but this char looks rather nice. Still need to get 3MF to reach 743 MF breakpoint (probably can be done with 2 more levels for Skulder's to kick in or getting better ring) and better DF, but I'm not overly concerned with that.

Merc used Insight/Andy/Fort. Lazy man gear obviously. I was considering infinity for CI bosses but I think overall Insight was better. Merc could 2-3 hit kill almost anything there. Defiance merc. No, really :) I'm stuck with this guy since I started to play D2 so I'm not ditching him now.

Runes were nice, Cham Vex, Lo, Gul, Gul. Nothing too crazy but they will get some use probably. First thing I see here is second Doom BA. Must...resist... Qualifiers were cool. Actually got something that is useful outside of MFO - 12/19 griffons and 19% DF. Mang's in #8 and by having eth one this was kinda underwhelming but still nice qualifier. 3 Templar's were just :x

With 2300 life and ~60 to LR and ~30 CR she was very safe. I don’t think that I’ve died, but it’s possible. With focus on other things it can happen I guess. But it can also happen that you forget about it >_>

Probably won’t be doing haul picture. I’m lazy, blame me for that.

Yeah Insight is pretty much required. I don't know exactly what it would take to be able to go without (SoJs, Wizardspikes, MPK Rings, points in Energy?), but it surely doesn't seem worth it even though Fanaticism would be kinda nice.

Speaking of Fanaticism, I thought with a setup like yours you could probably reach 9fpa with Military Pick off-hand? That 136 dex requirement sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Or do you need Goldwrap as well? If so I'd look into it, dunno. -Hotos -Arach +Suicide Branches +Goldwrap seems like a good improvement for your character to me, you lose 1% hork but you gain IAS if necessary, you gain 30 MF and you gain 60MF on hork.

Edit: Guess that's 2% because of that Amulet. Meh, still seems good to me but I dunno.

Well I kept my part in the Team Fail. :p

All but the last three days were a wash out for me; too busy with other stuff to run. It was really only Friday-Sunday did I actually manage to get some decent (for me) runs in. I watched a few series on You Tube and a few old ones on IPlayer while running; which is something I don't normally do. I think I complained about new series having far too much background music; really is distracting. Luckily there were a few things from the 80's on IPlayer.

I changed my map on Saturday and that did seem to improve the drops a bit. It's not such a fast tele to the Throne but I was hitting interesting looking bosses on the way down anyway. Interestingly, if the BK Charge came from the Waves/Baal it'd be worth a shed load more; but I'd only have climbed one place. :D

Not many qualifiers which is a bit disappointing but for three days running (for me; I can't sit and run for 8 hours straight), isn't bad. Oddly I got more points in the WSK.

Baal was his usual tight self but unusually I did get a qualifier from the Waves. Usually everything seem to come from Baal for me.

I did restrain myself from picking up every gem but my rune luck was awful which is about par for the course. I got an Um from one of the Waves but that was it apart from a Fal I picked up somewhere in the Keep.

There did seem to be a bit of a doll/gloam thing going on which was depressing but about par for the course. I confess to a couple of "Stuff that for a game of soldiers" when I came across a boss doll pack. Just not worth the risk of dying.

My usual MO is to teleport down on /players 3 because that's what I had it set for Baal. I can't be bothered to change it, it gives a few more things to kill on the way down. It does make the Throne a bit more annoying but .. hey ho.

Saw a bunch of recommendations for Glad's Bane on the merc and briefly tried it but it didn't work for me, so I went back to Treachery which seems to keep him nice and safe. I used to use Andy's/Reapers/Treachery but a while ago I tried Delirium and I rather like it. He doesn't seem to miss the IAS or leech. He stands against an angry LI Lister fine. I've never bothered to do the Treachery/Delirium in Elite items because I can't get a high enough def to make it worth it and I'm not changing to a defiance merc.

I'd love to get 250% MF but that's going to involve a couple of zomg upgrades. I periodically try crafting another ammy (for more FCR, to free up the rings) but my luck with crafting always was terrible. :D

I did pick up these and it's a real shame they don't have MF but I'm very pleased with them.

What was quite amusing was teleporting/walking along and finding things on the ground. Between Chain Lightning and Thunderstorm things do die off screen a fair bit. I like the TS for a bit of stun. Not sure whether to stick my skill point from 98 into that or Static.

Not much else to say except I'm back to running her more frequently. Also picked up the Necromancer part of my Sept, found his build plan (yes it was on the back of an envelope, but I had put it in my D2 file so ner ner). He's moved from Act 1 NM to Act 3 so if I can be faffed to load in another char, I'll give him the LK way point because I hate the jungle. If not, he'll be trogging through there.

I don't think Insight is that much required, you drink that purple pots very often already and you can add one blue pots row (I have two). Also, you pick up a pot or two while looking at the ground for drops so that is another pro for ditching Insight.

Benefits of Fanaticism are that you can use BA + Military pick as you mentioned and reach that 9 FPA without anything else. Since you already use Goldwrap you can use "low roll on IAS" Grief. And, Fana gives you extra AR so that makes up for loss in dex. You only lose ED from Might but in reality you don't because you have extra 130 max damage. You also have better range with BA. Sounds good in theory but test it yourself, I did, and I like it more than Insight.

I use phase blade (I have 6 Isted war axe which is also enough for 9 FPA ) because I didn't feel like running Diablo and Meph for essences in the middle of MFO, as I used them all up for Assassin. My Pindle runner is far from optimized because I didn't think I'd get DWeb on the first day and Mang Song on third.
You must have some sort of weird magical wizard equipment if you got a 105FCR telebarb to work to your liking in the Pit without Insight I guess. Nice!
I do have a lots of "+to all" skills from HoTOs, Arach, Shako so that makes Teleport less mana intesive. I usually chuk one blue when entering Pit Level 1 and one before Level 2 and in meantime a lot of purples because I have only ~1700 life so I can barely notice that Insight is gone.

Runtime: 70 sec, MF: 368, Players 1 runs. Kind of an okay character though obviously not as good as some of the other ones posted. Ran her for a while. Pindle was run with a Barb with generic type WW build, except armor was Skullders ( no enigma ), and weapon was IstIst tomb reaver to push the MF to 570 ( kill/hork both, harmony switch ). TR isn't dual grief material, but on players 1, it's definitely okay.

Only played till Monday though.. just monotonous, not much challenge, not much reward either. Spent the rest of the week running p8 WSK+Baal with lightningfury zon ( no MF ). Two HR came out of that, which was the highlight for me, and Spirit Ward. Baal also dropped a shaefer's hammer, but that doesn't count in 'other area 85'. I'd estimate about 10 hrs of 'MFOing' and then another 20 hrs of WSK/Baal runs. I was surprised by the low standing in Pindle though, at one point I was third.

I respeced my PvP fire sorc to level her in MFO. Initial plan, supported by bad math, was to get her from 94 to 96 - she wasn't far from 95. I ended up getting her to about 95.25.

She used PTopaz Shako (lol too lazy to Ist it), Ist'ed 30CSD Fathom, Spirit, 2Sorc 10FCR PvP amulet (this is where I could net more MF), Nigma (FRW for town running, MF, skills), 2 beta BKWB, Chancies, WT, Arach/Goldwrap(I tried both), Harmony on switch, 7skillers, Gheeds's and MF SCs. She had around 400MF. Stats are pretty straightforward, blizzard and synergies, CM and warmth.

I tried to make her strongest possible (cause of XP/time - P7 Pindle) but with some nice MF. Amulet and better WT and not putting her together in just first day of MFO would have probably resulted in something marginally better. No idea if I missed some MF Breakpoint :p I'm no Fabian ^^

If Blizzards didn't miss Pindle runs were pretty-ish fast. Some aborted runs due to CI Pindle. Oh I used act3 merc with lawbringer for safety and because I don't have Infinity and was lazy to beg for one. This was major flaw.

I just made a hell lot of runs - the fact that I have an injured foot helped (I can't/shouldn't walk much so gamer mode 100% on) and I had the house all to myself for some days (playing without social interactions lol). IRC helped keeping my sanity and motivation.

12734 runs from adding all days (I didn't notice I had downloaded the normal run counter until it was too late - goal was having run counter with runs from 10 days...). I didn't pick most lower qualifiers - I regretted this when I wanted to compare qualifiers per runs/time with scrcrw.

August 16: I traded some pgems I got from andy (traders were very generous, especially Paradigm Shift) for her mf-ing gear.
~August 17-19: Got some qualifiers
~August 20-23: Worst 3k pindle runs ever - almost no qualifiers.
~August 24-26: Got the final qualifiers.

I'm not sure, but I think she is the youngest olympian... What I know is that the past 15 days were kinda hurry. Everything was very nice (except S/U from pindle - charm traded with nulio for Jah+ saved the week) and I had lots of fun! Thanks, everyone!

I stopped that and boom my runtime halfed or so.

I discoverd that it was fastest to only resurrect 3 skellies and not 10 in pindles garden because then the merc got to kill the first Pindle minion faster and i saved time at the start.
I more or less perfected my routine on Thursday and could have gotten to like 6 or 7k total runs but friday i was unable to play because of a terrible hangover. And on sunday friends showed up spontaneous...

..so i only got done 3810 runs .. it was still fun

But i think Pindle hates me.
I got not one necro-specific unique - but all the claws at least twice -.- Also the Shako still eludes me

But all in all I got massive amounts of items i never had seen before ^^ and a lot of knowledge on how to properly run a target

Best find besides the qualifiers was a Vex - HotO her i come

During this MFO she had 1 good day. This netted both my no. 1 and 2 of the final five. Other than that drops were pretty bad. After finding 2 horizon's the 3rd scourge was finally the right one.

As stated before xp was the main goal. So despite not being able to run as much as i wanted or win this, i still achieved my main goal: reaching 98.

Nulio, you've inspired me to start a 13k Pindle runs longer-term project. 👍 I did not know you could get so many HRs from Pindle running. Is your result within standards or were you just very lucky? Also, were those Pindle drops or from his pals? (I'm currently running on /p7 for the XP, but might switch to /p1 when the progress slows down - if those were drops from Pindle)

Looking at ingame.de drop calculator for P7 Hell Pindle it was luck. Still nothing compared to four Zod Runes from Pindle *cof* frozzzen *cof*

The lenymo, SoJ, Astreon's and Dweb are also very rare (well obviously...) (or rarer if you don't pack MF). The thing with MFO is that to win you need luck. We just need to look at Nagisa's case, such an amazing amount of playing time in each MFO and crazy D2 skills but that didn't translate in number of wins.

I've been defending a different kind of score. Either just a bigger top or some kind of mean with all qualifiers.
 
All qualifiers would be troublesome, but I def would like to see my infernal cranium netting me some points... It's harder to find than Asteron's, iirc... :whistling: A bigger top could work imo (people would mention the top 3 for tie breaking).

Imo, the claim system should change. I believe that something closer to what nulio did on the results thread (asking for readouts of Treks, wolhowls, dungo's, etc.) can end up in better torphies than darkforce spawn, bad CoA and ltd. co.

Ah, too bad. Still in a dilemma. I think /p7 runs take about a couple of more seconds to complete (with 50MF less, Ist'd DF vs. Ist'd Ocy for /p1), which translates to around 1300 more runs (supposing 20s runs) over 13k.
