Mephathon (the other white mea... errr... Pindlethon)
Tired of the seemingly endless blue and yellow drops from the Pindlethon? If so, this is the thread for you.
Basically, this is the same idea: 2000 runs against Hell Mephisto, keep track of your elite sets/uniques, then post, compare and vote on final results. Blah, blah, blah. Since I'm the one running this show though, there are going to be a few tweaks to...
THE RULES:
(stolen blatantly from the Pindlethon - mostly)
1) Count your Mephisto runs
2) The Tourney ends for you if you have done 2000 Meph runs or...
3) The Tourney ends Dec-31-2007 local time midnight (a little extra time because of the Pindlethon and upcoming holiday season). You may participate in both tourneys.
4) You can use any player settings.
5) The winner is the one who gets the most votes from other participants for the best items; only tourney participants would have completed at least 1000 runs can vote.
6) For the statistics purposes, all found elite uniques and sets must be noted and reported at the end of the tourney as well as jewelry with qlvl higher than 38 (SoJ and better) and Tal-Rasha's Adjudication amulet (qlvl 26). These items are called "qualifiers" in the counting. You don't have to pick up every single IK Maul and Dangoon's Teaching if you don't want to, but keep track of it and report it with your final results. A complete list of qualifiers can be found here.
7) Even if you don't finish 2K runs in time, you are still obligated to post your results within 3 days of the tourney's completion.
8) After you finish 2K runs or after the deadline, you should post your best 5 items with full readouts. It could be qualifiers, runes, rares, magic items, whatever you choose. The voting for winner will be based on these 5 items. Then post the list of all your qualifiers (preferably sets, uniques and jewelry separately). Readouts for these isn't obligatory, but specify if the item is ethereal. Then post the other notable items you have found, if you want to.
9) Only items from Mephisto count, not the items from Council members, a random basket, or a roaming Bloodlord.
10) Only accepted mods are 1.10,1.11, and variations RWM, RRM. FE mod is not acceptable, and also drop mods and other. Only legit characters. You can use multiple characters if you want, but 2000 runs is your limit.
11) Tourney starts now. You can start whenever you want, but remember that the tourney ends with the current year.
12) Final result must be posted in this thread latest by January 3, again local time. Voting will commence January 5, local time and will go on for a week (at most), or until everyone has voted. The winner will be announced whenever I get around to tallying things up. :hide:
THE PRIZE(S):
Unlike the current Pindlethon, there will be an optional choice on winning and exchanging items. If you want to keep all of your drops, then you may. If you want to participate with the chance to win a bunch of stuff, you may do that also. When you signup, you'll need to specify if you're pro-exchange (i.e. "I want the chance to win some stuff") or not (i.e. "I want to keep all of my drops, which means I'm not able to win someone elses"). This should hopefully be obvious by the two progress tables listed below. Quick Note: You may not change your decision once you've begun your runs.
Obviously, if you are willing to exchange items, you also need to specify if you're using any mods and if you're playing hardcore (softcore will be assumed if HC isn't mentioned). Likewise, version 1.11b will be assumed, so if you're playing v1.10 you'll need to specify it.
Voting will be pretty similar to the Pindlethon, with 3-points awarded to first-place, 2-points awarded for second-place, and 1-point awarded for third. However, I'd actually like to encourage people to go into the item exchange, so I'm going to tweak the vote-weighting in that regard. If you're pro-exchange, then all of your votes get +1 added to them. In other words, if you're in the pro-exchange group, your vote will add +4 points for first-place, +3 points for second-place, and +2 points for third.
BTW, you cannot vote for yourself in any regard, so show some sportsmanship (although I do encourage trash-talking ).
THE WINNER:
Yes, the winner gets the most points from the voting, and can brag all he (or she) wants. Obviously though, the highest ranked pro-exchange person is also of note, even if that person is in 17th place. If the first 16 people all wanted to keep every drop, then they won't be claiming prizes from others, they're free to brag-up their position ("Woot, I'm 14th!!!!!"), and that's that.
This section is referring to the highest-ranked person who is eligible to claim prizes.
- Every person in the pro-exchange crowd may protect two items from being claimed by the winner. If you want to protect a specific item, make it obvious to everyone (a good example is Hrus' Mang's listed in this post).
- The winner may only claim one item from any given person
- Obviously you may not claim an item from a person that specified that they will be keeping all of their drops when they signed up.
- The winner may only claim 5 items total for their prize. Period.
- The winner may only claim 'qualifiers'. You may not claim runes or other items from a person, even if they are listed within that person's top 5 (exception, TC3 items may also be claimed if they're listed in the top 5 and are unprotected .
If a tie occurs for top-claimant I will PM a random non-participant and ask them to provide a vote on the items (without specifying who has whatever items), so this should be as impartial as is reasonably possible.
That's it. It's mostly Hrus' and Cygnus' rule set, with minor tweaks to hopefully satisfy those wanting to swap items as well as those who don't.
