Diablo 2: Resurrected
Typhon, Level 90 • Uber Necromancer Summoner

If there’s any build capable of challenging a Smiter in dealing with Ubers, the Summoner Necromancer is undoubtedly one of the best contenders. Ubers possess numerous immunities and attributes that make them extremely difficult for most builds to handle.
By leveraging a powerful army of summons, strategic use of curses, and key item choices to counter the bosses’ unique attributes, this Necromancer is specifically designed to conquer Uber Tristram. Let’s explore how a Summoner Necromancer can accomplish this feat even with budget gear while many other characters struggle.
Typhon was one of the most powerful beings in Greek mythology—so fearsome that even the Olympian gods fled before him. What chance do the gods of Uber Tristram stand against him?
Positive
+ Massive Army
+ High FCR
+ Unique Playstyle
+ Ubers
Negative
- Slow on Players 8
- Untouchable but Fragile
- Need to re-summon Army
Stats
Just put enough Strength and Dexterity (for Beast) for gear and put the rest points into Vitality. Since Enigma is a vital part of this build you can basically equip everything without much Strength added especially if you are on D2R and have access to a Torch and Anni.
The backbone Skill of this build is obviously Revive and maxing it is absolutely essential. With the additional skill points from gear, we can summon a massive army of Revives, which serve as the key to victory providing both raw damage and durability needed to take down the Ubers . The more Revives we have, the faster the Ubers will fall, making this strategy incredibly effective. Skeletons take a secondary role, serving as additional damage dealers rather than the core of your army. investing in Skeleton Mastery is still essential though since it improves your revives as well.
Regarding the golems, Clay Golem is the best choice. His powerful slow effect combined with Decrepify will make the fight significantly easier. Maxing Golem Mastery is a great option to increase your golem’s survivability, reducing the need for unnecessary re-summons. Meanwhile, one point in Summon Resist is sufficient, as gear bonuses will boost it to an effective level
For the Curses we’ll be utilizing three key skills: Amplify Damage, Decrepify, and Terror.

Corpse Explosion is mainly needed for the Cow Level to generate plenty and fast corpses.
Gear
Just like in our previous guide, + to All Skills is an important stat to consider, though it’s not as essential this time. Since Revives are the core of this build, you have the flexibility to focus more on survivability if you prefer a safer approach. However, I strongly recommend investing in high Faster Cast Rate to speed up your summoning since without it, reviving your army can become tedious. Needless to say, teleporting fast is quite enjoyable as well. Therefore aiming for 75% FCR is vital while also very easy to achieve without sacrificing parts of our gear.
Enigma is absolutely essential not just for the mobility it provides, but because a Summoner’s entire strategy revolves around it while a Wisp Projector allows us to summon the Heart of Wolverine, boosting our minions’ damage and Attack Rating. For the weapon, Beast is unmatched, granting us the Fanaticism Aura, which greatly increases our minions’ attack speed, damage and of course the often overlooked stat but just as important, Attack Rating.
Since for the most part, the minions do all the work, Faster Cast Rate is the only thing to bother you as it comes very convenient with teleporting and most importantly with summoning tons of minions fast.

Your Mercenary plays a vital role in this build, so equipping him properly is critical. An Act 2 Might Mercenary is an excellent choice to carry the items we
need and to buff our Minions with his Might Aura.
Preparation
Now that we’re fully geared up, it’s time to make some preparations.

Slowing Ubers
Now, We’ve mentioned the combination of Clay Golem and Decrepify several times, so let’s see how the Slow mechanics work to maximize their effectiveness:

Ubers have a 50% cap limit on slow. This mean that a level 10 Clay Golem already applies the maximum slow so investing more points into it won’t increase the slow any further while also removing the need for additional slow effect from items such as Kelpie Snare. But even if the Ubers didn't have that limit the Hireling and the Clay Golem would still not work because it's the same source of slow but coming from different targets. This effectively removes the idea of equipping your mercenary with "Slow Target" items when using Clay Golem.
However, you can develop a different approach by using slow effects on your mercenary while switching to a different golem. For example, Kelpie Snare on the hireling combined with an Iron Golem made from high-end runewords like Pride or Beast can offer a new strategy but, this increases the build’s cost significantly and demands more adjustments to your character. In contrast, Clay Golem already provides all the slow you need with minimal investment and complexity.
Now The reason why Decrepify stands out is because it adds a separate 50% slow effect, it's a different type of slow which stacks with the Clay Golem’s exceeding the 50% slow cap therefore effectively working on ubers.
The Battle
While the fight is manageable, caution is still required. The first step is to separate Mephisto from the other Ubers. Once isolated, our top priority is to immediately slow him down to protect our Mercenary, as he will be Mephisto’s primary target. To achieve this, cast Decrepify and summon Clay Golem directly in front of him. The Clay Golem's slow will apply even when it is attacked. This combination will greatly reduce Memphisto's overall speed, making the fight much safer. Once this is done, teleport on top of him to regroup your minions and force them to focus all their attacks on him. Once your army is in place, switch to Amplify Damage to speed up his demise.

The same strategy applies to the remaining two bosses:
By following this strategy, you’ll maintain full control of the battle and make quick work of the Ubers.
Conclusion
Taking on Uber Tristram as a pure Summoner Necromancer can usually be done even with budget gear, but with the right strategy, equipment, and minion composition, you can save yourself a lot of time and trouble finishing one of toughest endgame events with little to no problems at all. Now, raise your army, step into the darkness, and show the Ubers why the dead should be feared!

For the Curses we’ll be utilizing three key skills: Amplify Damage, Decrepify, and Terror.
- Decrepify, combined with Clay Golem, will drastically slow down the Ubers, giving us a crucial advantage at the start of the fight. This control allows our summons to establish dominance while minimizing incoming damage.
- Once the battle is under control, switching to Amplify Damage will help us finish the Ubers faster. Since Crushing Blow becomes less effective as the bosses’ health drops, increasing raw damage output is key to securing the kill.
- Terror is required on the way to Decrepify, but it’s more than just a prerequisite. Casting Terror will scatter the Uber minions, keeping them away from overwhelming our summons or targeting our character. Conveniently, Terror doesn’t affect bosses, so you won’t have to worry about overriding your main curse during the fight.

Corpse Explosion is mainly needed for the Cow Level to generate plenty and fast corpses.

Preparation
Now that we’re fully geared up, it’s time to make some preparations.
- The first thing that we need to do is rolling a Map with Urdars. While Urdars aren’t strictly necessary, having several of them will drastically speed up the Uber fight. They have a 25% chance to trigger Crushing Blow, which is incredibly effective against bosses. But We don't need them just yet so don't kill them. We will come back later.
- Once we roll the map, we need to summon some Skeletons to establish our army. A great place to do this is Nihlathak’s Temple, where several corpses are conveniently available for immediate use. Even though this is not essential to the strategy., you can also switch to Arm of King Leoric to summon stronger Skeletons
- The last step is to revive a dozen of Cows, as they form the final and most important part of our army. Cows hit hard, but more importantly, the Secret Cow Level provides the ideal environment for mass reviving. Since Revives have a limited duration, summoning a large army quickly is crucial, and no other area offers the same level of convenience both in terms quality and quantity.

- Isolate one at a time
- Cast Decrepify to slow them down

- Cast Terror when enemy Minions are summoned
