Well the Mav's set is definitely geared toward the cold tree and a FA/Strafe combo works well with this gear. If you wanna dream a bit how about a Mara's,an Anni, two SOJ's or SOJ/BK combo, 50% War Travs and a 195% Burrito?

Any build with Mavs set will have a tremendous lack of Life and Mana leech, so you will constantly be chugging pots to keep shotting those Freezing Arrows.

Not recommended.

you can have 2 leeching rings, one leeching amu and even amn in the bow if you want.

A friend of mine has mavina set and he uses multishot and strafe. It works pretty well, imo. He doesnt use FA (so "lose" the 20% cold damage) but his skills arent mana hungry. Think he has cats eye, a dual leech ring and a ravenfrost or something like that, not sure.

The leech is not really the problem since as triqui points out that is easy to fix with rings and amulet. The main problem is the relatively low damage of the bow. Builds based on strafe or multishot as the main attack suffer from low damage and lots of charms and War Travs can't really bridge the gap.

The huge resists and high defence (for a bowazon :) ) are very nice and the cold damage and chill length are a great basis for a Freezing Arrow build. The 2 main variants are a FA/ Stafe and a Cold / Fire build where the large number of + skills help.

From the IAS viewpoint the set is interesting. The set uses all the normal slots an Amazon would use to boost IAS, except for the amulet, so only jewels or a shael in the bow can increase shooting speed. The set comes with 30% IAS from the Diadem and 40% from the bow and that reaches 10/3 without any help. Adding 20% from an amulet (say) gives 90% IAS and gets a creditable 9/3 strafe and 9 frame FA shooting speed. To get the 9/2 strafe a combination 2 IAS jewels or a shael are needed leaving only one possible socket free for other mods. The 147% IAS needed for 8/2 cannot be obtained using the set.

Overall, a great basis for FA based zon that can easilly take you through Hell. I just wish I could find the last 2 parts of the set ...

Only partially true HF and not a cause at all for outright dismissal. Most Zons here have used the Mav's set with great success. It's all about correctly addressing weak areas, developing solutions and adjusting play style to suit the build's strengths. No one assumes a straight FA spam-style attack with Mav's set. It has to be used in close co-ordination with Strafe. I call it freeze 'em and fry 'em. Couple of FA volleys then Strafe 'em to ice cubes. Keeping the Strafe attack up will refill mana/life fairly quickly with only minimal leech. With a 9/3 Strafe attack very doable a properly designed Mav's build, focused on the cold tree, can be devasting.

It has already been stated a few times in this thread that leech is not a problem with the set. I can attest to that fact as there was a time when I used a 6% rare life leech ring and a 14/4 Crescent Moon amulet. With 19% total mana leech, I would gain mana with a successful hit.

I now use a dual leech ring and replaced Crescent Moon with Highlord's Wrath to achieve a 9/3 attack. I have only 6% life leech, which seems meager until you consider that you have multiple arrows hitting multiple targets. It's more than enough and I have a good amount of hit points to serve me well in the first place.

The only drawback of the set would be pure physical damage, but I don't concern myself with that much because I can still kill monsters at a decent rate. With cold damage charms, I have a couple seconds of freeze time in Hell difficulty, and you can do a lot in those couple of seconds. I subscribe to the freeze and burn school of thought, and a maxed Immolation Arrow is a nice complement to Freezing Arrow. Depending on the area, I use Multishot or Strafe as my primary attack. I only use Freezing Arrow for crowd control when soloing and for times when there is no Necromancer or Druid that uses monster corpses in a party.
