Behind on my write-ups, so let’s get down to business.

This is a Phoenix Strike assassin. Incredibly fun, but also difficult at times. The timing of releasing the charges is really tough to get into a rhythm and after periods of not playing for a while makes it even worse, but more on that later. I believe I was somewhere around level 84 at the end of the play through. I quested through the game with crawlingdeadman and his Maul/Shockwave/Summoner Bear Druid, which I will link in here if he ever writes his thread. Which is now done.

Build and Gear Progression:

The build was standard for a phoenix strike sin skill wise. Early levels I pumped fists of fire and claws of thunder until level 30, putting one point into relevant shadow skills and traps as I went along. From level 30 on I went full on maxing phoenix strike, and then maxed fists of fire and claws of thunder evenly through leveling up until they were both maxed. After that I sunk spare skill points into Death Sentry for a nice corpse explosion radius. I think I need two more points in death sentry for it to reach max level, and then after that I would call the build “complete”. The extra damage from pumping the cold synergy didn’t seem worth it to me, and if I were to progress further I would probably boost dragon claw next.

Stats are of course, enough to equip gear, rest into vitality. Somewhere near end game when I was finally able to equip Nat’s claw and decided on the jewels I was using I burnt a respect to bring myself down to the minimum strength/dexterity needed to equip gear and the rest into vitality. Being a martial arts sin that didn’t rely on physical damage to a large extent, I worked on the more life the better approach.

Gear was kind of mish mashed for early leveling as I scoured through my random rare claws that I had, and kind of shifted them in and out as I leveled. I did use the standard array of low level sets until more interesting exceptional level items became available. At level 42 I switched to Bartuc’s and never looked back. I did consider and in fact use jade talon at one point, but it’s slow, and I didn’t need the extra resistance to a large amount. As the Nat set pieces became available I put them to use, so it did mean that I was using the helm and boots for quite some time, even though on their own they are pretty much nothing more than stat/res boosters. The claw has quite an annoyingly high level requirement, so it limited my play time with the full set, but I think I got to use it for most of Act 3 and onward, might have been a bit in Act 2 as well, but I can’t remember. I believe I got the 3 socketed armor from cdm as I didn’t have one with 3 sockets available at the time and some members of the HC MP group were kind enough to trade me a full set of skill charms, and they all match, and you know style is everything. When finishing the setup, for the first time I combed through my stash of rare jewels, and picked out the ones that worked the best, while still fitting together name wise. Raven Eye, Raven Heart, Stone Eye in the armor. Skull Heart in the Bartuc’s. Grim Eye is Nat’s Claw.

Questing and Gameplay:

Questing was pretty smooth and steady. The point of the two characters together is to make game play so that one person doesn’t feel like they are doing any less than the other, while not using overly common and over powered builds. The two builds worked well together, cdm provided the tanks, stun, and physical damage, and I provided the array of elemental damage. The summons allowed me to focus less on walking around crowds to find the best angle to get the ice charge out, which was great when you have to stand there and charge up the first strike to the last one. His merc used infinity for that nice conviction, increasing our chances to hit and upping the elemental damage, and my merc used reapers to slow everything down and increase the physical damage he and his summons did, it was all around a good setup.

No real trouble in terms of game play. I don’t recall a lot of details other than a lot of pretty colors, so that’s probably a good thing. Phoenix Strike though is an interesting skill. There are three options, fire, lightning, and cold. Great for an array of damage, and hey! The first charge is fire, and you can drop meteors as fast as can release the charge, this is great for non-fire immunes, and generally isn’t too hard to release, as soon as I saw one orb floating around I knew I could drop the meteor, no problem. The second charge was a bit tricky. I was commonly releasing the charge too soon, or too late, the first case was more annoying than the second, as hey, frozen monsters for longer no big deal, but in most cases I was trying to cast the 2nd charge on a group of fire immunes and dropping a meteor on their head wasn’t helping anything. I got better at this as we went along, but there were times where we wouldn’t play for a few days and I would have to rebuild my ability to watch for tiny orbs floating around. Missing with an attack through me off the most, but other than that, it wasn’t too terrible. General strategy was throw down a couple death sentries, gauge the immunes, rush in and try to release the right charge, some random cloak of shadows here and there, of course.

Interesting finds:

We had good rune luck questing, but not much else. An Ohm rune from Andy which I kept and a Sur in the Palace levels which cdm ended up keeping. I don’t recall the forge being an impressive drop.

Future Plans:

Not too much, random MPing and Baal runs, but nothing else in the works.

This is pretty much the most fun I`ve had while playing D2 ever. I could tell you stories upon stories about all the marvellous tricks this babe can do with her arsenal of skills, but I think you should just make one yourself. I can share a couple of things, though.
1: Static Field, Decreipify and Death Sentry=GG
2: Shadow master was a freaking killing machine as most fights started with me killing of one or two monsters with kicks, in the meantime she had dropped down a couple of Death Sentries and monsters were history.
3: CoS/MB and Blade Fury is a really neat way of dealing with Frenzytaurs and Gloams
4: Holy Freeze and Decreipify against freezable frenzytaurs=GG
5. Poison Facet in the stormlash was not worth it at all, a simple Eth would have been much better to help with AR when using BF.

Due to Mirri being twinked to the teeth and being equipped with pretty good endgame gear, I can`t really say she had any hard fights. There was one NDE in normal, because an OK was smarter than me and decided to leave the CS to curse me while I was fighting some monsters a little distance away. It worked like a charm for him and only the knockback from Dtalon saved me.
Ancients were taken down on the first try in a brutal way. Mirri just tanked them while kicking and they were bleeding all over the place, ran away to get out of range of Talic`s FE and used Blade Fury on the rest of his HPs.

Disclaimer: I know that the extra skiller doesn`t get me another kick and generally doesn`t do alot. My plan was to trade for two more skillers, but that didn`t happen and I was much too lazy to swap it out:)

Finds: Lenymo, The Reaper`s Toll, the UM rune in Guillame`s from NM Hellforge, the jewel in Stormshield and an Ist

Future plans for Mirri: None, she is done. I can`t really see her being better than any of my other chars at running anything.

Future plans for Thomh: A ton of LK runs. Some MPing with a Frenzybarb with Sorcererbob, starting a Singer, 200FCR Nova/Baller, FuryWolf and questing with my windy and Hammerdin who are both parked in mid-normal. There is a lot of stuff that needs to be done.

She found Gull early in Norm, and became the "team MFer". She hit 250% fairly early, and stayed 250-300% throughout the game. The ONLY time she switched to "battle gear" was against the Hell Ancients (more on that in a bit). Not allowed to use Cloak of Shadows, she relied on Mind Blast for crowd control. Passed on the standard Holy Freeze merc, going with Defiance to give both meat shields extra durability.

Best finds were Gul from the Hellforge :D , Boneshade, Nature's Peace, Stoneraven, Gheed's, and five skillers. All of these are in the tourney prize stash.

As I mentioned, I took out all act bosses at players8. As any of you that have played trapsins know, traps are not the most efficient killers at slvl23. These fights took a LONG time, especially Hell Baal - he took over an hour to finally kill.

But my proudest moment was defeating the Hell Ancients at P8 on the first go. Here's how it went:

First I swapped all MF gear & charms for killing/survival gear, and brought 58 full rejuvs for the battle. I put the Life Tap wand on the switch and Lower Resist wand for backup if needed. Nature's Peace was finally dusted off, the Oak Sage giving Sammy 1866 life, and her merc 2895. Sammy has 455 mana and plenty of regen with her crafted gloves, boots and belt. Let's get it on.

*nervous tension*

The battle is begun. Scanned the three quickly, hitting them each with Life Tap:
Korlic - CI, spectral hit, CE
Talic - FI, teleport, extra fast
Madawc - LI, extra strong, blessed aim
OMG this is the easiest set of mods I've ever seen!! :) Quite doable with a bit of strategic postioning.

I ran back to lure one or two my way. Korlic and Talic took the bait, and my merc & shadow stayed engaged. The OS was whacked a few times, but I was able to recast behind me & it stayed put. Madawc played a rear postion (mind blast kept him there) and he continually pelted my shadow. LS traps wore down the two ancients, and Life Tap kept all alive.

8 minutes later, Korlic fell. 3 more minutes, Talic. Then my party engaged Madawc. I dropped Life Tap, and picked up Lower Resist. Madawc was pushed to the corner, and with his resistance broken, he was a sitting duck. LR -> 5 LS -> LR -> 5 LS until dead. Total battle took 25 minutes. I didn't have to recast my shadow even once.

This two-element build is able to solo the game and kill every monster encountered. Maybe not the fastest, but certainly one of the most versatile builds I've played.

I really enjoyed playing this character. The restrictions made it a difficult, sometimes tedious, but rewarding experience.

I will not go to deep with this one because of my other Guardian Thread, although im really happy with both chars, they were hard to play but very rewarding. Progress was pretty straightforward, started as Fire and at lvl ~30 switched to Lightning.

I proudly present to you Guardian Sula.

She is my very first Guardian, played untwinked and without any reruns. Her companion was Gorm the barbarian.

Lightning traps really rock. There wasn't a single NDE in hell, not even a close call. Hell ancients took a while, my first attempt ran out of mana and I had to restart. The next three or four attempts got me ancients with bad mods, I didn't check further after either my merc died really fast or I got amp'ed. The next one didn't have anything obviously bad, although Gorm fell before the first of the three went down. I continued nevertheless, and the last standing was Madawc (no surprise, since he's LI). The shadow pinned him against the border or some pillar, but couldn't really harm him. Fire blast didn't do any good, too. Lower resist broke his immunity, and the traps did their slow work. Took about 10 minutes or such, but it wasn't dangerous.

The barb merc wasn't good, I have to say that (sorry, Gorm...). He needs by far better equip I guess, but I didn't find anything better and wasn't too fond of shop running (some cruel sword of eviscaration or such would be nice, socketed with life leech ability), and his armour could be better, too. But I got used to him and there was no need to switch.

Let me present to you MP_Creed. My first MP guardian. She was a reaction to a different almost-first-MP-guardian a hunter druid that died to the final enemy, hell Baal himself. o_O So GoldTru and i restarted with different chars. The idea was to play them together. Progress stalled early on since she claimed to have this thing called 'a life'. I'm not buying it.

Anyhow, since MP scene was a bit slow i continued MP_Creed (a trapper btw) solo. Normal and NM were quickly disposed of. Since i hardly have any MP chars (separate chars from my 'real SP' chars) she was untwinked, with the exception of an insight stick for the merc.

Upon entering hell i had a more difficult time. Untwinked meant fragile merc, fairly low resists and anything LI gave me a hard time. So i decided to try and push through till hell Meph in hopes of getting some gear upgrades there. Took some effort and sometimes careful playing, but i got through. Did some runs. Didn't find anything really good, but i did get some gear upgrades for both myself and the merc.

After that i was on a D2 break for some months (playing Dragon Age Inquisition). Upon my return i picked her back up. This time Pyro came to the rescue. He had a riftadin that was in act 2 (i had to start act 4). Played with him through acts 2 and 3 so we could continue together from there. Went like a charm. He bumped the playersetting up to 5, but with him as a tank, his conviction aura and the barb he brought for BO things were really smooth. Safe because of tank and BO. And didn't even notice i was untwinked because of the aura that boosted my damage considerably. It was like having my own, slightly smarter, act 2 merc! :p We layed waste to our enemies in act 4. Hellforge was a complete dudd. Dropped me a hel rune. :(

In act 5 Pyro's paladin was once again ready to party. We also got joined by GoldTru who used a sorc. Conviction aura with two big elemental damage dealers. Carnage ensured. Getting out of the gates i almost had a RIP moment though. Pyro was still adjusting his chain mail or something so GT and i went out without BO or tank and there were some spearcats throwing around lots of javelins. That took away life a lot faster then i thought it would. Good thing i checked my life bulb in time. Anyhow, after we were all there it was smooth sailing again. Got some gloams when rescuing Anya, but they never became a real threat. If there were more then a few CoS shut them down.
We did get a lot of witches throwing around magic balls of death. Which was especially tough on Pyro as he charged in. I think he had a couple of times where his life went down more then you'd like to see on a HC char. Ancients were a joke. After that more witches and other kinds of bad spawns. Baal fell easily. Guardianed at lvl 82.

After that we did some Baalruns. Char is now lvl 84. With all of this i can safely say this is one unlucky char. We got bad spawns of enemies pretty much all the time. And not a single good drop from either Baal or someone else.

Stephan and me decided to make two new HC chars. That was a few months back. We wanted to go untwinked, giving some challenge since Meteorb and Trapper aren’t really original builds. Like always, mana was a problem but when you’re 30+ it gets whole lot easier. Baal was killed and we proceeded to NM.

Nightmare
Untwinked became boring soon, so I brought some items :p. We were unstoppable, NM was easy as always. Fiore’s Orb was cleaning out whole screens, so I didn’t do much except throw a few Mindblasts when some Extra Fast boss packs show up. After killing NM Baal, came a long break (~month).

Hell
Finally we stepped in Hell, but realised it isn’t the same old feeling. I was getting a bit bored of the game and Stephan didn’t care. We decided to end it right in the Blood Moor, yup, a PvP match in HC (it sounded like a good idea at that time :scratchchin:). Too bad I forgot to mention to Stephan Trapper usually has an edge over sorceress. Readout:

After that I put the HC stashes aside and started SC again. Few weeks ago, I found them again. And decided to Guardian this char. Even though I gathered lots of good gear from Mephisto in MFO, I decided to Guardian her with the one she already had (Merc needed and upgrade though).

Act 1 was too easy, not many LI’s so it was over in less than an hour. A2 was a bit tougher, desert had lots of LI’s but monsters had relatively low life so Fire Blast was really shining out there. I had lots of luck in A3, easily finding Spider Cavern, shortcut to Flayer Jungle and Flayer Dungeon, Mephisto was a bit harder to kill though, as my merc had his light res in the 50’s. Act 4 is all about Chaos Sanctuary as always, OK’s, Venom Lords with high life and LI Storm Casters. Had an NDE with Infector of Souls, but casting CoS slowed them down.

Act 5 was played today, everything was easy except Ancients, they ignored my merc and attacked only me (that's one annoying bug). I was running in circles, casting one or two traps then running again, until only LI Madawc was left. FB + merc took care of him in a few minutes. As soon as I entered WSK, a surprise was waiting for me. This guy coupled with Might Enchanted Assailants. Somehow I managed to TP back to town, equip myself with Full Juvies and try again. Casted CoS, threw a few MBs and ran to safety. Then I killed them in small groups. ToD and Baal killed in a matter of minutes , and there we are:

Mp'ed with Jaedhann til' act 5 in Normal, she basically fried everything to hell. She was probably faster than a lightning trapper in these two difficulties.

Act 1
Merc got equipped with Eth Bonehew, Eth Duriel's and Eth Rockstopper, needless to say he was owning everything Fire Immune while my traps were still in pretty good shape, very rarely I had to use BF. Things changed in Catacombs lvl 2. Spiders and flayers (both FI), there was one situation where I had to resurrect my merc twice and constantly use MB + CoS (cursed boss pack of spiders and extra fast of flayers). Andy fell to the mighty power of WoF.

Things started to slow down. Sewers lvl 2 spawned with Sand Raiders and Skeleton Warriors, Bone Archers weren't really a walk in the park either. Radament was killed and next big obstacle was Tal Rasha's Tomb. This bosspack was constantly reviving a whole army of FI skeletons, and kept cursing my merc (causing more deaths), so I had to fall back and take the skellies out one by one. Duriel also was a pain, some more %DR would've helped I'm sure.


Act 3
As easy as pie. There really aren't any Fire Immunes in this act (except the Shamans and Fire Spiders?) so it was done quite fast (merc handled The Council)


Act 4
All about Chaos Sanctuary. Merc was resurrected ~20 times, not only because of IM but Amplify was killing him too. Tactics was to cast CoS, go around the Doom Knights, kill the OK's and then deal with the rest. Diablo died to WoF.


Act 5
Only had problems with Ancients. Thing is I was only lvl 77 and needed one more lvl for 78, so I decided to put on p3 and clear Icy Cellar which took me only to half lvl. So I went to kill Nihlathak and clear all the Halls, all that took about 1 hour (for one lvl! :(). So I proceeded to the Ancients, once fierce warriors with honor and now a big pain in the ***. Fight took half an hour, leaving FI/Stone Skin Talic last, he killed my merc so only me and my shadow were left. 500 Venom damage ftw! Parked the last wave because I doubt my merc could handle it and so I killed Baal. The End.

Impressions
She's different than any character I've ever played with. Fire traps have a few virtues but many more flaws than Lightning traps. They have a big area of effect, small mana cost, bigger minimum damage and faster shooting. However the damage is small, mana cost is low but you have to constantly summon them cause they shoot only 5 times before expiring, DS isn't synergized so the radius is quite low. Was fun though, but I wouldn't do it again :crazyeyes:

This is one of my unfinished build before I quit. She was about to fight ancients. Since I'm now officially have no life, I just happen to pick her up, in order to "kill" her. Which means doesn't matter what I got for ancients, I will fight them.

To my surprise, ancients weren't too bad, it took time but not that hard even they have one of the worst combo - cursed, HF, SH, just to name a few (didn't have time and effort to check all their mods).

Her skill is sort of standard BF sin setup.

Trap tree: 20 DS, 1 BF, all pre-req
Shadow tree: 20 venom, SM and fade, every thing else 1 point
MA tree: absolutely zero.

Very funny char to play untwinked and without runewords, challenging but the Assassin has many tricks up her sleeve to deal with basically anything. I do prefer the kick/trapsin hybrid since I like to get into the fray.

Some close calls, I almost got stuck in a corner with a boss group of death lords in WSK level 3.

The ancients took me 8 rolls to get one where Madwc was not lightning enchanted and thus could have his lightning immunity broken with lower resist charges. Also we looked out for avoidin cursed, might and/or conviction aswell.

Noteable finds: The merc weapon was awesome, perfect base for honor or obedience, why did I make this stupid rule of doing no runewords?!?! Um from nightmare hellforge, Pul from Hell hellforge (did not use them), Nat's boots and armor (why do the set not include partial bonuses?!), bought a jewelrs full plate mail of the whale (4 socks, 85 life).

Level up: as a Wake of Fire trapsin until nightmare Act IV. It took me a while to get used of having to kill stuff with fire blast since my merc was ... not so strong ... in particular Travincal and Chaos sanctuary was really challenging for me! Not the storm casters, but the venom lords with their high base lightning damage and life. For gaining levels, rejuvs and gold, we did a few (like 40) ancient tunnel runs. This was also good practice area for using fire blast on the skeleton mages there.

Next HC project will be a Holy Bolt / blessed hammer Paladin, untwinked, and he will only use items that are "locally produced" (bought at vendors, gambled, crafted and quest rewards). HIPSTERDIN it is! Charms and socketable items are allowed though :)

Yes. A fire trapper. This is definitely the most interesting character i've ever built, and a very powerful one. The only monsterpack i didn't try to kill was Hell Lister & co (m.b cause he was a bit Extra Fast and a bit Cursed?..:rolleyes: )
Throughout the game my main killing skill was Wake of Fire. Yes, the damage under 500 seems to be puny and low. but i placed 5 WoFs and watched a pack of 5 traps dealing 2k fire damage per shot within a huge area of effect. This was quite enough to kill pretty much any pack of non-fire immunes in Hell (especially in combination with MB stunlock).
Wake of Inferno. I am not sure if this skill is bugged or not, but i used this trap on act bosses and single monsters with fat lifebulb. And it was extremely effective!!
Charged Bolt Sentry. This was my back-up skill against fire-immunes and monsters with very high fire res. The damage seems to be low, but a pack of this traps emits 25 bolts with listed damage per shot thus hitting almost as hard as a good CB-Sorcie.
Death Sentry. I used this skill mainly to support CB Sentries with additional damage on FI's and to get rid of corpses.

Why no shadow? i just didn't want her to replace my high-level traps with her crude ones.

The only problem I had was when I was doing hell ancients, but who doesnt have a hard time with them? I found out about the CoS bug when fighting ancients and figured out that I couldnt use it w/o my computer crashing(Thanks Orphan and JME). Now I have a great char to mf with and I will hopefully have another Guardian up in no time!

PART 1 - SKILLS :


a) Blade sentinel :
It increases timer of sentinel which I felt was very much required.Especially as I have only 1 plus skill (coming from highlords), I had to max it.

b) Blade Fury : Can you get away without this. Probably yes, but this is an excellent skill to have along with Sentinel, as it takes down one or two monsters left after sentinel's damage very soon.

c)Death Sentry : Can you get away without this? Absolutely. DS is not required, but it speeds u any assassin crazily.

d) Venom and Fade : Dunno what to do with the rest. So dumped here. But, isn't venom also cropped down by 3/8 for sentinel. Yup it is, I maxed it for BF(Also I hate Shadow Master)

e) Fire Blast : One xtra shot for DS.

f) Why not some trap support ?
Then this is no more Sentinel sin :p.

g) Why not max Shadow Master?
I hate her.

PART 2 - GEAR :

This sin imho cannot remove few parts of her equipment :

1) eth Obedience polearm :
First and foremost advantage is its damage. My stick(superior eth cryptic axe) had a damage of 237-1091.Secondly, AR is very essential for BF and BS(even though it is not displayed). Obedience has ctc enchant(lvl 21) and not to forget it is on kill and has a very healthy 50% chance.Also it has -25% target defense.So all ar problems are solved.Obedience also has 20-30 all resis, which is excellent as we don't use a shield.40 % CB is godly for BF(boss killing). Defense and stat bonuses don't hurt either. All in all this is the best weapon for this build.

2) Fortitude :
Disadvantage of Sentnel is its low damage and this takes care of it.

3) Highlords Wrath :
We don't need the IAS or the plus skill, it is the DS we are after. DS works with Sentinel.

Other gear I've used is obvious , gores for DS and FRW; Ravenfrost for some more ar.Rest of the gear for stat adjustments.
I haven't used any leech, but it is nice to have leech (for BF). Cos and MB took care of all dangers.

PART 3- EXPERIENCES :

--> Until lvl 59 Sentinel was so bad that I haven't used it at all. At lvl 59, obedience and fort can be equipped, all of a sudden NM became so easy :).

-->Hell was played at p1 throughout. Sentinel and Death Sentry took care of crowds as BF cleared single monsters and bosses. I switched Natalya's helm to Black horn's face while playing act bosses and equipped merc with Blackhorn's face + Reaper's.

--> Decrep from reaper's was very useful as it was the only backup for PI's. As I messed up with stat placement, I could not equip bararnar's or gimmershreds. Also decrep helped taking down act bosses and ancients.

--> While playing ancients, I used BoS, spammed Sentinels as I ran around in circles until decrep triggered. Then MBed them a little and took them down with BF.It still took some time to get a safe spawn and to keep my merc alive.

-->Minion's didn't create any scene , thanks to death dentry. Gloams spawned but it wasn't a prob as both me and my merc were wearing black horn's face and had lit resis more than 75.

-> NDE's...a lot, we'll have to get close to the monsters for more efficient sentinel.(Sentinel gets very fast when use from close range), naturally many close calls,CoS/MB are really a god send for this build.

Was a very very fun build and ofc a pretty strong build.Wanna see soneone try this with a pride merc :).

Re-installed 1.12 and planning to start with a blizz sorc(no chance for a meteorb respec to blizz this time :) )

Phusis was part of the Envious of the Green and Gold tournament. For those who are not familiar with it, the basic restrictions are as follows.
(1) Single pass (no re-running areas), untwinked play.
(2) All gear must consist of the set and unique items the character and mercenary find on their journey.
(3) Sockets may only be filled with emeralds, topazes, green jewels, or gold jewels.

She began her life with the intent to become a Phoenix Strike assassin, but in Act3 NM, a Fleshrender dropped, followed shortly thereafter by a Cleglaw's Pincers (for a combined crushing blow, open wounds, prevent monster heal, slow, and knockback). I took it as a sign and switched to a "dark assassin" build -- blade fury, venom, fade, and cloak of shadows being the core. That was much more satisfying, although jiansonz considered it a bummer that I abandoned his favorite build.

The second major change came when I found Doombringer, enabling me to switch from a Desert Mercenary to a beefy Barbarian.

Thoughts

She was extremely safe: Cloak of Shadows is much more powerful than I had realized (I found lvl3 CoS to be about right for me). There were no terribly dangerous situations once she took that build; she played precisely as I wanted her to play. I was disappointed with my Desert Mercenary, but quite impressed by my eventual Barbarian.

Thanks to all the folks in the tourney, especially jiansonz, and to Nagi and Frozzz for always ranting and raving about the greatness of assassins.

That's guardian #2! Who knows what will be next?

Guardian Inpulsa is guardian #25, and my second lightning trapsin, my first being part of a MP group. She utilises lightning sentry but I plan to make a charged bolt sentry variant in the future. I love charged bolt so much. Her name is a nod to my favourite Path of Exile item, Inpulsa's Broken Heart, which my arc witches tend to enjoy. She completed the game at P8/P8/P5, but could certainly have done P8 for hell. She is after all equipped with Infinity on the mercenary. She had no NDEs at all which was nice, and I never actually used cloak of shadows. She also unfortunately had no great drops, the best being the Titans which were non-eth and 9ll, but mediocre ED, 179% I think.

I think I'd like to play more of an untwinked style for a while, so I'm looking at perhaps a tournament character - S/U most likely. She has no real endgame plans but potentially she will get a batch in the upcoming Off the Beaten path tournament, we shall see.

Well, this character is no. 5 of 7 towards my sept, only Necro and druid to go. This was actually my first serious HC character, but I stopped after my old computer crashed and I was put back a couple of acts. She is almost a single pass character too, I think I did some Countess and Eldritch runs in normal, apart from that she just played through the game.

She was actually a pretty solid character, I gave her amazing resists, especially lightning, under conviction in WSK 3 Hell her resists were something like 40/75/75/xx 😃

I had one massive NDE, I was so lucky to come out alive it was unbelieveable. In the Canyon of the Magi I encountered 2 packs of Slingers, one of which was cursed, and one had Fanatacism and the other might. I got hit by 2 javelins which put me to about a quarter health, and another one would have finished me, but I levelled and then got hit again back down to half health :shocked: Probably the luckiest break I've ever had....

She had some problems killing some enemies, anything light immune with high fire res or vice versa was a nightmare. I had no decent physical damage, my merc used a Partizan Insight when I had him alive, he was practically useless though. At the Ancients he got chopped down in seconds but I carried on. Two Ancients went down relatively easily, but the Thrower was LI and had Spectral hit so he had massive fire res too, but I picked up a Bone Knife of Lower Resist in the Hell CS which was probably my best find in the whole game - I don't think I could have completed it without it, it was invaluable for most of Act 5 and especially Baal and his minions.

Anyways, enough rambling:

Introducing my first Guardian in over a year, and my eleventh in total, Leitha the BF Sin :jig:

This one was an absolute blast to play, she was very fun and has everything a HC character needs to survive. Needless to say, she's a little bit twinked, but it has been a nice change of pace after playing with my Barb in the Ancients Tournament.

She was exceptionally safe, she has just over 1k life but was never really threatened, and only had to use 1 big purple for the whole of Hell on herself (the merc on the other hand, was a different story....)

I've seen a lot of bad reviews of the Shadow Master, but to me, she was invaluable. An extra tank is always helpful, but one who throws down Death Sentries and converts enemies for you is awesome. Admitted, the conversions can be badly timed and slow you down on occasion, but on the whole, a couple of enemies at the front of a pack turning to fight their own and absorbing all their damage is a great help.

I had one problem in Hell, and that was the Ancients, it took me a long while to gain control of them, I had to keep switching my weapons to make them target my merc and draw them away from each other. I eventually brought down Madawc without too much trouble, and Talic pretty much ignored me but Korlic was a pain in the ***. I stupidly ran into the bottom right corner and he jumped at me and blocked me into the corner. I had to tank him for about a minute while my merc poked away at him, it wouldn't have been too bad but he was FE and I was concerned he would get me with his death explosion. Thankfully, it wasn't NM and he died with a bit of a whimper leaving me to stroll through the rest of the game.

Introducing my 13th Guardian, Megalodon, Trap Assassin. This is actually my second trapper Guardian, my first was untwinked, and if you care to check that thread out you'll notice a couple of subtle changes, especially in the gear department :p

This character is the result of many, many hours in LK, and also a very generous donation from RIP :worship:

I won't go into detail about how to or how I played her, suffice to say I dropped the Shadow and went for pure damage, using CoS and MB for all my crowd control needs. I played on players8 for all of Normal and NM, and players3 for Hell as p1 would have been a bit tedious. She was twinked from the start but got a nice upgrade after she completed NM (and escaped any possibility of been done in by the FE bug).

The main objective for this character is to be a Baal runner, as I've never been able to make one in HC, only a Blizzballer who died soon after reaching Guardian status, hopefully this one will fair better :)

Merriam is my level 88 lightning trapsin. I was sitting at work one day studying when I decided to install Diablo II again. I decided to take a break for the next few weeks and spend my surplus time wasting away like I did when I was 12. Playing Diablo.

When your merc is swinging an insight partizan, it quickly becomes an issue. So, I ran pits about 500 times. I didn't find a new merc weapon, but I did come up with an IK armor, Mav armor, two tals belts, a 15/15 flail (that will eventually be used for cta), an eth wyrmhide I used the socket recipe on for treachery, and a few other items.

So, I ran through hell as quickly as possible. Nothing of note from the forges. When I go to Act 5, I ran E/S/P for a few hundred runs. I came away with a shako, three Um's, a Mal, and a Cham. Actually, two of the Um's were from Pits. Anyway, I ran pits until level **. Nothing really dropped for me from the last 50 or so runs. I did notice that my girl is extremely weak past players 1.

I attempted the ancients about 10 times. Three times my client crashed. I feared there was an error with the installation that was affecting Hell ancients. That was about a week ago. I figured I'd give it a go again this morning and I successfully killed the ancients with little hassle about an hour ago. I cautiously made my way through the WSK and into the throne room. There weren't any major boss packs that I really had to worry about. Very few souls, and no dolls thankfully. Baal was dispatched quickly but failed to yield me anything of value.

Since this is the only character I'm really interested in playing right now, I'll probably get her up to clvl 94 and shop for claws again. Currently, she is a sword/shield trapsin. However, the ultimate goal is for her to use some nice +2/+3ls claws. I've shopped anya for a solid six hours in total so far. I should probably just wait until 94 to improve my chances.

The Cham will be used for something down the line, but I'm not quite sure what. My next walkthrough with a character will hopefully be more in-depth, but I'm at work and my patience is thin today.

Also, Act 3 Hell was literally Hell. So many lightning immunes and I'm just now remembering how terrible the merc AI is.

My next character I'll be running through will be an amazon. She is inspired from Nightfish's WSK runner. Right now she's sitting at level 18, provided there is nothing that grasps my attention at work, she'll be a Guardian in a few weeks.

OT: Just finished Last of Us for PS4. Wow. It was a great game. I haven't gamed on a console since I was young with nintendo/SNES/N64. I bought Surge off Amazon and sold a few cases for a big profit locally. I used that cash for the PS4 so I didn't feel bad about spending money on something I didn't really need.

OT#2: I really wish Blizzard would have released an updated resolution for Diablo. I've got 3 Dell U2412m's and if I were to play D2 at home, it would look rather pitiful on those beautiful screens.

Well, I had been taking screenshots this whole time. I'm not sure where they are located though. I've got my Diablo II folder located in C:\Program Files, and not C:\Program Files(x86). I'm guessing that's the issue. I know GoMule had some issues with writing data when it was in the (x86). Oh well. I'll figure it out another day.

Future plans for this girl are just to run pits until she gets outfitted with proper WSK gear. Maybe I'll get lucky and find the runes for Enigma and Infinity. I'm not planning on it anytime soon though.
