Map Hack

That's another risk you take when you use maphack. Hackers put a type of back door virus in the program so when you use it a specific amount of times, the program gives the hacker enough info to get into your comp and possibly retrieve your password. At least that's what I've heard. A lot of people who complain that their account got "hacked" probably fell victim to this.

What do you mean "legit"? The whole point of any hack is to avoid legitimacy. Why would you ever trust something or someone who proudly sponsors cheating? That would be ridiculous.

How does someone who's never used maphack before know the difference between a "legit" site to download from and one that is not? A lot of people fell victim to those "item dropping" websites in 1.09 because they all looked safe to download from. And how is a site "legit" if it promotes hacks?

I have always been of the oponion that once in a lifetime, everybody should have the right to shoot a single person without getting punished.

So mods are now banning on instinct and guesswork, and tactfully too. Was the PWNDTD really necessary? I do think you are probably right about this case, but I think it might be setting a dangerous precedent to just ban anyone you suspect of using maphack, as it isn't really against the rules to post if you use it, just to trade if you use it. And maybe that's best for the trade mods to deal with?

Actually he was banned for offeing a CD Key hack in another thread in this forum. And posted his email address so tha anyone interested could email him and get the hack.

I've never been to keen on aragorn's conduct as a mod, not for banning, but for the pwndtd I thought was rather inappropriate

That, through the requirement of as many victims, means that everyone will also be shot once in a lifetime (the only one escaping would be an ammount equal to the one that increases overall population). And if it happens before people get children, well, that won't happen either

actually you can....its just such a pain filling out all the paperwork that most people just give up
