Lawbringer (sanctuary) best for Summoner?

Usually, I go for might merc + pride (concentration), then I wield a beast (fanatacism) to give my skellies some wicked damage.

But I've been thinking, would it be better to use Lawbringer (sanctuary)? On Hell difficulty, by far the slowest killing (even with amp/decrep) is undeads with their inherent 50% physical resist. And, undeads are the physical immunes. Sanctuary IGNORES physical resist, and IGNORES physical immunity.

I'm not sure how amp factors in when physical immunity/resist is ignored, but I'm sure it helps. I think this would greatly speed up skelly killing, what do you guys think?

The "Ignores Physical Resists" thing only applies to whoever is rocking the Sanctuary Aura- in this case, your Barb. What that means is that your Barb will deal full damage to physical resistant undead, but your skeletons will still deal just as much damage as they were before. In other words, I don't think you'll be happy with Sanctuary as a means of dispatching highly resistant undead.

50% physical resist undead shouldn't be a problem, anyway, as long as you're Amping them (which reduces them to -50% physical resistance). The real trouble should be the Physical Immune monsters (only some of which are undead), which retain very high resistance (80+%) even after Amplify Damage.

*cough* CE *cough* mages *cough* no need for any more dmg against undead than that, and yeah, I have to agree with SSoG, I dont think that sacrificing might and concentration (pride is overrated though) is worth it in order to get a low dmg wep (doesnt have ed%) that will only help your barb who now does low dmg due to lack of auras and a low dmg wep....

Hey, I didn't want to choke up another thread but I did think of something interesting.

Hwannin's armor has a 10% chance to cast lvl3 Static Field....so is this a perfect and beatiful Iron Golem or what? :D Although I did hear a nasty rumor that SF reduces exp gain? Sounds stupid, but I'd hate to be jipped.

Anybody have thoughts on this? I realize it has no CB, but it would help especially with Conviction aura going also. Hmm tasty yes?

Don't know where you heard that one, but it's utter bull. It's about as crazy as the "meteor reduced exp gain" rumour, which is also more lies.

That sounds like a pretty neat idea for an IG. Good stuff!

I figured it was BS. I had already filed it away under the whole "meteor/hammers/nova/summons reduce exp" junk folder in my subconcious :p Well Imma make this one with SF and see how it works. :)

what is the attack speed of an iron golem..15 fpa ?? The idea of using Hwamin SF is nice, but it may take a while to turn it on.

EDit: Oups it is "CTC when struck" so might be on more often

Actually, I have yet to see it activate. Of course it is entirely plausable that he hasn't gotten hitten enough (at all?) to have it activate. Does anybody know if maybe SF is non-functional on an Iron Golem?

Oh and I do usually use CB weapons: Bonemaul, WIndhammer, Ribcracker, Islestrike, IK Maul, and so on. I thought this would benefit my whole army a LOT...assuming it is actually passed on to the Iron G. I think I may just get a low-lvl char to attack my Iron G and see if it ever friggin activates. Are there some properties that are not assimilated? Well, all I really care about is the static field :D

Oh, and it is true that CB is affected by Phys res/immunities, but that's what Amp Damage is for.

The ctc Static from Hwanins should definitely work with IG.

Also, if Amp can break the physical immunity, adding CB into the mix wouldn't really speed things up against standard monsters.

Might be because of the rest of your army?
My golem rarely dies unless a monster actually targets him so in that case I think CB > Static, just because the proc for static isnt' being used.

I'm starting to sway that direction, Viktri.

Theoretically it sounds SUPER, especially since (as stated by SSog) CB doesn't really matter against regular monsters; it just aids in baal and uber in my case. This way it would speed up my mf/key butt-kickin runs. But it's no good if no activate...but I'm patient, and just really want to see the slaughter caused by conviction/Amp/Statif Field :D
