Damn, why does it sound familiar? :laugh:Well, it's 10:40 PST, and the Bnet status forum isn't even updated, so I'm not holding my breath on 11:00.
If they are anything like the company I work for, they will require a 3 hour meeting to discuss who is going to do what and when. They will have managers in the meeting asking how much the reset will cost and what the return on investment will be. They will have techs in the meeting who will wonder why they are having a meeting and not just doing what they need to do. Then after the meeting, some other crisis will emerge that requires the techs in charge of the reset to drop what they are doing and attend the new crisis. Then another meeting will be required to determine whether or not they should reschedule the reset. Then they will decide that they made a promise to their customers, so even though they aren't ready, they will go ahead with the reset anyway. By this time, half the team of techs will have gone home for the day, so the one tech and 5 managers who were in the meeting will be left to handle the reset which will now take twice as long as previously suggested.
That's how my company would handle it.

Actually, a sound business decision does mean it is the right decision financially. I don't know if you realize this, but the main purpose of a business is to increase revenue. If you're looking for morally correct decisions about video games....I'm afraid I can't help other than to recomend a psychologist.
I wonder what they are doing right now.... prob eating ice cream and playing WoW and forgot about the reset
Now, can we move along here? We obviously have opposite worldviews on the ways things should be done. And that's great. I make a lot of money IRL off your kind.
Sorry, you're dead wrong. The main purpose of a business is to grow. Increasing revenue is a long-term strategy. Amazon.com deliberately lost millions for 5 straight years in order to secure their customer base for the next 20.
Alan Ladd Jr., the studio executive who bought Star Wars for 20th Century Fox, the only man willing to take a chance on Lucas's baby... was FIRED (or resigned) for it. Why? Because part of the deal was that Lucas kept all the merchandising... completely normal at the time, because they didn't have toy tie-ins. But rather than focus on the record profits the company made, they were infuriated at the new market that was broken into and the money "left on the table". Ladd made the right financial decision but not a sound one, and now it is standard Hollywood procedure to lock up all markets, known or unknown.
I believe Blizz f'd up. They cut the Diablo budget, alienated the creative team, alienated their customer base, and created their own competition... and abandoned that segment of the market. Right financial decision? Sure. Sound financial decision? No.
Morally speaking? When I say "moral" I refer to the will to do the right thing by the customer. And you bet your *** I'm going to go to bat for the right thing in every aspect of my life... whether it's buying a video game, TRADING in a video game, or discussing a video game. By your rationale I should have no problem stealing/scamming/duping because it's pixels.
Now, can we move along here? We obviously have opposite worldviews on the ways things should be done. And that's great. I make a lot of money IRL off your kind.
Actually it is a beautiful day in SoCal today. And the 3 techs still assigned to their poor last-franchise game are probably enjoying that BBQ and wondering...
"What the hell do I have to do to get promoted to SC2?"
Sunny skies and 70F in Irvine. My guess they are having a BBQ out in the parking lot. Oh, and some of them are inside closing out their eBay auctions for all their ladder gear before the reset.
And you guys thought Blizzard didn't have recurring revenue from D2![]()
They are running more than half the eBay stores selling items. Judging by the other thread in this forum on that topic, I'd say they are making more per month on those sales than WoW's monthly fee.
maybe the red button is jammed.....its been a while anyone has touched it..
