Durf, you bastard, I blame you for this!

Well...yeah, I had defeated NM meph, and was running him for some items(got a homunuculus which is sitting in my hardcore stash!)
I was about to go to sleep(3:45am here) and I decided to do one last /p1 run before bed.
Ran into what i think was(I didn't pay attention, I guess I underestimated /p1) Fire Enchanted Maffer Dragonhand, and he killed me for killing him :laugh: .
So...
To sum up:
- This was my first HC experience, and I thought it was great! I was worried before about the whole "losing hours of working on a char", but I think it is what keeps the game interesting, that you can (and probably will!) actually LOSE!.
- This was also my first javazon, and it was really powerful, even with crap for equipment and no synergies, only CS and LF. Cows on normal dropped like crazy.
- I had made a "peace" linked mail which I was using. The valk from the CtC is INCREDIBLY buggy!!! It would disappear usually 20 or 30 seconds after casted! And it would die to the weakest attack sometimes!
- I acquired like 50 grail items, including WWS! . They should be useful for future HC chars!
I wasn't using nothing noticeable as equipment...
- "peace" linked mail
- "lore" war hat
- Sander's Boots
- Crafted hit power gloves
- Crafted blood belt
- Rare jav with +2 jav skills and 96%ED
- Rare defender with 15% more block and resists
- Crafted safety jav(sucked) and hsarus shield as secondary
- Nagelring, and a rare ring
- Ammy with 29%mf and cold resist
I had a REALLY COOL rare ammy in my cube with +12 STR and tons of resists...
Nice tourney Kool, :thumbsup: to you....but I think I'll be trying my luck on the "money-hating barbarians" now! . I probably won't get as lucky with the rolls as I did with this char, and the other tourney seems interesting.
I do have a question...it isn't legal to remove items from a dead char with ATMA, right?

Finally an update from Khan. :grin:

Started out Act IV on /players 6 and hasn't changed yet, gained just about a level and a half and now creeping towards level 31. Got my first level of fire golem finally and my golem mastery is now level 19 from my wand. Clay golem is best used against one boss of course with the slow and when theres a lot of annoying monsters packed up I just spam fire golem and mana pots until most is clear. Clay golem is past 2k life and tanks very nicely, merc hasn't died yet. Diablo is gonna be very hard and only my golem + merc can kill him because I have nothing that hurts anything. If I can survive big D somehow I will be able to make it pretty far I assume. No summon resist hurts but maybe lots of life and spamming mana pots can do it we will c.

Finally an update from Khan. :grin:

Started out Act IV on /players 6 and hasn't changed yet, gained just about a level and a half and now creeping towards level 31. Got my first level of fire golem finally and my golem mastery is now level 19 from my wand. Clay golem is best used against one boss of course with the slow and when theres a lot of annoying monsters packed up I just spam fire golem and mana pots until most is clear. Clay golem is past 2k life and tanks very nicely, merc hasn't died yet. Diablo is gonna be very hard and only my golem + merc can kill him because I have nothing that hurts anything. If I can survive big D somehow I will be able to make it pretty far I assume. No summon resist hurts but maybe lots of life and spamming mana pots can do it we will c.

The slug has fallen. I'm glad my merc does a lot of damage so far since I do not. Its hard with not having access to higher damage weapons. I do kill stuff alone but about 1 to every 3 my moron does. Heres hoping that venom works well.

Pirana, Jemali and the Valkarie finished off Duriel easily. Duriel concentrated on the Valkarie and could not damage her. I don't believe that the Valkarie did much damage to him either, but Jemali with his ethereal "Tannr Gorerod" and Pirana with her maxed out immolation arrow did the trick in just a few minutes. An angelic halo was dropped along with several useless rares.

I embued a mesh belt to improve my equipment. It was nothing real special, but has some fire resistance, +5 damage to attacker and a good defense (and, 4 tiers of storage!).

Pirana has arrived at the docks of Kurast with a confident air about her. Or is that the stink of the swamp?

I've managed to restore light to the desert in NM, and am proceeding well. A Sol finally dropped in the desert (incidentally within a minute of my second Amn, and about 3 minutes before a Shael, but it ended there), so I was able to upgrade Roy's General's Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do from a Flail to a Knout. Hoorah for a little extra damage.

Next it's through the palace towards the Arcane Sanctuary.

Pirana Moves into Lower Kurast

Pirana has had a lot of close calls on her way from the docks of Kurast to Kurast proper. Those flayers and their little brothers are murder. But Pirana prevailed due to a willingness to run when things got too hot. Now she is in lower Kurast and hoping to clear the area of gems and runes.

All was going reasonably well, until I was swarmed in Tal Rasha's Tomb by 2 boss packs of lightning beetles. I tried to escape but they were too quick, and once the Merc fell, it was only a matter of time until the potions ran out...gotta hate that hopeless feeling when you know many hours work is falling away before your eyes.

He was starting to get out of his depth somewhat, some boss packs were taking more than half his life, which in Act II NM is not a good sign, but was still progressing reasonably quickly on players 8. He was good fun though.

wow lots of high level deaths right in a row...:shocked:

I finally have made some progress and defeated diablo. This character was much better vs diablo than I thought because just my merc did all the killing.

I started off at the RoF WP on /p 8 and once I reached the chaos sanctuary I was close to level 31 so I put it on /p 1 and killing speed was increased like crazy. Killing is slow due to just my golem tanking and merc killing but my only other killing method which is awesome on /p 1 for groups is spamming fire golem and mana pots. Once level 31 my fire golem has reached level 2 and every level his damage goes up lots. All the seals were simple using fire golem spams on the top and right seals (harder ones). Merc had no deaths up to Big D, and now my toughest challenge yet... me and my merc both have 75 fire and lightning resist so I have a chance. Clay golem slowing him 51% with a merc cold attack and iron maiden... it was much easier than I thought. No problems until about half way where he took out my merc and I got him back about 4 times. No NDE and pretty easy, he dropped nothing I could use but he did drop a very sweet waraxe:

dang this is a freakin awesome idea! I've been trying to find something new to do with this game and this sounds like it will keep me busy for quite some time. It's so hard for me to try and decide what character to make or what weapons etc. I have one quick question and I don't know if it has been addressed yet because there were 52 pages that I didn't want to go through, sorry, but if we take a mulligan and prefer the first set of whatever that was drawn for us, can we keep the first or do we have to take the new mulligan set? As for my char, I think I'll go with a.... ohh.... druid. 3 for shapeshifting and 2 for summon. for my weap I'll use mauls. thanks for this crazy fun game kool69!
