Item Find Thread (12/4)

Reborn2k's and other's finds were making me sick so I took out my frustrations on Pindle and Meph and ran them solely on p1 for speed and I was rewarded - especially from Meph. Finally.

Woooo! My first 1.10 SoJ! Thought it would be another Manald etc .... boy, was I surprised when I id'ed this from Meph.

The Stone of Jordan
Ring
Required Level: 29
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 87
Fingerprint: 0xbb08ae87
+20 to Mana
Adds 1-12 lightning damage
Increase Maximum Mana 25%
+1 to All Skill Levels

As well as another:

Gravenspine
Hellslayer
Nosferatu's Coil
Tarnhelm
The Vile Husk
Deathbit
Hellmouth

as well as this relatively crappy fire facet

Rainbow Facet
Jewel
Required Level: 49
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 87
Fingerprint: 0xa8b4d8c0
Adds 17-45 fire damage
100% Chance to cast Level 29 Blaze When You Level Up
+3% to Fire Skill Damage
-4% to Enemy Fire Resist

but better than nothing I always say.

I guess not all localizations suck as badly as the spanish one :p
or polish one :s
IMO it's better to have things in it's original language, it's much better and more enjoyable. I bought the english version just because the language :xtongue:

So, my first Bartuc's I ever found was ethereal, then about a month ago I found my first Jade's Talon, also ethereal. Finally, this weekend I found this:

Shadow Killer
Battle Cestus
One-Hand Damage: 172 to 200
(Assassin Only)
Required Dexterity: 110
Required Strength: 110
Required Level: 78
Claw Class - Fast Attack Speed
Indestructible
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 86
Fingerprint: 0xf8643f05
+219% Enhanced Damage
-25% Target Defense
Freezes Target +2
+12 to Mana After Each Kill
Indestructible
33% Chance to cast Level 8 Frost Nova on striking
Ethereal (Cannot be Repaired)

I couldn't believe it, another eth claw. Of course I later checked the official stats and saw that this one is always ethereal but oh well, the damage is almost perfect.

Other than that, it was an excellent weekend, I found about 8 grail items, the most I've found in such a short amount of time for quite a while, those I remember include:

Mavina's True Sight (really been looking for this)
Naj's Puzzler
Natalya's Shadow (3 sockets)
HellSlayer
SnawClash

Today has been a decent mf-day for me. Mephisto has dropped me the following items (I only list the better items):

Stormshield (my first ever!)
Kira's Guardian (also my first ever)
Skullder's Ire (again, my first ever...)
Crescent Moon Amulet
Sandstorm Trek
Thunderstroke
IK Boots and IK Helm (and 5 IK Mauls, but didn't pick them up)
Crown of Thieves
Arioc's Needle
Laying of Hands x2
Earthshaker

I also gambled an pretty nice Rare Amulet with the following stats:+2 to all Assassin skills, +20 strength, +37% Lightning resistance, +25% Poison resistance, 25% MF.

Nice finds Big_P. If you have the space keep the IK mauls because they make good Iron Golems if you play a necro summoner. Nice amount of crushing blow to help out boss runs.

Has anyone noticed a "trend" to finding great items on your very first run?

I've noticed this "trend" - although it's probably just a figment of my imagination - because I fired up D2 today and then on my very first Pindle run he drops a Jalal's Mane and right after that I get more skellies and then teleport to Meph and he drops a Metalgrid among other things.

Now, wouldn't that be convenient that D2 programmers temporarily increase the drop chance of items for the first little while in order to continually generate interest in the game. If you find something nice right away you tend to play it more and thus stick with the game and thus stick with Blizzard and increasing brand name recognition.

The more you play Diablo the less you play another game from another company - the competition.

Yes, conspiracy theorists unite!

Well you are partially correct... the first time you kill an Act Boss he does drop better than any other time that you kill him. But that works only the first time you kill them for the quest. Anything else is just coincidence... all though I recall that time of day does affect things but in a way that is meaningless. Though, and some other may attest, I have found certain items bunched together in condensed periods of time.

Have you tried shifting from say Hell mode to Nightmare then to Hell again, afterwards run other Super Unique Monsters (SUMs) or Bosses. I know we do this to change the mapseed, but I also noticed that on the first run on SUMs after you reset the mapseed, the drops are generally better. I don't know if I was just finding a pattern because of frustration, but that seems to be the case for me for quite some time now.

I would imagine that this is all psychology ... and I am aware of the "first drop" as opposed to "regular" drops by boss killing. I'm just referring to my experience while doing runs.

It's just that one becomes more aware of a good drop when you first fire up the game ... and when it happens to you a few more times one would almost come to the partial conclusion of some sort of "drop feature" - a whimsical notion at best i'm sure.

Oh well, i'm going to test it again for the heck of it!

Not to give more fodder for the conspiracy theorists, but... I had never found a Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest before I had to reformat my computer (had collected roughly 50% of the self-found grail)...I found one on my first Pindle run, and another on run ~35.

I found a Horadric Crest in act 5 aswell Oo - not off pindle but eldritch...

I also found IK Boots and some other bits and bobs. Not a bad 20 runs I guess.

Found my Horadric Crest off an Imp in NM on the Frozen Tundra. But that was months ago.

My Christmas present findings where all unique ammies: Metalgrid, Mara's and Cats Eye were of note, although a useless uniques where also found.

Umm... you want this item to be ethereal. It's close to perfect.

"Oh well" as in it doesn't really support my own conspiracy type theory that claws tend to spawn ethereal for me since this one is always eth.

On the other hand, this does

Natalya's Shadow
Loricated Mail
Defense: 648
Durability: 35 of 36
Required Strength: 149
Required Level: 73
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 86
Fingerprint: 0x71d33129
+158 Defense
Poison Resist +25%
Poison Length Reduced by 75%
+2 to Shadow Discipline Skills (Assassin Only)
+1 to Life (Based on Character Level)
Socketed (1: 0 used)

it dropped last night, just a day after my very first one ever dropped.

A couple other nice finds lasst night were

Bul-Kathos' Sacred Charge
and
Griswold's Valor

The other good news was my wife was watching Princess Diaries on TV. What's good about that, no distraction = no death. I died several times the night before, I had a Chris Farley movie on while I was trying to play and at lvl 91 that was quite costly.
