ISO Amazon for pit killing

Hi guys. Been a long time since I last played and will probably make a comeback in the 1.13 patch!!

I've never ever played an amazon before and am clueless about how to play/skill them. I want to make a char that will be a specialised pit killer and that would be quick geared with average items.

Any ideas/help for such a build. What items to equip. What stats to invest? Thanks for inputs guys.

You can respec now, so no need to worry about stats or skills too much.
You build your char around best bow you have, in this example I build this around edge, its good enough, but replace it when better bow drops or you get runes for Harmony-bow

Edge is nice starting bow with 35ias, gampling bow, monster cannot heal, life leech, poison damage, cheap.
Its so cheap (tir tal amn), that you can make new Edge when better 3-socket bow drops. Transfer old one to your gampler char.


Something like this works with lousy items.

Edge (elite bow) -> Harmony (much much later)
3 x sigons (30 ias, 50mf)
3x Angelic (95 life, 50mf, huge ar boost, 50 mana),manald ring
Gampled circlet/Peasant crown

Loh(Laying of Hands, set item), Razortail, War Traveler, 2xleech ring, Raven, Atmas amu, Threachery, Harmony bow etc... much much later.

With respec, you don't need to plan too much, something like this works.
Build: 7 multi, 20 strafe, 20 valkyrie, 10 critical, 20 penetrate, 5 pierce and 1 in those pre-skills, done around lvl80

Str for items (60 hard points at least, great bow needs 121str so you might need that much too)
dex lots of, 250... at least, no upper limit
vit 50-100 is good number for 1st bowa, veterans survive with base vit (you can respec later, so 75-100 might be good number to start). Bnet is laggy at start, so extra vita helps.


Welcome back, bow-ama is not easiest char to start (getting mana leech and decent bow is problem). At least valkyrie is great, so you can kill even extra fast monsters with lousy bow, takes time, but its safe anyway. Have fun.

If you can afford it infinity javazon is by far the best. Pick just about any lightning javazon build guide from the link crawling posted for gear/stat distribution.

A lightning fury zon doesn't need infinity to be badass. Just get as many +skills and crushing blow as possible. Lightning fury is auto hit, so even lightning immunes will get owned by your high crushing blow%, merc and valk will take of the last little bits.

Crushing blow is a waste on a lfzon. Your attacks per second aren't high enough. It would help against immunes but its not neccessary.

And without infinity the archer packs give you some trouble. Its not difficult to run pits without one but having one reduces the time to kill a pack of those from a minute of using jab to 2 seconds of lf.

Ouch. I wanted a char not to hard to kill pits...Guess it'll have to be another class :) But thanks for the info. Will be useful later on :)

What are you talking about? Zons are probably the easiest char to kill in Pits with.

A Strafe or MS/Strafe zon does extremely excellently in the Pits, and generally arent ever in danger of dying either. And their gear is extremely cheap compared to other classes.

If you dont want a Zon anymore, a Poison Nova Nec also makes a fine Pits specialist

check the stickies for all the details....

basically there's two types of pure-physical (ie, no Cold tree) bowazons. Those that use Strafe with a Might/Pride merc and focus on maxing their raw damage, and those that use Multishot and Strafe and focus on hitting the 7fpa MS breakpoint.

Strafe tends to work well in the Pits since its all narrow tunnels, while MS does better in more open levels like CS but still works fine in Pits too, and a pure Strafer is a little more expensive than the MS/Strafe build since it has more HRs and harder-to-find items like 40/15 max jewels

Strafe is really good for Pit running. (I play only single player) My strafer can clear the Pits at /players 7 very safely, at around 3-5 minutes per run (depending on monsters. Skellies take longer to kill), without any high-end runewords, with Windforce and Tal's armor being the rarest gear.
I have around 250 mf, pitiful resists (which aren't very important in the pits anyway, IMO).
The only reason I don't run with her anymore is I don't see a lot of good drops, so I use my Fishyzon to run WSK/Baal now.

Try to do some timed runs with a 7 fpa multi vs 3 frame strafe. See which build does the runsfaster :whistling:

As you already know, but I'll say anyway, the trouble there isnt what skill you use, but what gear you have on. You need more IAS to reach 7 fpa multi than you do to reach 3 fpa strafe, so when you strafe that extra IAS goes to waste.

If you're a dedicated strafer, you can drop IAS gear to add +max gear (notably, a 120/45 max helmet over Andy's and Might/Pride over Faith merc and Ohm/damage jewel over Shael in your WF) that will make your strafe cycles more powerful, but at the cost of sacrificing the versatility of having MS as a tactical option.

I personally prefer the dual-threat option as I dont like to build a char to only do one run, but especially now that IM is gone and pure-strafers arent as vulnerable in the CS, I can see that being a popular option as well.

ok guys...Im not too conversant with the builds you are talking about ^_^ I just need a build that would be least gear dependent to effectively kill pits and do CS runs...:)

Heh mate I've gone through many guides and read them all. Ive also made test chars in the 1.13 but I cant really test out their effectiveness in normal mode :p
I'll go though them again:p Btw are there lightning immunes in chaos sanctuary hell?

If you want the least gear dependent build then you should try a fishyzon.

Yes, there are lightning immunes in cs, and also in the pits, so pure lightning will preferably want to have an infinity merc.
